WDW Planning adicts...... where should I stay day one(travel day)?

OK, my family and I live close enough to drive to world(about 6.5 hour ride). We normally like to stay at a hotel or value resort on our travelling day. This year we are staying at a DVC resort and I am considering a stay at a moderate resort or maybe AOA on our travel day. Any thoughts? Do you do something different? Just trying to stay in the magic.

We did a DVC stay on our last trip and chose to stay at Port Orleans Riverside for our arrival day. It's beautiful and we loved the boat to DTD, which felt like a great way to kick off the trip.

We (driving down I75) have spent the night in Ocala several times of our first night just to avoid using our DVC points
