Hi ~ ds9 asked for GWL for his birthday TODAY! So we are here! I booked thru ratestogo.com for $159....thank you DISer's for the suggestion!

When I told the front desk that it's ds's bday, they upgraded us to a Kid Cabin with fireplace and balcony and tokens! ds is thrilled!

He and dh are still at the waterpark. I'm resting back at the room in luxury!

Did this include the waterpark tickets as well? We are heading that way to fly from Buffalo on the 4th of Feb and I checked the price, and it is only $139.00 just curious if it is tickets included! If it is I will book it right away,as it says there is only 9 rooms left!

Thats awesome. My daughter is turning 9 tomorrow!! Lots of millenium babies around!! We can't make it to Great Wolf Lodge for her birthday, cause we live 8 hours from Niagara Falls, and about the same distance to the one in Traverse City as well. But if it includes waterpark passes for $139.00 the day before we fly, then I will for sure book it, and stay on the Cdn side, then go to Buf the next day. We don't fly til 4 pm the next afternoon. So we don't have to be at the airport til at least 2. Wonderful, my kids have always wanted a stay at GWL and we just might do that now!

We are also booked for Great Wolf Lodge for my ds's 9th birthday in two weeks. I got a rate of $129.00 total for 4 people. It's a Monday so it's a bit cheaper. Ratestogo.com. It includes the water passes.

BTW when I called the hotel directly the cheapest rate they would give me was $259.00 for the exact same room.

Next is California....next Sunday....that's my daughter's Wish trip! She's a great daughter!

Thanks for all the info. I just booked to stay the night before we fly to Disney, as we are flying from Buffalo anyhow. I got it for $139.00 Cdn! Great price. Can't wait, we haven't told the girls, we are going to surprise them! They have wanted to go for a long time, and were supposed to go the Travese City shopping for the Black Friday shopping, but the weather was to bad to travel, so we had to cancel. Now they get to do that and Disney!Happy travels!

dd15 hates me....at least she tells me that all the time....I tell her that I don't believe her and that she'll grow out of it. She is a great kid....kind to friends and family, good grades, fasinating interests....just a teenager.

ds9 is still a doll, but he is adopting dd15's little jabs occasionally. I'm tough and can take it. I'm like the 'little engine that could!'

I'm such a granola munching, patchouly burning, tree hugger, all about the love baby that I let a lot of crap GO!

We are just like that 80's show FAMILY TIES. Parents are hippies, kids are modern. LOL. S

They only show rates for the next 30 days. If the date you're checking for is not there (and it's within 30 days), they could be sold out for that date.

I remember reading a review you did on Kalahari Resort in Ohio awhile back.
If you had unlimited time, which do you prefer, that or GWL
We did GWL with our kids DD13 and DD10(now), a few years back, and while it was nice, I think it was a bit small for their ages now.
Kalahari seems to be a bit bigger....thoughts?
Also, does ratestogo.come work for other resorts, perhaps Kalahari too.

We adore the Kalahari in Ohio!

While at GWL this past weekend, I asked dd15 which she preferred and she said Kalahari. I like Kalahari better than GWL too. It's HUGE and offers such a beautiful waterpark and resort. dd15 LOVES the surfing! So with unlimited time and money, I'd go to Kalahari over GWL.

Sandusky has 4 watepark resorts.
1. GWL
2. Cedar Point ~ Caribbean theme
3. Kalahari ~ African theme
4. NEW Hawaiian themed resort

Is the Kalahari resort a far drive and if anyone does drive it, how long?

I mapquested it a while ago as I had never heard of it. It's 6 and a half hours from Toronto.

We went last year for March break for 2 nights....the kids (grown-ups too) loved it. We drove from just outside London and it took about 4 hrs. If you go with another family you can get the village suite and split it. (It sleeps 12...includes 12 tickets too) We didn't like the food there though....better off to drive 5 min down the road to where the chain restaurants are. (we had a kitchen in the suite which we used for breakfast/lunch)

Actually, ratestogo only shows rates for the next 20 days. Beware unless you cancel with alot of notice, you will be charged the FULL rate for one night's stay (whatever rate u booked at for ratestogo). I had a car accident and called them the night before to cancel and thought I would be charged the 25 dollar cancelllation fee as it says on ratestogo website, but was informed it is up to the hotel. Which in this case of GWL is one night's stay.

I told them that had I had my car accident EARLIER I would have informed them earlier, and due to the fact that that day and first day following I was in shock and too much pain to realize I had to call them.

After all, they did not end up charging me, after I threatened to tell everyone online how inconsiderate they were. I was pretty banged up and my DS was kind of traumatized and refused to get into a car for a few weeks, let alone myself not really confident in driving. I actually didn't even have a car to be able to go if I wanted to. LOL I swore to them that if they charged me, that I would tell everyone online.

I can laugh about it now, but at the time was really upset.


I will book again since they did not charge me, but I would have gone to the Fallsview instead.
