WDW will NOT accept "codes" if you do not have the postcard.

Well of course some CM's DO ask for the AP. But a lot dont. Either way its not the same as the PIN thing.

Did you ever think that a post might be intended to help those in question and NOT a scate tactic?!?!?

I ALWAYS enjoy Disney w or w/o a "code".

Plus in all my trips using the AP rate i've NEVER been asked for my AP even thiugh i have one.

Me either! I have also never been asked for my postcard. When I had postcards in the past and used them I was always told that I did not need it at check in. The check in CMs assume that it was all taken care of when making the initial reservation.

they usually get your AAA number when you book the room. The one time I booked using AAA that's what they did. This pin fiasco is new, but they used to tell you that you had to show it at check in.

I've never been asked for my AAA when booking a room. I have two trips booked right now using AAA and wasn't asked for the number. I have been asked once at check in to see my AAA card but that was once in 10 trips using the AAA discount.

Careful folks.. we re-treading the same water all over again... that has gotten several other threads on this topic closed. Frankly I'm kinda surprised THIS thread is still open given how it's gone so far.

Once again - IF and UNTIL someone reports on here that their rate was changed and either they were contacted by WDW Reservations or had a problem at check-in .... then the rest of this is pure conjecture.

Well meaning posts intended to give a heads up.. or travel agents passing along word.. or whatever... it's still just rumor mill.. any way you look at it.

What we DO know so far.. Several people people have completed trips using the dreaded "CODE" and were NOT asked for anything upon check-in and had no problems whatsoever.

This much I know for a FACT. Cause *I* was one of them.

Please.. stop going back and forth. It just serves to make people unnecessarily anxious.

Of course anything is possible in the future.. but until we hear from someone who has experienced it FIRST HAND... we're just getting people nervous about nothing.

J

PS> Daisy D - your AAA number would be attached to your reservations record from previous trips I imagine.

I just spoke with my TA and she said that the 40% off code was for selected families only (those who had been notified by postcard, email, etc) and that Disney was going to go back to review everyone reservations who used the code and those who do not have the proper PIN with their name and code they will take the 40% off away from the reservation. So..if you don't have the PIN..looks like you don't get the discount even if you have already made reservations.

This is actually the post i'm referring to.

But regardless of what a few CM's say the fact remains - they cant say that proof of postcard offer is required at check in if they dont have on the confirmation they send you. And besides that everyone knows that if you call 10 CM's and ask the same question youll get 10 differnt answers.

The point i was trying to make when i said stop the scare tactics is that there is no need to come back and open a dead post just to report a rumor that cannot be proven or disproven. It's just stirring people up for no reason.
Not only that , but the board moderator, Trekker, has REPEATEDLY asked people to stop the endless speculation of what will/won't happen, and what so and so said.

When you consider that this SAME exact topic/argument/discussion has been hashed out repeatedly on this board, it does make one wonder about the motivation behind bringing it up all over again. As you can see, you didn't share any info that hasn't already been shared and the outcome is always the same -- people get freaked out by what may or may not happen and so far, reports are indicating that there is no reason to be worried about reservations made with the code.

JMO.

who's giving scare tactics? If everything is on the up and up no one has any reason to be scared whatsoever.

I stand up and admit it :
I USED THE CODE. I HAVE NO PIN IN THE RECORD OF MY ACCOUNT.I AM NOT FEARFUL OF LOSING MY RESERVATION, NOR DO I CARE IF SOMEONE THINKS I SHOULD BE BECAUSE I'M MORALLY BANKRUPT AND USING THE CODE IMPROPERLY. MYOB!

PS> Daisy D - your AAA number would be attached to your reservations record from previous trips I imagine.

They never asked for it on my first trip or my last trip. They generally don't ask. I've never been asked for it while making reservations because it isn't done for room only reservations.

this would be sort of on the same lines as booking an AP rate (which you can do without an AP in hand) and then checking in and not having/able to show your AP. WDW would then charge rack rate for the room.

No its not. This has been circulated many times and two people even reported that they did not have to show any postcard. The AP rates requires you to. The Disney promotion is not a AAA card nor an AP, it is a way to get people into the parks.

And I agree with the poster who commented about scare tactics. It seems its coming from the people who called numerous times and never recieved the discounts and are now trying to blow off steam by trying to A) make people feel guilty or B) saying you will get caught like its a crime. To reiterate, Disney would have put a stop to this a month and a half ago when it started, or at least when canadian guy checked into his room. They didnt, so NO ONE has anything to worry about. It says no where on the postcard that you need to present it at check-in.

Speculation or not, I thought this was a discussion board!??? Discussions go both ways people, and you are not always going to agree with what you read.

What I don't get is that people who received the code, who know they probably shouldn't have, have posted threads right and left carrying on about how lucky they are. Great! No hard feelings here, I am genuinely happy for you! But then people who post anything negative about what they heard from CM's about this mess, and there are quite a few postings, are blasted and the threads demanded to be closed. I don't get it :confused3

Yes indeed.. This horse is dead -- AGAIN.

The problem with the messages telling people their reservations will be changed or cancelled is simply this -- NOBODY's has been changed or cancelled yet. Not one person has reported that.

Until someone does.. discussing this topic.. is like religion, politics and gay-days... it just serves to angry folks up and doesn't pass along helpful information.

Let's leave it be. For the love of Mickey.

well I only booked using AAA one time as I try my best to wait for the AP or FL rates before booking and they did ask me. As with anything else it seems it depends on the CM you are dealing with.

Because we have been asked by Trekker the moderator NOT to discuss hearsay and speculation.

Theres a difference between speculation and fact. Fact is 4 people have come back using the code with no pin with no problem. Speculation is that people are stirring the rumor mill saying no pin no discount. There is no other side of the debate really, unless people bring up the morality issue, but the moderators nor many of us want to discuss anymore because its :offtopic: for these boards.

there is no need for yelling at me or telling me to myob...this is a public message board...I didn't say anything regarding your use of the code or morals.

uhh i was not yelling at YOU personally - i was jokingly standing up and yellling like in the old commercials "I'M MAD AS H@@@ AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!!"
SORRY YOU DIDNT GET IT.

woops!! Over my head! Sorry....I have a tendancy to think those who quote me are directing towards me!!

I personally think WDW should lower room prices all around!! I can dream right?
