WDW monorail

Hi-
I don't usually participate in this forum, but a holiday gift-related issue has come up in our family and my very first thought was, "I know who can help!"

On his Christmas list, my son has asked for the WDW Monorail that is sold all over WDW (yes, am kicking myself for not buying it this summer, though not sure how I would have smuggled it home.) Since he really asks for so little from Santa, I'd like him to get this.

Is there a way, and if so, what's the best way, to order something from the shops at WDW? Can a local Disney Store help, do you think? As the holiday in question is 3 weeks away, do you think timing will be an issue?

In advance - I really appreciate any help anyone can give. I've received so much help on the DIS this year that I consider it a new friend. Thanks.

Go online to The Disney Store.com, or call the 800 catalog number, I saw one in the latest catalog that might work for you.

Call your local Disney Store and they can give you the phone number for Disney Merchandising. You can order anything you saw at the park thru Merchandising.

If you have a Disney Store near you, the "Play" stores have the monorails & track in stock. HTH!

I'm sorry for not explaining better --- some of the Disney stores have been "redone" into stores called "Disney Play", which are pretty much glorified toy stores. We have two in our local area, and both have the monorails in stock.

does anyone know where a list of where these newly remodelled stores are? one gallery store i used to visit occasionaly was changed to a "home" store, was wondering if they remodeled one close by as a "play" store?

I don't know of a list but Tyson's Corner store was just redone. I was there a few weeks ago.

Just call around to the Disney stores near you... I've seen the black stripe monorail there recently in the Baltimore area.

Woo! Hoo! about the Tysons Store. We want to get one for our DS(or maybe ourselves), now we don't have to drag it back from WDW. We will be at Tyson's on Saturday for a DIS meet. All are welcome!

My son broke the plastic pin that hooks the cars to the engine. Has anyone seen just the monorail cars themselves for sale? I have seen only the sets, separate track and the buildings. Also, have any new buildings/structures been made?

I have only seen the monorail set for sale. You can obtain the set from:
1) WDW merchandising
2) Disney Catalog
3) certain Disney Store have been shipped this item.

ckay87: If you are near the King of Prussia mall, the store there has them. I got mine there about 3 weeks ago.

WDW and the catalog sell the Epcot and Contemporary add ons. I have heard that they are going to come out with a TTC sometime in the future (don't know if that is true, though).

Boy, I didn't realize what a hot item this is! Doombuggy, I'm about 45 minutes from King of Prussia (though I avoid the area at Christmas!) I called their Disney Store earlier today and the girl said they had them but were out. Getting more, but have a big waiting list so pat yourself on the back and consider yourself lucky.

Mine is on its way through WDW Mail Order (nobody seemed familiar with the term Merchandising.) The catalog has only the railroad. They charged me $11 for shipping, though. Oh well. Thank you all for your help - I wouldn't have guessed where to start.

I recently received a new Disney catalog and they had the monorail set with the Contemporary and Spaceship Earth for $100, vs $130 if bought separately.
