WDW for Couples - Post your questions and suggestions here!!!

My husband and I are going back to disney for 1 night in November (rest of the trip probably Universal). I was wondering if some of you stayed there and what you thought about the resort.

Vow renewal - how? Where?

DH & I are going for our 10th anniversary this fall. Currently excited but also feeling terribly guilty leaving DS3 & DS7 at home... Would love to know more about vow renewals!

(Sorry I took so long getting back to you)

They are not inexpensive. You can check out the Weddings/Honeymoons section on the forums for more information. There is not difference in prices between weddings and vow renewals.
Mine was 9 years ago and things have changed quite a bit in terms of pricing and what Disney allows. I only had 10 guests and had a Wishes event (the top tier fully customizable one that allows for a ceremony and reception). Now I think they'd make you have an Escape package no matter how much you're willing to pay them. We had a ceremony at the Wedding Pavilion and a reception in the Grand Floridian.
You can check out https://www.disneyweddings.com/florida/ for the different options. A lot of vow renewals do the Memories collection which is the lowest level option.

Hi, my fiance and I are planning our wedding and honeymoon at Disney in May 2015! My fiance has never gone to Disney. I have been searching for info for couples and it is hard to find! I was wondering which resorts and activities yall would suggest?

It all depends on what you guys like to do. Sports? golf? drinking? rides? food? each place has a plus and minus depending on what you love. Some are more quiet some are closer to the parks, some have great resort only activities some have great drinking holes, etc

being fit and being able to walk a lot vs. being into food and knowing by the end of the day you just want to sit and get back

Shopping vs. not shopping, boats, vs. busses, I mean it all really depends.

I am going for my Honeymoon in October, we are stating at POR because we stayed there about a year ago and the boat ride to DTD was great, we got caught in a rain storm, the boat stopped at the French Quarter and we ran like kids through the rain to the FQ main building and got a van back to Riverside, that nights adventure (dinner and the shopping in DTD, to the boat ride, to being back in our room is an adventure we won't forget.

If you guys are park stars then I would suggest something no the Monorail line, if the parks are not really a huge thing I would suggest something around the Boardwalk area as they have many resorts close together that have a lot of non park related things to do

Of course if you have the money to spare and love luxury, the Grand Floridian is the place t be, its very very beautiful and the look it gives off sure makes any honeymoon that much better

Hey gang, happy to have found this thread! Already bookmarked it so i can keep up with the chatter :thumbsup2

Hubby and I are heading down to see the Duck & Pluto (ok if we see the mice i guess we'll wave!) for two full wonderful weeks this fall -Last of October & 1st of November. We're celebrating our 30th and can hardly wait! We have huhmed & hahed over this for a few years, went for our 25th and really enjoyed ourselves but didn't feel 1 week was long enough. FINALLY we saved enough AirMiles (live in Canada) to cover round trip air, 2 week car rental, 2 day park-park Universal passes (hubby is a HP freak!) and hotel for the 1st night at airport since we don't land till close to midnight. Thought we couldn't afford it till i called to check out the rates i could snag over FD, somehow, really not sure, it has come in $2,000.00 cheaper just by moving our dates 1 week <thud>

Ok enough for now, just wanted to join in the group :cool1:

Welcome. We love longer trips too!

Our 25th anniversary trip is only 16 days away! I have so much to do to get ready! Our twin boys are almost 21 and they are watching the house and bird for us. We've been going to DLR by ourselves ever since they graduated from high school and this will be our first time at WDW.

Congratulations on your anniversary & trip. You'll have a great time at DW. I'm planning an Oct trip. The anticipation and preparation for a trip is a big part of the fun. Usually I write a list of important things just as a last minute reminder. On my last trip, there was one important thing I forgot but things worked out anyway. Have a great trip.

Just found this thread. Glad to know I am not the only Theme Park Nerd that goes with only my SO. We are empty nesters and do theme park oriented trips to Orlando (or SoCal) every few years. We will be in the Orlando area October 17-Nov-1 this years. The first 9 days will be at POP. I love doing Disney as a couple. Faster, better, smarter.

Couldn't resist here, we love going alone so we can go SLOWER, better, smarter! No longer do we have to rush to the next place someone else "needs to be at!!" :rotfl2:

Thanks!
I'm a preschool teacher off for the summer so I'm using my days shopping, planning, and cramming for WDW. I have my DLR packing list that I updated for WDW. We won't have a car, so I need to make sure we have everything. DH is a middle school math teacher and doesn't get off until 2 days before we go. So the packing and planning is up to me.

Wow, I just noticed I forgot to write that we were staying at the Art of Animation Resorts.

And it's going to be 2 nights... :D

So...

DH and I should be empty nesters.... kids are 18,23,25- they left and all moved back home- one with kids and a husband...

So our couple time is an welcomed escape. We are headed for our Disney retreat Sept 2014. This will be our 2nd couples trip. We are going without concrete plans this time.... well, not every minute planned like our family trips. I have reservations at Rose and crown, Boma, and Crystal Palace breakfast for an early entry to MK. The rest of the week DH just wanted to wing it....

We like trying resturants that we wouldnt ordinarily try with the grandkids in tow. I have tossed around the idea of just grabbing a drink and a light snack in some of the lounges. We did the Behind the Seeds tour and Richard Petty Driving experience last time. Thinking of the mouseboats, chilling on the Boardwalk or the archery experience this time. Of course, I have tenative park days planned and will reserve FP+ and a water park day where we can ride the slides and not just watch the babies.

I understand. We enjoyed our empty nest for a grand total of 5 whole weeks. Our DS lived at home during grad school and moved to NOLA for a job in May, our DD is a teacher and moved out 2 years ago and lived an hour away. She just accepted a position at a local school and has decided to go to get her masters. She moved home last weekend for 1 year so she can finish school. We love our kids but also look at our Disney trips as an escape. We try to take a couple trips a year for a couple weeks each but with one moving away we will shorten a trip so we can visit him.

I need help for our first day of our first couples-only trip over Labor Day weekend. DH and I get into MCO around 9:30am and we'll take a town car to the Dolphin. While our room will probably not be ready, I need ideas on what to do for the late morning/early afternoon. I am thinking about 2 different plans. One we go straight to MK and ride whatever we can (I will book FP+) before our 6:40 BoG ADR then stay until we are tired. Second idea is to just hang out around the EP resort area, checking out the hotels, Boardwalk, etc. for a couple of hours until our room is ready then checking in before heading to the MK around 3-4pm and staying until as close to close as possible. My main concern with plan one is the heat/crowds at MK on a Friday (8/29) late morning to early afternoon. Will it be bad? Any ideas/suggestions appreciated.

You could just stay in the Epcot area in case you are tired. Close to the Dolphin is Fantasia fairways mini-golf. Beaches'n'Cream is a nice cute and affordable restaurant. Then, you can get in your room when it 's ready. You'll be very close.

I would pack a day bag with swimsuits and hang out by the pool.

We (me DH, DS21, DS18 and girlfriend19)just got back from AOA cars suite. It was OK. the feedback I got was, they missed the outside door, and it didn't seem as "Disney" as the other value resorts. We really only swam in the quite pool, but in all we had a great time.

Who wouldn't, we were at Disney.

We are actually considering going back in Feb of 2015 for our 25th anniversary. I was looking for a board for couples in hopes for ideas on what to do. Darn that the Mod's said no. =(

Leaving in 3 days!

Our boys are almost 21, have finished 2 years of college, and are still at home. It is just so expensive these days. They go to school near by. They would love to move out but they can't afford it on part time jobs and we can't either since we pay for college. One good thing is they are watching the house and taking care of things while we are on our trip.

We planned at tour for one day and are doing the Wishes Dessert party on another. We also have two extra days built in to the trip to be off park days. So we can wander and rest and swim or resort hop or whatever we want.

Hi all,

LOVE this idea--wish the mods had made this its own category. The "wedding/honeymoon" board just isn't what I'm looking for.

so far, I've gotten a LOT of help from you on other boards with my basic questions.

Dates: 13-20 Dec.

Who: couple w/out kids mid-30s; not "crazy commando kids" -- more laid back and in for the "atmosphere and fun"; relaxed, easy going and hopefully fun to be around.

I am looking for ideas for the DDP. Ideally with great views of the fireworks. 1 x out of park for "holiday wishes".

Plus: pros out there--our monday is looking to be DHS with late hours and finding a "classic restaurant" is proving challenging (we get italian here a LOT). Anywhere close by out of the park to be recommended? (I have NOT clue about the distances, etc. from park to park and resorts to parks, etc.)
