WDW payment warning!

I have to admit, I'm a little ticked this morning. Not sure really if I should be madder at my credit union, or Disney.

I have been making payments on my package, one day $500 a few days later another $400. However at one point I made an additional payment before the prior one had cleared the bank. So instead of showing it as 2 separate payments, WDW showed it on my account as 1 large payment.

The problem came when WDW took the first payment out. Even after that, it still showed the lumped together larger amount as pending. So when a scheduled payment for another bill came due, my credit union looked at that huge pending amount and said I had no funds available.:headache:

Thank goodness my credit union payed my bill, but they did charge me $30. Not sure who I need to talk to, my bank or WDW. I really hope I can get my $30 back.

But I wanted to post this as a warning for everyone else. Don't make multiple payments on your package all at once. Let one payment clear before making another payment. Otherwise you may find yourself in a bind.

As a credit union employee... we couldn't have seen that problem. Disney is the on placing/releasing the hold essentially. Having said that, that fee would be happily refunded at my CU if you called and explained it was a vendor error :goodvibes So I wish you the best of luck in that regard.

Hey JaymeC, I'm a member of SECU and Marine Federal...both are great!:thumbsup2

I can see how this happened. I have belonged to my credit union for over 30 years. Many years ago I had the same problem with them holding that money until the bill was paid. After enough complaining they did upgrade their program so if I use my debit card/credit card the money is immediately deducted. No more waiting and wondering for things to be cleared. I just booked a surprised trip for Jan and I have a Southwest Visa CC so I pay in full to get points and then pay it off from our vacation account. I a sure you will be refunded the money.

I'd call Disney and ask them to refund you the fee. Worth asking the CU though.

The fee was charged by her CU, not WDW. I would start with the CU to have the fee removed. It's nothing out of the CU's revenue stream except one of the obnoxious fees that financial institutions charge; it would be a cost to WDW.
