If anybody has a suggestion I am up for it. My family of 5 are flying down via Southwest but had to fly one day ahead of our reservation at CR. What would be the best way to get to a hotel from Orlando airport, what hotel to stay in, and then the next day get over to the CR. Taxis I know are an option but do any hotels have shuttles over to the resorts. Thanks for any help.

For the past three years, we have arrived in the Orlando area (driving) around 3pm the day before our WDW stay.

Each time, we have stayed at the Doubletree at the entrance to Universal Studios.

The first year was just luck be we really liked the quality of the Doubletree (formerly Radisson Twin Towers at Universal's Entrance).

Beautiful lobby with great bell service. A wonderful, clean room. A TGIFridays is walking distance and a short drive away are numerous restaurants (Outback, Red Lobster, Hooters, etc).

And they have a huge pool that is great to relax in after your arrival.

And a cheap breakfast buffet in the morning that is just terrific!

Our room rates were $57 in 2002, $59 in 2003 and $69 in 2004...all during June or August.

Very reasonable for such a nice hotel.

Thanks I always like the Doubletree. Also since you are only probably a half hour away from me I take this as great advice. St. Charles area :cool1:

dont forget to try the Orlando thread here, some great suggestions on bidding for a room on Hotwire and Priceline with betterbidding.com

If you're going on or after July 1st, the Hotel Royal Plaza looks like a great deal, esp. w/ the mousesavers.com discount. I believe they have complimentary airport-to-hotel transportation... at least I think I remember them telling me that over the phone a few weeks ago. Plus, it's right there at Downtown Disney. I have not personally stayed there, though. It's a family-run business, so you know your money is going to a good cause ;)

We always use priceline when going anywhere that we are unsure of. We did this last time we stayed off WDW and bid a 4 star resort in International Drive area. We got the Rosen Centre for $38.00! It has a huge pool! We loved it! Here is the link:

Also, try www.biddingfortravel.com to see what bids are being accepted!

These are great resources! NEVER PAY FULL PRICE>>>>BUT STAY LIKE YOU DO!

:wave2: Thanks I have never tried the bids before but it doesn't hurt. How far out from the arrival time can you bid? I forgot to mention but we are arriving on June 15th. Also does anybody know of any othe complimentary transportation to hotels. And if we do stay at someplace like the Doubletree what is the best way to get to the WDW resorts (i.e. CR)?

I think you have 24 hours or so to bid, but remember that your credit card is charged...this is why we always bid about 2 to 3 days before we go so that we are sure...no one is sick...etc....

happy bidding!

we always use priceline! They are great!!!

Can you add a night to your CR reservation? Or make a one night room only ressie???? Depending on your transportation costs- airport to hotel #1, hotel #1 to hotel #2, etc. - it may not save much $$$$. I know we have free transportation through Disney from the Magical Express. We're flying Delta (with employee buddie passes!!!! thanks sis!!!!), but their are other airlines participating as well. They pick us up and deliver us both ways. What airline are you flying on??

Have a great trip!!! Renessa
