I live near the coast in SE Texas. We are having our first snow day in the history of our school district tomorrow!!! No snow yet, but they say it's on its way! :thumbsup2 My kids are going to be SOOOO excited! It's only snowed 3 times in my life - and once in theirs!! I know, the northern folks are just shaking their heads. But, it's a BIG deal here!!! :woohoo:

So where are you at? I also live in SE Texas. Our schools are closed tomorrow also. It is not even sleating, raining, or doing anything here yet. But 10 miles up the road they are getting snowflakes. I agree though it is a BIG deal here.

Enjoy your snow day!! I'm kinda of near Dallas and we're on our 3rd snow day in a row. It was awesome fun the first day, but we're getting stir crazy! We're stuck in the house and yesterday the power went out for 7 hours so no heat!

Nederland! Glad to find someone close by on the DIS! Where are you?

We might get some of that stuff up here tomorrow but they're actually predicting more for you in the south. The weather is all wacky this year.

Lumberton. I have lurked on these boards since 2007, but don't post much.

Lumberton...

I had to look it up but I knew I'd seen that town name somewhere. I drove a different route than normal to Beaumont a few months ago and went through Lumberton.

You want the snow? Take it b/c I for one have had enough! :lmao:
Check my pic below and you'll see what I mean!

We've had 3 snow days so far, I hope we don't get anymore or we will have to start making them up at the end of the year.

Sitting here in my office in Houston wondering when the mess is going to start. DS's school was dismissed at 2 and already canceled for tomorrow. DH picked him up so I could work (or read the DIS!) a little longer, and it's starting to look like a lot of fuss about nothing.

I can feel your excitement, op! Enjoy your day. I'd be glad to let you have some of our snow if I could figure out how to get it to you. I think we've had 9 days so far. I had a snow day today, and dd had a delay this morning, but she was dismissed early because of structural concerns. There are buildings collapsing all over the state. I'm not sure where or if she'll have school tomorrow.

Maybe your kids can make a small snowman. Be sure to take pictures for them ! Have fun.

Aw...I hope you all get enough to have fun but not too much!

Thanks! Well it's 32 degrees and raining. COME ON SNOW!!!

It is sleeting here, with snow flurries mixed in. So it should be headed your way. Time for me to close up shop and head to the house. I have already witnessed one small accident this afternoon, no one was injured, but this Texas girl does not want to drive on the ice.

In downtown Houston and it's 36 with no rain, no sleet, and no snow. The office is virtually empty and at this point it's a whole lot of hype over nothing.

Well, be safe!! We are HOME for the rest of the weekend. Made chili last night, so we are good to go! Just waiting on that SNOW!

I know! I am SOOO hoping all this doesn't turn out to be hype! My Dad works in Houston, and just got home (we live 100 miles east). He said weather wasn't bad there.
