What ever happened to supporting your local economy this summer?
Positive percentage is a big deal. Its not good that it's high. My issue through this whole thing is the amount of people looking for any way to make the numbers look good.

What are you talking about? Who isn’t supporting their local economy? Also you should read through all posts to understand the conversation being had. None of us are trying to make any numbers look better, we’re simply discussing what they mean.

sigh. Did you even read what I quoted? I also suggest reading all of @DisneyJamieCA 's post.
No, he didn’t. And he likely won’t because it doesn’t fit his narrative. I’ve also notice a lot of deflection from this particular poster when the facts don’t line up with that narrative.

First. I will say parks where cases are high shouldn't open yet. As far as local parks, I love traveling all over the US to visit amusement parks and it saddens me to see so many almost hate on them. It will break my heart to see any park close.

All of that is to say that sometimes (not always) there is more to the numbers being reported and some further investigation needs to be done before freaking out.
Absolutely! Of course, the global media does not help creating alarmist headlines for them to earn revenue, but I am frustrated that some people cannot apply critical thinking and actually try and understand figures.

Except for months it's been "the parks shouldn't be open and you shouldn't be going to them" I'm at a loss here, it's a 180 degree turn here IMO.
Where I live cases are low enough that parks can open safely. Yes for months I have been against it and it all had to do the amount of cases. I love all amusement parks and love visiting them. If parks opened here in Ontario I would be ok with going as we have handled this quite well. People can change their mind.

Seriously this was 2 days ago!?
I am sorry but all theme parks shouldn't be open yet. I look at how we have done here in Ontario and ask why can't the US do the same. We just moved into phase 2. No theme parks open yet. Patios only are allowed as well as all retail. Our cases have been under 200 for a few weeks now. Again I ask why can't that be followed in the US.
And to boot you insult the U.S. saying why can't we be like Ontario and then you tell us we should be visiting the very parks you don't think should be open which aren't open in Ontario.

OMG I just can't even right now I just can't. I have a feeling I was much more right than I thought previously. Your motivations seem so much more about your ability to visit theme parks in the U.S. (by which you need Americans to visit to you know keep them in business I guess) but at the same time you tell people they shouldn't be open right now, everyone should be like Ontario and you don't know what so hard about a slow opening with social distancing and masks. My goodness here. You're a walking contradiction my friend and no offense meant but yeesh.

I was actively sick for a month, and am still trying to get myself back to a place where I can reasonably say I feel like my old self again. I still have to be driven everywhere because I can't walk any sort of distance, my sense of taste and smell come and go randomly, I get lightheaded when I stand for any length of time etc. etc. etc. I should mention that I was finally tested for Covid antibodies. It was positive, but I already knew I'd had it. if I had a big soapbox to stand on, I'd implore everyone to not take this lightly, to not think that even if you got it you'd survive and be fine. My case was called mild. I am not fine.

I should also add that I still don't know how I got infected. I was very careful-but of course masks had not yet been mandated when I got ill. I don't see how WDW can keep everything clean to the standard it would need to be to keep everyone safe. Why would *anybody* play this sort of Russian roulette with their health? For a theme park?

May I suggest that you go back and read what Jamie (and what I) posted. It's really important to understand what the numbers are saying, not just to see a number and react to it. Critical thinking means ignoring the headline, and trying to understand the number in context. It takes time to do that, and to review facts, and it requires making use of a variety of impartial sources of data.

And as I noted earlier, Ontario isn't doing so well either, compared to the rest of Canada. Unless Doug Ford is posting here, there really isn't any one poster who can claim credit for the outcomes.

I don't see the point of repeatedly telling Americans essentially 'you suck', yet there are people online doing just that. I'm quite sure that everyone posting here knows that the United States is having a challenging time, just as the UK did, and Italy, and Sweden. It's sad to see people view this as a competition, when the game pieces are human lives.

If you are living in an area which has managed to come into the downward curve quite well, be grateful, but know that most likely you personally did not do that much to cause that to occur (other than to stay home if possible, and that wasn't possible for everyone) I didn't vote for Merkel, so I cannot even take credit for that.

I'm sorry if I have upset a lot of you. My passion is amusement parks. I do understand it's a Disney centric board. I don't expect others to share my passion. It just gets frustrating any time I mention other parks anywhere, even on the community board, it gets either mocked or looked down on. All I want is all parks to survive this including Disney.

I'm going to say this as nicely as I can, because I believe that you are still a youth.

Message 1 - Dear Americans, your numbers suck right now. Please get your act together so that I can ride the roller coasters again.

Message 2 - Dear Americans, we feel for you. You are on a different path than many of us, and we hope that you can find your way to a good outcome quickly. We need you to be healthy, and to be ready to participate with the rest of the world soon. We'll be here waiting for you, and we hope you get well soon.

It may not be your intention to come across that way, but certainly as a 'new' (Decades old) reader, I interpret it that way. In contrast, I've posted a variant of message 2 more than a few times. Our country of residence is usually an accident of birth (except for the few who choose in life to move countries)

I understand that you want your holiday. All of our lives have been changed, and I could argue very well mine more than most here. But we need to remember that we are talking about people, not numbers, and that we need to find a way to good health for the world. Once that happens, we can all return to our leisure pursuits, or more importantly to try and put our lives back together again.

First I will say I am not young by no means. I am in my 40s. I don't mean for it to come off that way. I really just want us all to take this seriously and work together so we can all go back all amusement parks. My frustration comes from the many that keep finding ways to justify opening everything.
