WDW's little inconviences?

I was just wondering what are the things that you have to do at WDW that are a little inconvienent. For instance, running to get fastpasses, or asking someone to take a picture for you (other then Photopass), or trying to get a priority seating. So, is there anything else that keeps visiting WDW completely perfect?

I think that they are a bit pricey. I'd love to stay at the Grand Floridian, but at over $300 a night, that's INSANE! The prices are high. That's the only complaint I have.

I hate asking stranhers to take a family picture of us. SO I have learned to rely on the WDW photographers. Thank goodness they will take the pic with their camera, and mine- it keeps the cost down.

There is no way to take Disney transportation from a park to Downtown Disney. It is necessary to switch buses at a resort. This works reasonably well at MK and Epcot but is considerably more difficult at MGM. AK isn't really an issue for me because it closes early and I am not likely to try to get to PI from there in time for a show.

My vote is trying to get from 1 resort to another on Disney's buses. You have to go to a park or DD, then change buses. So if I'm going to do this, I plan on a hour, or take the car.

Actually, not having direct busses from resort to resort takes up time, sometimes. Also many of the resorts close their food courts before midnight, which is no fun if your plane doesn't get there till 1am, and you're starving!

It's inconvenient that there are other people there while we're there. The nerve of some people to be visiting while I'm trying to enjoy the parks!

Yes they will. Each time we used photopass, I asked the CMs to use my camera as well as theirs.

I believe that my inconviences have already been mentioned but I am going to say them anyway.

It bugs me that there are not connecting buses from say MK to MGM. I was trying to do all 4 parks in a single day one time and just hit a few certain attractions at each park but I had no way of getting from MK to MGM without it taking a lot more time than I had.

I know that it is a monoply and that means we will be taken advantage of one way or another but why does EVERYTHING at WDW cost so much? There is nothing that is really reasonable. Where else is someone going to go and be happy about getting a pressed penny, which I never have understood, and pay 50 cents to loose a penny that you can never use. Or going to Beaches and Cream and paying over $20 for ice cream. There are cheaper places to eat and to sleep but we do it so we can stay "in the magic". Don't get me wrong. I love Disney as much if not more than a lot of people who say they are die-hard fans ( please don't flame me for that statement) but there has got to be a limit on cost somewhere.

is this new? i know in Jan of 04 they had park to park buses..when others said "no" i looked on the trans. map from that trip( figuring i must have been hallucinating when we got on a bus from ak to epcot, ect) and they are all listed. the only exception is to mk( need to go to ttc so basically what 's the diff.) and water parks- other parks .

also agree about the cost...don't really have complaints about anything but the resort prices vs what you get( comparing to other resorts, not the theming ect which i would pay a lttle more for but really you are paying about 50-100% more for, especially since the trans. is open to anyone with a pass)and the meals( not cs so much )but some ts is really crazy and i don't think it's in line with the surrounding area..know it's a theme park and all such food is expensive but i already paid a lot for a room, ticket, any souvies..does the food really have to cost so much??? i mean $16 for sweet an sour pork???( maybe $8 here for a plate with an egg roll and soup and rice thrown in) $18.50 for spagetti and meat balls?????( maybe $9-10 locally)( we don't live by nyc but we do live close to an urban area...)
personally it is listed but bares repeating..it's really stupid to have to ride all over creation to get from one resort to another.

But you couldn't get to ANY other park from Magic Kingdom without either taking the monorail or ferry to the TTC and switching to the MGM or AK bus or to the Epcot monorail, or by walking over to the Contemporary and catching a park-specific bus from there!

I think having to take the buses at all is inconvenient. I know what Walt was trying to do making the place so big (keeping out other influences), but this has made it very tough to get around quickly. I prefer Universal in this respect because I can get from one end of the complex to the other much quicker.

The biggest inconvenience to me is paying so much to stay at WDW resorts and still having to stand in line with the "others". Again, a lesson they could learn from Universal. The advantage of having Front-Of-The-Line at UO more than makes up for the difference in the hotel price versus staying offsite. It is a much bigger advantage than all the other "perks" combined that WDW offers their resort guests. And the reduced resort rates UO offers for Preferred Annual Pass holders makes it reasonable versus the comparable WDW resort (i.e., $170/night at Portofino versus $350+/night at GF).

There are too many Disney resorts for front of the line to work properly. The deluxe people would complain that they had to stand in line with the value people, and the offsiters wouldn't get to ride at all.

Walt died before the MK opened; he didn't make WDW big, his successors did. If it wasn't so big, I'd get bored. I can do Universal in a day.

Is the $350+ a night rack rate or AP rate for GF? I've been a WDW AP holder for 5 years and never stayed at GF, probably never will. At least Universal doesn't require a nonrefundable deposit.

Automatic flush toilets!!! They're everywhere (almost), and my DD (almost 6) is terrified of them, so I have to cover the sensor (but I just got the great idea from this board of bringing post-it notes to use instead so hopefully that works!) and be in the stall with her and she's a bit too old for that (and so, quite frankly, am I).

That being said, I'm looking forward to seeing some of those toilets in 6 days!!!!!

Hmmm.. I guess I've been so many times I've worked the inconveniences into my routine.

Inconvenience 1:

Constantly checking rates on all of my preferred hotels until I find one that hits the magic number. I won't stay at anything other than a Lagoon or Monorail hotel, but I will SO not pay rack rate, so I have to watch the rates like a hawk. Swan/Dolphin or renting DVC points is generally the best way to go, getting me $175 a night or less (after all taxes/fees) but it takes planning and perserverance.

Inconvenience 2:

Staying at the Boardwalk (my preferred hotel) makes it annoying to get to/from the monorail (around a mile walk) but it saves a lot of time from waiting for buses at the very end of the day if coming back from the Magic Kingdom. Sometimes. Unless my feet are killing me.

Inconvenience 3:

The Boardwalk Hotel itself is laid out with only central elevators which means you can walk like half a mile to your room. Ugh.

Inconvenience 4:

Swan/Dolphin concierge lounge has no complimentary cocktails.

Think that whole thing is baloney about the security. Have no real reason why it was implemented other than to slow down the people getting into the parks.

Your right Minijeanie, it must cost more money. But don't blame Disney. They put it into action because some guests were abusing the system.

A hassle yes, but I've been doing this with AP, and it's just a little hassle.

I agree about the security checks. I wanted to mention one point about the finger scans - if you purchased the tickets together and used them together the first day then all of your families scans are on file together for all the tickets. They wanted to make sure I don't use two days of a ticket and then sell it but make it ok for a family that may have inadvertantely switched a ticket.

So when you buy tickets in a group they are related and scanned in the group, this can explain why your family could switch tickets without alerting the CM. OTOH my sister probably can't use my ticket without an alert for the CM to check her id.

Another vote for the resort to resort but inconvenience - I know it would be a logistical nightmare but I wish they had another transfer point.
