WDW will NOT accept "codes" if you do not have the postcard.

Hi all, I just wanted to let you know that the CM I spoke with 5 min ago said, "That is a pin ONLY code." He asked where I got it and I told him the internet. He said he had heard that people were being advised to keep calling back until you got a CM that didn't ask for the pin. He informed me that "Even if they successfully make a ressie using the code, upon check in, without the pin offer, your rates would be REVERTED BACK TO THE FULL RACK RATE!" I politely thanked him and left it at that.

I hope this answers a few questions that have been floating around about pin vs no pin.

Many have heard the same thing, including me. I don't think there is a question about whether or not it is a pin code. It is, and everyone knew it. Regardless of how many times they called back, the rate was offered. I think there was a larger question on whether people actually had the pin code attached to their household or not. Some CM's said they had it, some said they didn't. :confused3

People are actually starting to travel the dates that the pin code covers. I guess time will tell whether or not some are reverted to rack or not. I guess in this case you have to plan for the worst and hope for the best.

Several people have come back already and said that nothing happened at check in.:cool1: pixiedust:

So, I get a confirmation with the discount rate and make my completed payment prior to the trip..........upon arrival I'm told I now have to pay full rate????????? Sounds like just a tired CM making a random statement. This just simply won't happen. If I arrive with my trip confirmed as paid in full, they are not going to wait until that time to say, oops!

The CM I spoke with named this site as the place where he'd seen it (not me), so it could be that he's taking the situation into his own hands???

Remember the episode of seinfeld where the soup natzi randomly decided who would get soup and who wouldn't??? :happytv: Reminds me of that! :rotfl:

That is the truth, but there are several more still to travel. I think that would absolutely stink if Disney did that, BUT if you look at other posts, people are still questioning the safety of their ressies regardless of whether others have been successful or not. Let's face it, one thing Disney is NOT is consistent. At check-in, if I got the rate, there would be a cloud of dust where I once stood, cause I would be grabbing my room key and wind sprinting like crazy out the door! :goodvibes Kidding, but good luck to y'all!

This has already been proven false by the reports of at least 2 people who have returned from trips using the code without having a pin and not being questioned even once.

TA's get a commission on the $ value of what they sell, therefore its only natural that some TA's are discouraging use of the code.

that's right...2 people have already gone with nothing being asked at check in..pixiedust: party:

Princess-rn, , , Only Disney knows how much potential revenue they lost by giving discounts to those not targeted,

Disney didn't lose4 any money...People who had booked a value resort moved up to a deluxe resort...they made money..:rotfl:

I agree...If they ar to changer the rate they would have to do it before you go, and that is not going to happen...People have already gone and nothing happened...:thumbsup2

Just want to note, that in my Shareholders' annual report/packet, there is nothing about DIS and the 40% mystery!

*sniffle* We're not that important :D

I never get a postcard or an e-mail for discounts what is that.

this would be sort of on the same lines as booking an AP rate (which you can do without an AP in hand) and then checking in and not having/able to show your AP. WDW would then charge rack rate for the room.

I don't believe for one minute that this will happen. I've been to WDW many times and used a postcard/email discount on quite a few of those trips and I've never been told that I had to present the postcard or a pin at check in. If you got lucky enough to get the rate applied to your ressie and have a confirmation there is no way that Disney is going to inform you upon arrival that you will now be paying 40% more, not gonna happen.

No, not really. With an AP rate, you are told that you must show proof at check in. You know that you have to have it. With the pin/code rates, you are NOT told that---I know of no one who has ever been asked to show proof of it via email or postcard.

Plus in all my trips using the AP rate i've NEVER been asked for my AP even thiugh i have one.

Yeah, I have heard that they rarely ask to see an AP. They didn't ask to see my AAA card last year either, lol.

I highly doubt they are gonna ask to see an email... :thumbsup2

they usually get your AAA number when you book the room. The one time I booked using AAA that's what they did. This pin fiasco is new, but they used to tell you that you had to show it at check in.

If youre booking a AAA package then yes you need to give the pin number but not for a room only because Disney has no way to verify if the AAA # is even legit.

Either way, i really wish that everyone would stop with all the scaremongering. People have gone and returned without being asked to show the pin postcard, no ones ressie says you must show the postcard, and legally if they dont tell you you need to show it then they cant force you to at check in. AP ressies and AAA ressie do say that you need it on checkin. These pin ressies DON'T.
Just be happy for those who got it, hope that those who didnt get something later on and stop with the scare tactics.

I went to CBR last weekend on an AP rate and yup, they asked to see my AP's. I was kidding and said 'glad I remembered them' and she said 'yep or else I couldn't give you your discount'.

Don't know about the whole pin thing but they did ask to see my AP. :confused3
