According to this map of the marathon course http://adisneyworldsports.disney.go.com/media/dwws_v0220/en_US/pdf/07MarathonCourseMap.pdf it appears that mile 24.5 - 25 goes by the Cresent Lake side of BC&YC.

How does this impact access to Cape May Cafe from the BW resorts? Our breakfast reservations are at Cape May at 9:30, just about the time the first finishers will be running by. Will the path be closed? Should we make any special plans?

TIA

Kelley - If I remember correctly, you can walk down the sides of the path. Just be careful crossing in front of runners. :cool1:

KeenerCam is correct. Once you have passed over the canal, walking from the BW to BC, there will be 2 yellow cones that denote a crosswalk. There will be volunteers there to insure that no one impedes a runners progress. Take into account they are nearing mile 25 and running up an incline, so the odds are in your favor. You will cross over and be able to walk the path to the BC on the BC side of the path. :sunny:

I have a question that is slightly related to this. Can family members watch the marathon at the BC/YC? I was thinking that would be a good area for them to see me towards the end of the race that wouldn't be too crowded.

Short answer: Yes! No crowds at all! We watched the marathoners after running the 1/2 last year and it was a lot of fun! Somewhat humiliating but fun!! The lead runners are cruising with no effort at all, and at mile 24+!! We had our coffee and tylenol and cheered them on!! Around 8:45 or so we went over to EC to watch (and cheer) the runners as they ran around WS. We'll see you out there this year!!! :thumbsup2

It's not only easy for your family to watch the runners go by the Beach Club, for you it will be wonderful and motivating to see them.

Last year I was really struggling from mile 18 on and one thing that kept me going was the thought that a friend or 2 might be at the Beach Club when I went by. I thought about this many times each mile and it kept me going.

As I went past the pool I began to look hard, and wouldn't you know it but I saw Cam (keenercam), Howard (kenho) and Mel (chimera). They were cheering and wearing their donald medals. I stopped to congratulate them, and gave out a hug and 2 hand shakes, and then went on. I cannot express what their presence at the Beach Club meant to me last January 8.

Good luck

Craig

That is great to hear, thanks! I thought it would be easier to spot people there rather than at the more crowded areas like the MK. Plus seeing them would definitely be a great boost in getting through the final part of the race. :thumbsup2

DH and I will be somewhere by the YC/BC on Sunday morning. I'll be screaming like a banshee for you guys doing the Full. I can't guarantee, though, that I'll be jumping up and down. I don't know that I'll be able to move much at all, actually. :teeth:
