We are on our way.

Hey snowmedic, your down in my neck of the woods. I live about ten minutes outside of Mobile, down in Grand Bay. Too bad I am at work in Louisiana. I am enjoying reading along on your trip report, between you and tiggerdad, yall are getting my hyped up for our Disney trip in Feb. Enjoy joy the battleship and the rest of your trip. BTW I dont if your familiar with Mobile or not, but there are some great places to eat in Mobile, if you like fresh Gulf caught seafood try Felix's Fish Camp next to the battleship, The Original Oyster House or Ed's Seafood, all of them are on the bay way close to the Battleship. If you like good country cooking Lambert's Cafe is on Hwy 59 in Foley, its a little ways off the interstate but its our favorite place to eat, my 7 year old DS likes it because they throw rolls to you from across the room. There's usually a wait to get in during summer and on weekends. Enjoy your trip and safe travels.

5er, thanks for the tips, I have heard about Lambert's, home of the throwed rolls. Sounds interesting.

We thought Nov. would never get here, you hang in there and Feb. will be here before you now it.

Went over to Mobile today to tour the USS Alabama, was a nice ride over, except for the accident we passed on our way,( had to tell DD 6 to look out a different window so she wouldn't see). Took us 2 hrs. to get there and 4 hrs. Just to tour the battleship. Everyone liked seeing how people lived and the different areas of the ship, DD 6 didn't care for all the ladder climbing, but she hung in there. I think the USS Drum was my favorite.

Ran into rain on our way back, so was not able to get to the beach today, maybe tomorrow.

Going to head over to a zoo in the morning then dinner with my sister and her family. They live near the beach so hoping to get the kids over for some ocean swimming and pics.

Today's high 85 with heavy down pours in the afternoon.

USS AL is a fun tour, but even for my short 5'6" man that is some cramped quarters.

I would say 85 and raining is better then the forecast for the NE this weekend. So while it may rain, you at least have that to put things into perspective (Mid Atlantic is seing the same chilly temps.)

Being under the 90 day window for our trip, I love reading these trip reports and the excitement is building.

You are right, it was cramped in there. It was still a fun tour. I wanted to slide down the rails of the ladders like they do in the movies, but decided not to.

The weather here is great this time of year. We usually come down in March, which is also nice. I think with the cool nights it should be just right for sleeping in a tent.

I have been watching the weather up north. Calling for snow showers on friday and saturday, which it does every year. We know that the first snow is usually on halloween.

Thanks for following along, Vince.

Went over to Mobile today to tour the USS Alabama.

I like the USS AL also. When I was a Cub Scout Leader we took 20 boys and 10 dads and slept overnight on the ship. The bunk rooms are the hanging wire bunks stacked 4 high. Every time somebody climbed down to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night I got stepped on. And the sounds some of those (other) dads made bounced off the steel plate walls back and forth. It was a long night...:scared: But my son loved it.

Yeah, we had that rain yesterday morning here in central Alabama. DW called it "God Lightning" because the FLASH and the CRACK were milliseconds apart. Oh and you had to throw in the hot temp. What's the SPF you are applying? :beach:

Sounds all good snowmedic. :surfweb:

Not using any sunblock, I get burned on the first hot day up north and don't have to worry about it for the rest of the year,

Went to Gulf Breeze zoo today, it is a nice place with lots to see. The DD's had fun feeding the giraffes and the sheep.

Went to my sisters for dinner and to do some catching up. Only see her about every 2 years.

Tomorrow is a beach day, then back to my parents to get ready for the Fort on Saturday.
GPS says it is a 7 hr drive. We are going to leave out at about 8:30 in the morning.

Today's high 77

This is our last day in the Destin area. We are sad to go, but can't wait to get to the Fort.
Spent the day at the :beach: with DW and DD's. They loved playing in sand and surf. But, there are things to do to get ready for tomorrow morning, :laundy: , and :drinking1 , and :happytv: . We will be leaving out at 7:30 a.m.

Here are some beach pics to leave you with until I check in again tomorrow, hopefully from the Fort.
