One month from today...
I could very well have a new baby!
I guess I logically knew that this pregnancy had to end at some point, but I don't think it really sunk in until recently.
So I have a C-section scheduled for Dec 13th, and depending on how things go between now and then, I might be t-minus one month to baby. Everett was nearly 9 1/2 lbs, and despite my best efforts (three hours of pushing

) he ended up going into distress and I had to have the C-section.
I really wanted to avoid having a C-section this time around, but it all will depend on how big this baby is looking. I have another ultrasound scheduled for 37 weeks, and if it looks like this will be a normal sized baby, my OB is fine with letting the chips fall as they may, but if he looks like another big boy, he has advised on the planned c-section.
Based on how huge I am, and how hard this baby is pummeling my insides, I have a feeling he is going to be another big boy, so I'm not getting my hopes up. There are pros and cons to both sides, but as long as I end up with a healthy little boy, I will be counting my blessings.
Having a potential end date really got me motivated and this weekend we pretty much finished up everything we needed for this baby. I ran into a few snafus, which I found really frustrating, since I was trying so hard to be on top of things, but they were quickly resolved.
I ended up bringing all the mechanics for my baby swing, but I realized that the seat pad is in storage in Virginia.

I just bought a duplicate of the swing, took out the padding to use while I'm here, and then I'm just going to sell the extra swing on craigslist when I'm ready to move.
I made a similar boneheaded move with the pack and play. My mom had one up here, but it didn't have the bassinet attachment. My brilliant plan of leaving my pack and play in storage, and just bringing up the attachment part would have worked great, if they were the same brand.
I ended up turning to trusty craigslist again and found someone selling a brand new, unopened pack and play, with the bassinet and changing table for $29- SOLD! The only snafu is that it has pink trim, but I figure it serves this baby right for fooling us into thinking it was a girl in the beginning anyway.

I'll use it while I'm here and then sell it back on craigslist when I'm done.
Everything else ended up with all its parts accounted for, and is now washed, set up, or folded and put away.
We've also been doing some "baby practice" with Everett, which has been met with mixed results. I bought him a baby doll, and we're using it to try and teach him not to touch the baby's face or head, or smother the baby, or maul the baby. We've been moving around the house in and out of the various baby gear, and Everett is sort of getting the concept. He seems very excited about having a little brother, and means very well, but shoving Thomas trains in the baby's face saying "Baby, you like Thomas?- here you play!" makes me a little nervous about this child's survival chances.

I guess he'll learn to be tough, and quick, right?
I do have to say that watching Everett go over to the "baby" and asking "You want to watch Mermaid or Beast? Which one you like baby?" does sort of melt my heart.

I can only hope that that type of behavior will continue once the real baby is here!
