Ok, back in the day (25th anniversary celebration and also before that) there was a Walt Disney World Marching Band- my DBF is currently a music education major and has contemplated doing this next summer- he's never been to WDW before though (which is why we're going in 3 days!!) and I thought it'd be wonderful if we could catch the band; if anyone can give me any information I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks a bunch!

I'll bump this back to page one for you. One of our veterans can give you and answer to your question, I'm sure.

I don't know about the Disney band. but sometimes in the parades high school bands will play. There are several stages at Epcot too. Never know when you will find a performing group. My dd is a Music Ed. major and dh is a music teacher/band director. :)

Hi ...

As a band director myself, the bands and live music at WDW are always a big draw. Through the years I have always loved Disney's commitment to live music and the opportunities they offer for musicians of all ages. That being said, I was so disappointed that they did away with their MK marching band! There also used to be (and may well still be) wonderful opportunites for college musicians to come and play in the summer (I've had some former students participate). Anyway ... I haven't seen much of this lately and hope it returns. Maybe someone else will know a bit more. There are still some small ensembles that can be found in the parks and they are incredible. There is a fellow on the net who keeps track of live entertainment in the parks ... his name is Steve Soares and has a web site with prodigy. I don't recall the exact address, but I'm sure it can easily be found. Good luck with your search! And have a great time!

When I was in high school, the small town of Jay, Florida, our band marched in the MK parade! It was a lot of fun! Then, when I was in college at Florida State, I knew a group of brass players that would perform at Disney over Christmas and summer breaks. They used to go around and serenade the sorority houses with holiday music prior to the winter break. They were fabulous!!! I would also love to see Disney give high school and college musicians more chances to perform!

This is as about as close as it gets these days.....

Main Street Philharmonic
12-piece brass and percussion ensemble, plays in Town Square, re-creating
a turn-of-the-century ambience with tunes like "Take Me Out to the Ball Game,"
"76 Trombones" and "Alexander's Rag Time Band."

Sunday, Monday, Thursday & Saturday at 1:50 & 4:10pm
Friday at 4:10pm
Length of show: 20 minutes

I too remember the full marching band with great fondness! :)

I hope this helps.
