Hi - we are reviewing all the info on buying 150 points.

1. Has anyone ever used their points to go somewhere besides Disney? If so, was it a good deal.

2. I would love to hear the pros and cons......I am pretty much sold on the idea. But would love the truth from all you members.
Every have any problems booking rooms, cruises or rooms some where besides Disney.

150 points is not a lot of points for trading power unless you bank or borrow points. Many people have 150 points and are content with that. You'll hear many people tell ypu that cruising on points is not a good idea.
It all depends on the needs of your family. We started with 220 in 94 and now we 770 and we still borrow some years.
I think its an awesome investment in family time and vacations.

Hello: I have never gone anywhere else on points, I'm a new member and only have 150 right now and I agree with the previous poster, 150 points is not enough to do much. The real value is staying at one of the Disney properties. I think with only 150 points the trade to go somewhere else would have to be as a last resort, not a first. So, if you are buying DVC to stay somewhere else, save your money don't buy DVC.

My son bought 150 points at BWV and banked them. The next year he used his 150 banked points, 150 current points and borrowed a few (10 or 15) and exchanged them through the Concierge Collection for a 11 day, 10 night honeymoon at the Mauni Lani Bay & Bungalows (5 star resort!) in Hawaii. The room rented for over $400 nightly. You can do it with 150 points but you need to plan!

We own 170 points and we plan on using our points primarily for the main Disney resorts. What I love so much about having Hilton Head as our home resort is that we can stay in a one bedroom villa the first week of December for 104 points and the next year have 230+ to stay on site if want. Would we like more points? Yep. Can we comfortably afford more points? Nope. Are we satisfied with what we do have? You bet! Happy planning!
