I am so irregular with it. When I figure the date out six months ago I wasn't suppose to have it. But with the months coming early and late. I am going to have it when we are in wdw. I suffer with really bad cramps, does anyone have a suggestion what I can take? I don't want anything to slow me down.
Thank you in advamce

only advise i have is to go on the pill ;) i would have had mine our trip a couple weeks ago but being on the pill i did the back to back packs trick to skip it.

Go on the pill, and then skip your period that week if it falls then.

I get terrible cramps too- so bad that sometimes I need up to 4 advils to get rid of them....if I don't have medicine to take I am curled up in a ball crying.

Goodluck with whatever you decide!

I agree with the Aleave. I don't get really bad cramps but if I cramp at all I take two of them and they pretty much last me the entire day.

T.

I agree with Aleve. If I take it pretty quick, and take every twelve hours, then I am alright. I am still uncomfortable, but the pain is bearable.

I can't swallow pills, so I take junior strength chewable Motrin every 4 hours, whether I have cramps at the time or not. I used to get really bad cramps, but if I make sure to take the Motrin faithfully, I'm fine.

I agree with Tonga...start taking medicine and no matter what- don't stop. When I stop and wait til I have cramps again, it takes FOREVER to get them to go away again. I always give myself a steady stream of medication regardless of pain.

Aleve. Absolutely.

I've also used Salon Pas patches and slapped two on my lower back and one on my lower abdomen about where the uterus would be. It helps relieve the muscle cramping. I've also tried Biofreeze. I get that from my chiropractor, who passes out samples that would fit in your wallet. Like the others, at the first hint that you feel the cycle's onset, take the Aleve.

I read in a magazine that soda makes cramps worst so drink lots of water instead.

Also, maybe trying to eat healthier and exercise. I have noticed a pattern that when I do not do either of those two I cramp and have a heavier cycle.

I use to have pretty bad cramps back in my younger days. I no longer suffer from cramps duning my cycle. Aleve did nothing for me and other pills seem to take about a hour to kick in. Then I tried Hylands Homeopathic Menstral formula. It worked quickly and effectively. Then I ordered a small stach of cloth pads which eliminated the exposure to the chemicals in the disposable pads. It has been about 6 or 7 years now with pain free periods. When I made the switch it was for a different reason but with that bonus I have no complaints and I don't dread AF as much as I did.

I agree, that if you have to take pain medication on a schedule instead of waiting for the pain. It actually takes more medication to stop pain then to prevent it.

I have severe cramping and the only thing that touches it and doesn't quite take it away is 800 mg. of Advil liquid gel caps (4) every 6 hours and 500 mg. of Tylenol rapid release (2) every 4 hours. I was told by my MD that this combo works better then most pain pills without the groggy side effects. I have to agree. She said that it doesn't just add together but, actually multiplies by working on each other.

My months have been much better since I started taking this combo. My pain is never gone but I can cope and have fun at WDW with this on board.

It isn't for everyone and I don't know your health history, so please take with caution but it works for me. Ask your MD if they think it would be good for you too.

Good luck... and I pray you have fun. Female issues are no fun. and even less at Disney.

I actually just had mine while we were in WDW 2 weeks ago! I can tell you it was a slight pain! I get really bad cramps and I have a presrciption for Naproxen. It really works-well! I have to agree with the water though, drink alot and it makes it better- I brought along the crystal light mini packs and it made it seem like I wasn't even drinking water.

I am on yasmin(BCP) no side effects.. i take 9 weeks straight, then just have a period every 10 weeks. They do this all the time in England.... getting fda approval here in the USA. There are some 90 days pills already out. Love it... !!

also if you periods are irregular you probably suffer from polycystic ovarian syndrome and the pill is the recommended treatment for it.

My DDIL suffered from cramps that were debilitating. After she had DGS she started getting the Depo shot. She gets her period once every 4 months or so and it is very light. Also no cramps. I tried the pill because of irregular periods and had to stop because of adverse side effects. Talk to your dr. They may be ablee to give you something to regulate your cycle and also a prescription strength Ibuprofen for the cramps.

I had my tubes tied after I had DS2, and after about a year of brutal, disgusting bleeding and cramps, I started using the Nuvaring. I found it to much easier than remembering to take the pills - when you're not worried about getting pregnant, it's hard to keep on top of them, lol.

With the ring, I get NO cramps and my periods last 3 days, tops, and are very, very light.

I get mine EVERY time I'm in WDW without fail. It really stinks! I'm very irregular and will usually only get 3 to 5 periods a year. You're probably thinking "lucky girl!" right? NO!! When I do get them, they are horrible. They make up for the ones I missed -- very heavy and once I had a period that lasted for 10 weeks. Not fun!! Even on the pill I'd still have bad cramps and it didn't regulate it too much.

I tried Nuvaring which worked well for a few months (I kept it in an extra week every other month and changed right to a new one, so I would skip every other period). Then, RIGHT BEFORE I went to WDW -- I got my period while still wearing the Nuvaring! Figures. But if it works for you, it takes very little getting used to and is super easy to use, very hassle-free and convenient. I'd give it a try if I were you.

In the last 2 years, I went to WDW 6 times, and had 6 periods. Guess when? ;) I've learned to just live with it. Unfortunately, due to other health issues I am already on pretty heavy-duty narcotics and can't take any OTC pain relievers with them (and they don't touch the cramping) so I can't help much on that question but I just wanted to say that I can totally sympathize. OH -- and bring plenty of supplies!! I found out the hard way that pads/tampons are VERY expensive in WDW!!

I have heard that staggering Tylenol with Motrin works wonders for moderate to severe pain, and I wholeheartedly agree with staying ahead of the pain. Stay on a schedule and take your next dose before you need it, or it won't work as well. You have to be smarter than your pain!
