wdwgirl and Dad do Disney:an April '10 PTR...TR LINK ADDED!! p. 56

No new news, but I just wanted to give a big :welcome: to my sister Emma who just joined the DIS! :disrocks: I think she's going to spend most of her time on the College Board trying to get more info on the College Program but hopefully she'll come post on here too. :thumbsup2

Her username is psherman42 (any ideas where she got that name from?! ;)). Maybe if we wish her a :bday:party: she'll come post (her birthday is Monday!).

Happy Birthday psherman42! (aka Emma) :bday: Love your username and good luck with the college program! ZeroToHero (Danica) is a poster on my TR that just recently was accepted into the college program. I'm sure she'd be willing to answer any questions you may have. :thumbsup2

Mousejunkies! by Bill Burke is a Tips, Tales and Tricks for a Disney World Fix *all you need to know for a perfect vacation* book that offers "inside information from fanatics who go year after year, several times a year, who spend all their waking hours planning their next trip...." Yep, that's for me! I've really enjoyed reading it.

I'm very jealous of you and dad. :(

I wish you could come too. :sad2: That is why we must go in December! And to Harry Potter. :)

Hmmm, I might have to check that out!

Welcome Sarah's sister--Emma.
What a funny User ID name.
I sort of regret mine, not that your's is bad,
but I wish the DIS, would let us do a re-do, mulligan, etc.,
and maybe pick a new screen name, with our old name underneath or something.
Anyways, how exciting about the Disney CM program.
I wish I could talk my dd into applying.
I told her to talk to some of the younger CM's this week,
when she is at the MK.

Happy Belated Birthday,
one day late.
I'm so sorry, I didn't see this yesterday.

What a cool list.
I saw the Troll's in Norway and commented to my dh,
that I never saw them before.
I'm not going to tell you where they are,
but you will see them, if you look in a certain direction.

Woo hoo, it's Friday!

I just realized something too...it's the day of 25s!

Today I turn 25 years old (I don't know how that happened :scared1:) and

Today we are 25 days away from Disney World. :dance3:

I don't know how I didn't notice that before.

Anyways, as I mentioned several times before I bought that Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World book. I read through it once and then went back to reread it so I could highlight things I want to look for. I finally finished my second read the other day so I thought I'd share a few of the "secrets" I found interesting/things I'm going to look out for when we're there:

Magic Kingdom
:magnify: Walt and Roy Disney's windows
:magnify: Lady and the Tramp at Tony's
:magnify: The "chess pieces" on the top of the Haunted Mansion...apparently one of the Imagineers involved in the HM loved chess so he included some details that looked like chess pieces on the roof
:magnify: Mr. Toad in the HM pet graveyard
:magnify: a hidden Stitch in the mural at Buzz Lightyear
:magnify: The sword-shaped bricks near the Carousel
:magnify: The spider/tarantula at the Jungle Cruise...I don't really know what this is all about but it said to ask a CM about it. I want to know what they say! LOL.

Epcot
:magnify: The Dream Maker (or dream machine, whatever it is called...I'm drawing a blank) at Mouse Gear. It's from the original Journey Into Imagination
:magnify: The trolls hidden throughout Norway...the book said they might only be out during the Flower and Garden Festival, but obviously we'll be there during the festival. Hopefully we'll be able to find some of them!
:magnify: The water bowl in China. It's in one of the shops in China and it says you can make it whistle like a wine glass. Might need a CM to help with that but it sounds very interesting.

Hollywood Studios
:magnify: The sign in Tower of Terror...it says some of the letters have fallen away and create a spooky message. Oooohhhhhhh...
:magnify: A Nemo hidden in a mural in Toy Story Mania
:magnify: The Singing in the Rain umbrella
:magnify: The key under the mat at Muppet Vision

Animal Kingdom
:magnify: Some of the quiet pathways around the Tree of Life. There is one that has a wall with holes drilled into it and they focus on certain carvings on the tree. That's kind of cool!
:magnify: The Cretaceous Trail

OK, wow, that is a pathetic list. I know there is more that I highlighted but it's time for school. I'll add the rest later and share some AK plans!

Have a great weekend!

I laughed when I saw her username...it is pretty funny. When I saw Sherman I thought it was some reference to the Sherman brothers. I told Emma that and she was like "who are the Sherman brothers?" :rotfl: We're kind of obsessed with Finding Nemo.

Thanks Marisa. :)

When we were there in '08 I know we saw a couple of them hiding in one of the gardens. But I think I read there are a lot more than that.

Hey Sarah,

I talked to Danica and she said to add her on facebook and she'll explain to you or your sister whoever . But if you go on my facebook under my friends look for Danica B. then add her she already knows so she will be waiting.
I'm sure she can help Emma with her questions.:thumbsup2

Welcome Sarah's sister Emma! I love the psherman reference. We're Finding Nemo fans here as well.

HEEEEEEY! I know I'm super late jumping into this trip report, but I'm all caught up and currently listening to the Wishes Soundtrack you posted on your Top Ten Songs! :goodvibes

OK, cool...I just added her as a friend. :) I know my sister would really appreciate any info on the CP.

We actually just watched Nemo last night. :thumbsup2

Hope everyone had a good weekend!

I can't believe we'll be in Disney World in 22 days! :yay::dance3::banana::wizard:

Are you ready for some more plans? There's only one park to go...

Animal Kingdom Plans!!!

Animal Kingdom EMH
4/7 AM EMH 7:00-8:00 am
4/10 AM EMH 7:00-8:00 am
4/12 AM EMH 8:00-9:00 am

Gotta love those 7:00 openings! haha I'm still a little disappointed they don't have any PM EMH while we're there. I know they don't have a lot open but since we've never been there at night I thought it would be cool to go if they had them. Oh well, guess that'll have to be on a future trip. :sad2:

And while looking at the park hours, there was this fun fact posted on the WDW site:

At Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park, to keep 1,000 animals happy takes about 3 tons of food a day… that's a 4.5 year supply for the average person.

Just thought I'd share. ;)

If you don't already know, Animal Kingdom is my second favorite park. I love it there! I love seeing all the animals and it's kind of relaxing with all the trails and stuff. The one day that we are for sure going to Animal Kingdom is April 9 because that's the day we are doing the Backstage Safari tour! I'm really looking forward to this. It's going to be fun getting some behind-the-scenes info on the park. The tour starts in the afternoon, so we'll get there for opening so we can do some of the other attractions beforehand.

Animal Kingdom must-dos include:
:simba: Expedition Everest...hopefully twice
:simba: Kilimanjaro Safaris...one of my all-time favorites!
:simba: Dinosaur...this ride freaks me out but there's no way I can ever skip it.

Once we get to those, then we can do some of the other attractions, like:
:simba: Primeval Whirl
:simba: It's Tough to be a Bug...part of the reason I want to do this is just to see some of those animal carvings my Hidden Magic book was talking about!
:simba: Maharajah Jungle Trek and/or
:simba: Pangani Exploration Trail

If it is warm enough, maybe we'll do Kali River Rapids but that will definitely be AFTER the tour. We're not going to walk around soaking wet! LOL. I might also want to see Festival of the Lion King again or Finding Nemo: The Musical.

And if you've ever done it, tell me about the Flights of Wonder show. I know it's a bird show but we have never seen it (probably because I remember going to a bird show at the zoo and one of the birds ended up flying really close to us and we freaked out. hahaha). But I'm kind of curious. :confused3

YAAAAAAAAAAY FOR 22 DAYS! :banana::woohoo::dance3:

I love Animal Kingdom
As I get older, I fall more & more in love with it.

That totally stinks there are PM EMHs while yall are there. That would've been awesome to go to! But hey, AM EMHs are just as great! :thumbsup2

You should totally see Festival of the Lion King again. It's such a great show! But if you've seen it plenty of times, I can see how it'd be easier to skip over and spend more time on Everest or something like that. I've only seen it once and that was this past Christmas trip, so it's still newer to me!

Your trip is coming up so soon!

Animal Kingdom is starting to grow on me. It's my least favorite park, but I think the only reason for that is the gosh darn hotness of it all. We've had crap luck on Kiliminjaro Safari seeing any animals so it's not something we seek out to do, and half way thru the day we're ready to get out of there because we're melting and want to avoid getting a bit snarky with one another.

But I love the rides there, I love the Tree of Life and all its carvings, I love the scenery, I love the FOTLK and Nemo shows....... I can't wait to go in Nov/Dec to get a different perspective on it all.

Oh, and while I've never been to Flights of Wonder, here's a posting of someone who has and did a great write up on it -->http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=35340561&postcount=843

I read somewhere, that they are going to keep open the Animal Kingdom park longer in the summer.
When I did a tour a few years ago at the Animal Kingdom, we were told, the animals have to much stress being observed, and this is why the hours were shorter in this park.

Nice plans for AK. I've never heard of the 7am openings. Can't imagine they'll be very busy that morning!

Flights of Wonder is a great show. I like it because I'm a big animal buff. Seeing all the different birds is really cool. If you don't like birds flying over your head or getting close to you, I wouldn't recommend the show. It is something to see!

Dinosaur is probably my favourite ride at AK now. If only I can convince my mom to come on it.... that'll be the day.

You'll have to tell all about the Backstage Safari Tour. I'm really thinking about doing this when we're there next.

We did Flights of Wonder for the first time last year during our May trip. It was an enjoyable show, not something I'd want to see everytime, but I'm glad we saw it.

While there is a funny set-up as part of the show, there is a lot of factual information and demonstrations of natural bird behavior.

BTW---I am a little afraid of birds flying toward me, but it was ok. There were a couple of times a bird would swoop down over the audience, and of course, we would all shrink down hoping it wouldn't get us!
