We’ve Arrived at Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point!

Sometimes people with mobility issues don’t mind walking, but might need to sit for a few minutes to catch their breath or just rest their legs. They could walk the pier if there was someplace to sit at least midway. Don’t think everyone is looking to get a free ride and be pampered.
On the other hand is it really so bad if someone wants to be pampered? I mean considering DCL's prices I kind of expect outstanding service

It’s these images that are a little concerning. There will be three or four of us visiting the island and we would like to all sit together, in a shady area. That is not a problem at all at CC. Here it looks like the umbrellas only cover two chairs, and there are no trees yet.
100%

Which is weird when you consider the big draw for Disney is families for 3 or 4. They likely did it to avoid a shortage on seats but they need to fill in the area with more shade options and more chair options I think.

Hey, Disney has plussed “Take a long walk off a short pier.” to “Take a longer walk off a long pier.”…!!!!! 🤣😉

We took a cruise out of the Port of Galveston on the Disney Magic the week before Christmas ‘22.
Our last stop was Progreso, Mexico.
That pier is 4 miles long from the end where the ship docked, but, fortunately, they have busses…!!! 😉

Exactly. It's the same reason you see so many scooters in the parks. Many people don't need assistance in their day to day lives, but with a long walk, they need to rest.

If you have mobility issues there are golf carts to get you there
Thanks, Mags2002. However, it's been reported that only guests booked into HA staterooms can use the golf carts? The vast majority of mobility issues do not require an HA stateroom. Do you have more info about how guests who are not in HA staterooms can sign-up?

And I feel like a lot of times the HA staterooms end up as *GT rooms. Unless I'm imagining things.

I am sure DCL knows if a room was assigned as a GT room vs booked for a need. Sometimes HA rooms are assigned as GT rooms but on some sailings they are also sold out. I am doubtful that if a guest was assigned an HA room as a GT they would be able to secure pier transportation... However if pier transportation is only being given to those with HA rooms, once word of that gets out more people will book them who might have been able to make due in a standard room making it harder for guests who really need them.

Yes some do because they've gone unbooked, especially on the plain-vanilla Bahamas or Caribbean cruises, but nowhere near most of the HA staterooms. It can be hard to find an HA stateroom, and near impossible on popular/different/new itineraries.

But to book an HA stateroom one must attest to needing it's features and agree to provide documentation if requested. A 75-yr-old with a heart condition may not need the roll-in shower or other accessibility features of the HA stateroom, but he sure as heck cannot walk that pier in the hot sun and/or wind.

So updates I am seeing from those currently on the Fantasy

The Good:
-Cold Towel Station Added Mid Pier
-Wagons for Guests to Use at the Pier (Right when you get off the ship)

The Bad:
-Flies Are Still Everywhere
-Not Enough Seating at BBQs
-Beach Chairs are in Short Supply

I saw those wagon in a video but they were on the other side of pier. Cold Towels a plus.

Interesting that with the larger capacity ships, less seating for everyone.

I’ll see what I can find out. Technically yes only for HA rooms but as far as I know they were allowing some people to get a ride back to the ship

There are so many chairs on the beach and seating for dining. Perhaps just not *exactly* where they wanted to sit?
