We both got real jobs: now we can go to Disney! Sept 2013 PTR! TR link posted 9/29!

I know what you mean about avoiding FP+ and MagicBand stuff! It all seems so confusing and I am not a person who likes change, especially after learning all the tricks of the regular fastpasses!

Your off day sounds fun, especially when you will be resort exploring!

Your Epcot plan also sounds good! The good part about it not being your favorite park is that you can kind of take it easy when you're there! I would love to come across some Character Training as well, so fingers crossed for both of us! Pick a Pearl is so fun, I had a blast doing it and I love how they put on a little show for you :)

It is confusing especially because things are constantly changing because it's still a "test phase!"

I'm so excited to see the different resorts! I think it'll be nice to still be immersed in all the Disney but have a slower paced day.

Definitely fingers crossed for Character training!! Thanks for sharing about the Pick a Pearl! It seems so cute. I can't wait! :goodvibes

We're officially in the teens!!! It's after midnight so it's our 18 day mark! :yay::dance3::woohoo::cloud9:

So the other day, I was laying in my bed, luxuriating in the fact that I had the morning off and didn't have to move yet :rotfl2: As I was laying there, I was persuing the Disboards on the mobile app on my phone and read about how people were getting their magicbands and the email that they shipped on the same day. Lo and behold, I got an email that my magicbands had shipped so I had to run downstairs and find out!

I found this non-descript box on the doorstep and squealed! If anyone had been watching, I'm sure they would've thought I lost my mind.

Sure enough, I found these inside!

I'm not gonna lie. I've been pretty anti-Magicband/FP+ but they are pretty cool and I'm kinda excited about it. However, this is because I know we have the KTTW cards and regular FP as back-up.

We also finally got the rest of our Mickey mail!

In other news, Chris and I have gone back and forth a thousand times about costumes for MNSSHP. He brought up the awesome idea of being Gaston and one of the bimbettes and I had to tell Katt about it because I remembered her talking about them in her TRs. She was awesome about finding a bunch of different options on Etsy. In the end though, we couldn't really make anything work within our costume budget :sad1:. So this year, we decided to just go with some themed t-shirts.

If we do 2 parties (which I'm heavily heavily leaning towards!), we're going to wear NBC shirts the first night to meet Jack and Sally!

IMG_1909 by RN Courtney, on Flickr
This is mine and Chris has his already from last year.

Then, we have villains shirts!

IMG_1816 by RN Courtney, on Flickr
This is Chris' and I'm really pretty jealous because it's so much cooler than mine! :rotfl:

And these are mine! I plan on wearing one to the second party and one to the villains bash. Chris will probably rewear his to both.

IMG_1906 by RN Courtney, on Flickr

I'm kinda sad that we won't be dressing up but I know we'll still have a great time and I'll enjoy seeing everyone else's costumes! AND, as soon as I have a 100% green light for next Fall, I'm commissioning my grandma to work on the costume front so Katt, there may still be a chance!

I've bought a lot of Disney shirts in the past few months! I don't have pictures of all of them but as I start gathering things to pack :dance3:, I'll snap pictures hopefully and post them!

These are 2 that I bought from Wet Seal (where I got the villains tanks from also!)

Tuesday, September 17th: MNSSHP!

This day will be our first MNSSHP! :cool1::banana:

We plan to sleep in and relax this morning. If Chris wants to go to a gym, I suppose we'll do that but otherwise we just plan on relaxing, waking up late and maybe a little pool time.

I can't decide what to do in terms of ADRs before MNSSHP. I know we can get into the MK at 4 with our party ticket. So, my original plan was for us to have lunch at 1:50 at the Wave at the Contemporary. Afterwards, I figured we'd just make our way over to the MK.
images by RN Courtney, on Flickr
Doesn't that just look really cool?!

Then, I was thinking about it and I started worrying that this plan would leave us starving by the middle of the party and I don't really want to waste time getting QS food during the party. So, I made a 4:15 ADR for dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern.

Unknown by RN Courtney, on Flickr

We had lunch here last time and really loved it! I know dinner is family-style so it's a different menu. With this plan, we'd head to the MK before 4 and go straight to our ADR. When we come out of our reservation, we'll most likely head straight to line up for Jack and Sally.

Anyone have any suggestions of which route we should go? I'm completely torn about what's best!

Since I'm sure the line for Jack and Sally is going to be crazy, we'll line up for them pretty early!

dsc02804 by RN Courtney, on Flickr
(This is Kennythepirate's photo!)

After Jack/Sally, I'm thinking we'll try to get in line for the princes/princesses if it's not too crazy. If it is too long, we'll either try to go during the first parade or on our second party night.

We'll also probably try to meet Mickey/Minnie at this point. I really want to catch them in both costumes. Does anyone have any experience with trying to ensure with a CM to catch them in the second costume? I want to make sure I'm phrasing my question in an appropriate way because I don't want to ruin the magic or annoy them!

Depending on what time it is, we'll either head to Fantasyland and see if we can catch the Pooh gang (probably not), Donald/Daisy or Prince Philip and Aurora. If it's getting too close to 8:15, we'll save Fantasyland for the 2nd night and go straight to Adventureland/Frontierland. My goal is to try to catch the 7 dwarves during the 1st parade and while we're nearby, maybe catch whoever else we can in the area.

Based on last year's schedule, there will be a Villains show at 8:50 so we'll watch that and do M&Gs after.

393691_329369347159263_1801510078_n by RN Courtney, on Flickr

We'll definitely be watching Hallowishes at 9:30 and the second Boo to You parade at 10:30.

There's a Villain show between the two at 10:05 but I'm wondering if we would have time to get a good spot for the second parade if we do this?

If not we'll also do the Villains show at 11:15. Then, I want to get the magic shots done by the HM.

530674_344558688973662_1449652545_n by RN Courtney, on Flickr

I figure we'll trick or treat when it's convenient/towards the end of the night so we're not lugging candy around everwhere!

It's really hard to make a touring plan since

A. We don't officially know what characters will be there until after the first party and
B. I don't know how long everything is going to take.

Also, I had a tentative touring plan based on going to one party but now I'm almost certain we're doing 2 so I have to rearrange. I completely welcome any ideas and suggestions because I'm totally lost trying to plan out the party night!

I love your Mickey tie front shirt!! The villains shirts are great, too! I love that all these non-Disney stores are getting such great Disney apparel.

I've never been to MNSSHP, so I can't help you there, but we did do LTT for dinner our last trip and enjoyed it. The beef and mashed potatoes were my favorites! If you like sweet butter (I do not!), you will probably like the rolls and butter. People rave about them, but they just weren't to my taste.

Yay!!

Gym? At Disney?! Ahaha, only Chris...and Caitlyn...and maybe sometimes me? Lol. Last Sept I was in the middle of a Squat Challenge and was supposed to be doing upwards of 150 a day...ugh..

The Wave is a place I definitely want to do breakfast! January!!

And LTT is another place I want to eat!! Yum yum!!

Okay, let's pretend you're only doing one party, here's what I would do:

-Straight after dinner, do Jack and Sally first thing. They are rumoured to be in Town Square, so you can check the wait time for Princesses right after that. Also text me, and maybe line jump in there with us we're not in the room yet!

-Do princesses, then Mickey. For Mickey, I would quietly ask a CM "hey, so we got to see Mickey in his ____ costume already, would there be any chance that he might have changed into a different costume? I'd love to see it" kinda thing. Chances are, only the attendants in the blue shirts will be able to help you, so make sure to TRY and grab one of them!

-Usually I don't find Mickey's line to be long, so I might skip that til later?

- I personally would skip straight to Adventureland, Tarzan and Jane are usually out over there, meet them then skip right on over to the Drawves. After meeting the dwarves, skip through the candy trail down there to get some munchies

-Hub to Villians show, here's who's usually in the show, and from my memory, they're from left to right after the show, so be as close to that spot as you need to be: Dr Facillier [shadow man], Malificent, Snow Queen, Hook, Cruella, Queen of Hearts [i read that over in my head and was all...OUAT characters?!?! ahahaha...#nerdproblems]. Frollo is in the show, but usually just wanders You'll need to watch at least two shows to get around 3 characters! Best way is to either split up or have friends in another line a little further back!

-Then it's your prime time for character greets, and do them as long as you can, grab some candy if you're in the area, hit up a dance party, and get into the hub for Hallowishes! They go off all around the hub, so right in front of the castle doesn't really matter!

-I agree second parade, and vote for a spot on Main st, the lighting is not great in Frontierland.

-After the parade, I like to do a loop of trick or treating around the park, as everyone is leaving now! Also keep an eye out for characters, they said they'd all be in at a certain time in '11 and Hatter was still out by himself after that time!

Our plan is pretty much that, but doing Princesses instead of Jack and Sally. I'm just not that big of a NBC fan, I'd only want to see them to get a video for Paige, so if the line is short :rotfl2::lmao: that's what I'll do!!

Wow...now that I've written a NOVEL! ...

YAY FOR 18 DAAAAAYS

I love all of your new shirts! I was thinking about the clothes I would bring, and I only have one semi-Disney shirt, my Ewok shirt. I had an Expedition Everest one from 5 years ago, but it's gone now :( So I might have to buy one early in my trip!

Your MNSSHP plans sound awesome! Good luck with Jack and Sally, I hope the line isn't too crazy.

:rotfl2: Yeah I don't do gyms at home let alone in Disney!

Thank you for your novel! I appreciate you taking the time to do it cause it's so helpful!

Hmm ok so we can definitely wait until later in the night to see Mickey. Oh yay Tarzan and Jane. I definitely need to watch that movie again before we go.

Thanks for all the tips! :goodvibes I think we're gonna follow this plan pretty much and that way if we do 2 parties, the second one can just focus on hitting everything we missed!

AH I can't wait!

Thank you! I didn't own any Disney shirts really before our January trip and DBF and I each bought 1 at the Disney store to have. I kinda went crazy buying them recently because I found them in so many different stores!

Thank you! I really hope so too! :goodvibes

Woo I have a lot to catch up on! First - SO JEALOUS that your trip is in 18 days, I would be flipping out!!

Your magic bands are so pretty, I know I'm going to wig out when I finally see that box in my doorstep!

We share your feelings about Epcot - I don't dislike it really, it's just not our favorite! Good idea about the character spot for a FP+, I didn't realize that was an option! I can't book our yet but I was thinking soarin, test track & maelstrom, but the character spot is definitely a better choice then maelstrom.

Teppan Edo is really good! We do hibachi fairly frequently and it was just as good as the ones at home when we went 2 years ago. And pick a pearl is in my list for world showcase too, I want pearl earrings!

Your shirts are so cute & hearing your MNSSHP plans made me so excited for our first party!!

AH I know!! I just wanna go already!

It is pretty exciting to find them on your doorstep!

Yes exactly. We enjoy our time in Epcot but it just isn't our favorite park. I'm hoping Illuminations will become an option! Right now, it seems to be only available on weekends.

Glad to hear it! I'm excited about it!

Oooh earrings are a good idea!

Wednesday, September 18th
We've reached the point in my plans where it seems that I've lost my mind :lmao:

As you will recall, we will be spending September 17th at MNSSHP. Many people would use this opportunity to sleep in and rest. :rolleyes1

Well. Not us!

We have a fully planned day ahead of us. Starting with an 8:05 ADR at

Unknown-1 by RN Courtney, on Flickr

I'm excited to go get some empty Main Street castle pictures! Plus, Pooh's stuffed french toast and breakfast lasagna while meeting characters sounds like heaven! :woohoo:

We don't have any real specific plans for the day. We'll have already had a night and day in the MK so we'll focus on the things we haven't done yet/hitting up our favorites again.

We may use this day to play with the Sorcerer's of the Magic Kingdom a little bit. One must-do for us is watching the Celebrate a Dream Parade. I've probably said this 1000 times but the Celebrate a Dream Parade is both our favorites!

Especially knowing that this is our last opportunity to see the Celebrate a Dream parade, I think we'll be watching it every time we're in the MK at 3 pm.

Side note: I think it's so depressing that there's going to be a few months with no afternoon parade in the MK! :confused3 I'd be beyond sad if I was there and there was no parade!

To finish off the night, we'll be watching Wishes at 8 pm.

The park is open until 9 pm tonight so after Wishes, we have an ADR at BE OUR GUEST at 9 pm! I scheduled it this late intentionally so that we would be able to watch Wishes because I originally thought this would be the only night we were in the park where they were having the "regular" Wishes. As it turned out, we'll have another night to see it now but oh well. Now there's just more hours of magic! :yay::cheer2:

I'm beyond excited! I'm sure we'll be beyond exhausted at this point but we'll make it through!

First of all, YAY for being so close to your trip!!

I love all your Disney shirts!! Especially those villains ones, I wish I could find one of those for myself! *Edit* I just saw they have them online! Would you mind telling me how the sizes run? I don't normally buy anything there so I'm not familiar with their sizing!

Your plan sounds good! I don't have any tips for meeting both sets of Mickey/Minnie, but I'm hoping to try and do the same! I seriously can't wait fo the first party to happen so I can start solidifying my plans. I can't wait to hear all the details about your night!!

And that is AWESOME that you got an ADR at Be Our Guest!!

Day 9 sounds like a great day!! And a LONG day.

You have such a nice long trip! I'm only there for 6 days :( That'll be awesome having a BOG ADR at 9, very cool.

I'm definitely going to make time for the parade and fireworks this trip! I have to compare the fireworks for DL's and see which I like better.

Yes I ordered them online too! We used to have a Wet Seal in our mall but we haven't in years. I ordered smalls on all of them. The sizing is different to me from the villains tanks to the other 2 shirts. I ordered smalls on all of them. The other 2 shirts are a little tighter fitting than the tanks. The tanks fit perfectly to me. They fit without being too tight. I would probably say they fit pretty true to size, maybe run a little small. I hope that's not too confusing of a description!

Yeah I definitely want to meet them in both outfits but I also don't want to play character roulette and wait in line and end up meeting the same costume. I think Katt's answer of what to ask/to make sure to ask the CM's in blue shirts was definitely a good way to go about it! :cheer2:

It is a long day :rotfl2: Hopefully we'll survive!

We've progressively made each trip longer lol! Our first was 7, the second was 8 and now we're up to 12 :rotfl: It's a sickness.

Definitely do it! I know a lot of people use parade/firework time to get shorter lines but I couldn't imagine not stopping for them!

Regular people would probably use that morning to rest, but hey, we’re in DISNEY, WHO CARES?! Lol, we have to be at MK for 8:15 that morning so there’s a chance we’ll be seeing each other again!

Breakfast lasagna is the greatest!! YUM YUM!

If you want to catch the CADCT parade, definitely do it this trip! It will be gone SO SOON!! AHHH! I mean, the new parade looks fantastic and awesome, but it will be sad to see this one go! I do get that there will be a while without parades, I think the crowds will be a bit worse, but they’ll probably throw in either an extra trolley show or Move It Shake It to keep the day occupied with entertainment!

Yay for Wishes! We’ll be back in the park for that too! And YAY for BOG!! That’s one heck of an awesome way to end a night at Mk!

There's no time for rest in Disney!!! :rotfl: We can do that at home!

Yay! :cheer2: I'm glad we have a bunch of opportunities to see each other on our trips!

We definitely plan on watching it as many times as possible this trip! I'm sure I'll like the new parade because it looks great but we really do love the Celebrate a Dream parade so we'll be sad to see it for the last time.

Nothing like empty Main St. pics! I don't believe in sleeping in at Disney either! We rarely watch the afternoon parade in the MK, but it is weird that there will be nothing as they prepare for the new parade!
A late ADR at BOG is perfect! You won't feel rushed to get to any rides or anything since you'll know the park is closed. And walking out of an empty, dark MK will be amazing!

Yeah I would find it so weird to be in MK without the 3 pm parade. I was originally thinking it would be creepy to be eating there after the park closed but with how popular it is, I'm sure there will be plenty of others eating there as well! And it will be different to see MK closed when we leave! :goodvibes

Today we are officially 10 days away from our trip! :cool1:

In the past few days, other than working , we've gotten some trip prep things taken care of!

The other day, I took my little brother (who's now a middle schooler?! :confused3) to get sneakers for back-to-school at Dick's Sporting Goods and while we were there, I found these flip flops!

pDSP1-14374440p275w by RN Courtney, on Flickr

http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p..._cs&recid=Product_PageElement_product_rr_2_37

They are hands down, the most comfortable pair of flip flops in the world. I am now obsessed with them and they are 100% coming to Disney with me. I'm also bringing sneakers but these seem like they'll be very comfortable to walk around in.

We also ordered our water and Chris ordered his oatmeal/protein/whatever healthy things he wants to have while we're there. I figured I'd air on the side of caution and do it a little over a week away. I'm sure everything will get there before we do but I'd rather have it that way!

I've started assembling things together that I need to pack and making a list of the toiletries and random things that I need as well. It's hard to pack yet since I still need my shorts here so I've basically assembled the toiletries I already have and Disney shirts.

My To-Do List as it now stands:

1. Buy toiletries etc. at Rite-Aid
2. Print our MNSSHP tickets
3. Figure out what we're going to be doing officially for the 20th and buy whatever tickets we'll need
4. Print flight confirmation/boarding passes.
5. Check in for flight 24 hours before
6. Figure out how to download the character locator app for my iPhone (I had an Android for our last trip and could just buy it through the app store!)
7. Charge my camera/find all my cords/extra batteries/memory cards/empty the memory cards
8. Download the Hidden Mickey app
9. Print our FP+ for BOG reservation
10. Print my list of our daily plans/confirmation numbers/FP+ times.
11. Finish packing!

It looks like a lot but a good amount of it is printing organizational stuff out and assembling all our paperwork. I like to do all that stuff the day before we leave because otherwise I find that I forget where I put things, forget what I have printed/still need to print or put things in more than one place.
-------------------------------------------

Two other random pieces of news:

We watched Cars for the first time a few nights ago and LOVED it! It was so cute and I can't believe I'd never seen it. Now I'm even more excited to go explore AoA. I got the Princess and the Frog from Netflix today so we need to watch that and Hercules is on the Netflix instant stream so that's on my list also!

Finally, I was listening to the DisUnplugged podcast the other day and they were talking about how Marty Sklar will be doing book signings at WDW on September 11 and 12th!I don't know that much about him but I know that he worked personally with Walt in designing the Magic Kingdom which is SO COOL! I've been wanting to buy his book Dream It, Do It since I heard it was coming out but our Barnes and Noble has it out of stock:confused3

Our plans already include being at DHS on Sept 11 so we're going to head over to the Writer's Stop to meet him! :woohoo: I'm pretty excited about it! Also, they said on the podcast that Disney will only let him sign books that were purchased at Disney that day so I assume they will have them for sale there and I'll wait to buy it til then!

Don't miss the next update on the next page!
