We are less than one year till the 2026 World Cup and Buzz Rules is sad. The celebratory feeling and the sense of unity within the host nation usually starts now. Instead the USMNT fanbase is divided, the soccer enthusiasm of non soccer fans is questionable, and some in the country don't even know the World Cup is coming here. Heck, most don't even know the Gold Cup starts tomorrow in the USA. Fox is even doing a special on the tournament at 8pm ET (I encourage everyone to watch it tonight). I wanted to feel confident in our national team and fanbase but the negativity is shameful. I was imagining the watch parties in every town and city to be a welcoming family friendly expirence and create a new generation of life long fans. Instead, I feel everything about this World Cup to be a controversial mess. 6 months from now we will have the World Cup finals draw. It will be really telling how many in this country will tune in given how everything good about the tournament has been overshadowed by the bad. Even Canada seems to be more enthusiastic about being a host country and their national team. I have high hopes for Canada’s soccer future. I don't know how to feel about the USA's soccer future at the moment. I would love to hear everyone's perspectives this morning.

I'm excited about it, but I'm excited about every World Cup. I live close to a stadium so I might try for tickets if it's not too late.

I am also excited but I feel like the Men's team is always a mess. I was so excited during the last world cup but since then the team has been less than exciting and seems to be heading in the wrong direction. I feel like the competition for a spot on the Men's team is not nearly as competitive as it is for the women's team so the men become complacent. I will definitely be watching the Gold Cup but after that preformance against Switerland I am not confident at all.

I'm excited and will watch matches when I am able. Hubby isn't a soccer fan, yet, so I doubt I will go to a match. I did get him to agree to season tickets for the Philadelphia Union this year and he agreed to renew for next year.

I looked in getting tickets for whatever tournament is starting now but they were WAY too expensive for a casual observer like me.

Maybe next year I’ll spring for World Cup tickets, but not both.

Given the world situation, I would say there is a chance it will be canceled. My daughter lives in Germany and some of her friends there had been planning to attend, and they no longer are.

The 2025 Club World Cup is a waste of time. The Gold Cup is mostly on the west coast this year.

Unfortunately politics have been more potent than ever. I bet we’re going to see stadiums less than half full in 2026 for the US matches because large amounts of tourists are trying to avoid the US. We may not see much in the way of international tourists until at least 2029. The Canadian and Mexican matches aren’t expected to see this downturn since much of the world believes they feel safer there.

You don't think some countries and or players will stand up in solidarity with the harassed, mistreated and abused?
Those countries will not protest by boycotting. They will come no matter what. Some of the poorest countries are qualified for these tournaments and get money for their federations.

Its awhile until your games. The situation is not going to get better, just more dire.
We shall see if they all come grinning, new kit in hand eager to play.
