WDW to Universal?

I'm trying to plan a trip for next year with my best friend and she mentioned wanting to go to Universal studios as well. Has anyone done that before? Is there transportation from the airport to universal or transportation from WDW to universal? What is easier to do?

In February, we spent four days at Universal before going to WDW. We booked a Mears town car to get from the airport to Hard Rock Hotel and from HRH to WDW. Each was about fifty dollars. Mears was on time and we had no problem.

We used Dreams Unlimited. They can pick you up at your resort and you get one hour early entrance.

Thanks! Is it possible to go to universal but still be staying at a WDW resort? How far away is it?

You can call Mears the night before you want to go and they will give you a choice of pick up times. They pick you up at the front of your resort to go to US/IOA. Cost is about $18 round trip. Call Mears 2 hours or so before you want to go back to your resort. They will give you the return times. We do it all the time and never had a problem. Depending on how many stops they have to make, it takes around 45 minutes to an hour. You sometimes have to stop at Sea world or a pick up at another resort. depending on how many are going, you can also take a cab over but that runs about $40 one way.

When did you last use them? We have used them twice and received early entry, but the last time was in Sept 2012. Some others on the Universal board posted the tickets could no longer be used for early entry.

It's been three years but checked with them in October of 2012 and they were still doing it then. Don't know if early entry is still possible.

We went through Mears in September 2013. It was $18 per person and they picked us up in front of our Disney Resort (CBR). When we were ready to leave, we called the number and Mears was there to pick us up. It took a little longer to get back to CBR, we had to go to Sea World and other resorts, both inside Disney and off site, but I think it was around 45 minutes to an hour. Have fun!!!!!!

I have used the Mears shuttle from WDW to US/IoA several times....worked very nicely each time. I have been able to get to US/IoA in time for rope drop, but had to leave WDW by 7:30.
As far as the early entrance goes...I have never seen that as a perk of using the DU deal. But, who knows. There could have been a different deal that the ones I've used. I do know that when I used Mears to get over to US/IoA to check into RPR, the only way I got into the park early was after I checked in at RPR, and then headed to IoA...about 20 mins before official park opening.

The early entry wasn't really something that was advertised. When you printed the tickets, they had Universal Travel Company printed on them, so that allowed you into WWOHP an hour early.

Is Mears still doing the shuttle to US? I try online to look at the "shuttle" service and they only show the airport as the pick up location.
