I read somewhere that it's good to rent a WDW travelogue video so that small children will know more what to expect .... not the free one that Disney sends, but a more detailed one that shows the attractions. Our Blockbuster doesn't even have a travel section. Does anyone know if such a video exists, and where I might find it? Thanks in advance.

Our blockbuster doesn't carry them anymore either. Try calling a travel agent. They usually have them and will let you borrow them if you are planning a trip.

Try your local library too. A lot of Libraries now have extensive video collections and many travel related ones to borrow.

When we took my DS to Disney when he was almost 3 (about 2 years ago) I got for him "Disney's Sing Along Songs: Disneyland Fun - It's a Small World". It was recommended to me from someone's post on this discussion board.

It was great - not only did it get him excited for the trip, it also prepared him for the characters (how big they are in comparison to his size). Even though it is filmed at Disneyland (and not Disneywold) it shows kids running around and singing and going on the rides, I don't think my son would ever know the difference. I just want to warn you, although I don't know how old your kids are, to just look out for the Haunted Mansion song. It really is relatively tame and it doesn't bother my DS now, but when he younger he didn't like it. Also, I think that the video was taped in the late 1980's or early 1990's so to us it looks dated, but to kids it just looks like a lot of fun.

I bought mine (2 years ago), and have also seen it recently, at my local Toys R Us. I also just checked Amazon and they sell it there as well for about $10. You could probably get one on ebay if you wanted to go that route.

I have passed this tip onto friends of mine and their kids loved the video, hope it works for you as well!!

Yes! Definitely invest in the Sing A Longs. I bought two of them years and years ago (it had to be in 1987) when I was teaching on the elementary level and the children loved them.

My DD, 2 yrs old, watches the Sing-along videos too! The DisneyLand Fun one is perfect for a MK pre-view.

We have the vacation planning video from 2 yrs ago and it is really nice, set mostly to song. My DD loves that too!

I do not know of any other "planning videos" other then the one direct from Disney. The Sing - Along videos are great. Disneyland Fun will give a great introduction to the Magic Kingdom. Beach Party at Walt Disney World will give a great overview of the waterparks. Camp Out at WDW is another one but is outdated since both attractions it covers are closed (Discovery Island and River Country).

We have a WDW vacation planner DVD.

My 4DD absolutely LOVES it. She wants to watch it all the time. She likes going to the interactive map and choosing which park we're going to watch.

Funny, she doesn't care too much about watching the resorts clips. ;)

Right now she's really into the POTC. She loves to watch the POTC ride preview on the DVD.

We also have a copy of the POTC:TCOTBP DVD. On the 2nd disc it has the making of the ride. She loves to watch that, too.

She likes to sing "Yo ho, yo ho, a pirates life for me" along with the pirates in the video.

Actually, that's one of the things we really like to do together -- curl up on the couch and watch the WDW Vacation Planner DVD. Mom's not too hip on it, but we're working on that. ;)
