We’ve Arrived at Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point!

Nature trail looks open and boring! I’m gonna give them the benefit of the doubt and say this isn’t complete but I mean come on Disney…

It was great learning about the local flora and fauna with spectacular views along the way. I don’t think Guests would necessarily do it more than once but it was definitely interesting enough to see it

Regarding Nature Trail- Are those figures on the info signs metal? Little hands will want to touch them. Do not want anyone getting burned.

Ben & David mentioned a figure being hot so curious if same ones on nature trail

For those who missed it- Ben & David covered the cultural center- which looks like tables and chairs where they offered a chance to make a craft and they said something about workshops. Starts at 21:15 Love that the people there are locals but I guess I was expecting something different.

It’s a nature trail. If you’re not into that sort of thing, of course you’re going to think it’s boring.
Right?!? I mean, it looks like it needs to mature a bit but that will just take time.

All of this hand-wringing, with the exception of the flies which I believe they'll figure out, is exhausting. This is why we can't have nice things.

Yes they do
As if there weren't already enough guests especially when the big ships are in port will the facilities keep up?...

I think flies, shade and pier accessibility can all be adjusted. On the other hand I'm just very concerned of the lack of facilities for tweens and teens it seems to me they have been completely overlooked and falicities are not as easy to add on if they weren't planned for.

Obviously coming from Australia the beach it's definitely not a priority, I wish I had booked a cruise with an actual port at least we would be experiencing some authentic culture, but it's too late for us and the investment has been ginormous.

On the environmental impact I find it hilarious and an oxymoron that DCL has decided to not provide basic services in the name of the "environment" when people are getting on that very island by cruise ships, which are one of the worse polluters with a huge carbon footprint.

I am already studying the map and planning my rope drop strategy to get a chair on the beach. I’m not even kidding.
I literally did the same thing today in addition to fast forwarding YouTube videos to the beach portions. My thinking is head to the southernmost part of the family beach. It looks like most guests head north near the gift shop and water park and giving me a better shot at beachfront loungers if I beeline south after getting off the tram. Plus the south bit has nice views of the point. Thoughts?

people will most likely put their stuff down as soon as they see chairs. I plan to head as far as I can and then I will change my mind at least five times about the location. My husband refuses to take off his stuff until he knows I'm serious about the location. :rotfl: :rotfl:

First report of elderly guests being denied assistance back to the ship. This is not good.
This report doesn't exactly report when or where the couple was denied. Was it on the pier in the morning (because they didn't sign up)? My understanding is they need to sign-up at Guest Services the day prior -- at least for a ride from the ship to the island. DCL needs to find a way to get that information out if they require folks to sign-up in advance. Was it at the tram stop in the afternoon wanting a return? Or did they not ask in the afternoon because they'd been denied in the morning?

I mean the point is not about filling out the right form but having an 80 year old denied that long walk when DCL is suppose to be world class service.

A friend on the preview cruise was told (idk by who onboard) that the pier cannot support the weight of trams. Idk how true or not this is but just throwing this out there.

Yes... and I indicated DCL needs to make sure the info is out there for people to pre-register. But my point, we really don't know when or where any conversation(s) took place and yes, it does make a difference. If they tried to flag it down mid-pier -- in either direction -- they were correctly denied. You can't flag down a city bus mid-block and expect it to stop for you. You have to board at the bus stop. Same for these golf carts.

Even without pre-registering, I suspect if they'd asked when exiting the ship in the morning they may have been told "we have to take these other folks first, sorry it'll be about an hour wait until we can take you." But we have no idea when they asked. My guess is they tried to flag it down mid-pier and it's a safety measure to not stop at that point.

I do expect things will adjust as time goes on, and I certainly hope DCL makes this easier for those who need it.

I doubt it. It's just not wide enough to support the same trams that take you beach, plus people walking and cast members hauling supplies. They didn't design it to accommodate.

It seems like mid-pier would be where you would have the most issues. Some people may think they can walk it and then realize they're in trouble halfway down. Combine that with no seating or shade, you've got a problem.
