WDW for Couples - Post your questions and suggestions here!!!

Congratulations on your wedding. October is great! Be sure to book some of the Food & Wine Fest special events. The wine and adult beverages tastings are fun and adult only! There are also special dinnets, seminars and demonstrations geared towards adults. Do not forget MNSSHP at the Magic Kingdom, what is more romantic than dressing up and trick-or-treating with your sweetie! Fireworks cruises, moonlight strolls, biking the boardwalk, watching water parades from the beach for us WDW is a very romantic place.

My DW and I celebrated an anniversary last fall and did both Food and Wine Festival, and MNSSHP, and had so so much fun!

Congrats on the wedding!!!

Hi all! I'm new to posting but thought this would be a great place to start. My husband and I are heading down in October for an anniversary trip staying at POR and are super excited. Looking forward to some food and wine action, carriage ride at POR and a nice anniversary dinner at Yachtsman!! Anyone have some more unique romantic ideas for 2?

We are doing our anniversary dinner (10 years!) at Yachtsman in August. I have never eaten there so am excited. We are staying at CBR but do love your idea is a carriage ride at POR and may have to look into that as well.

DH and I love Yachtsman! Happy Anniversary.

Hi all! I, too, am still making my way through the thread. As usual, I'm skipping to the end and thought I'd introduce myself. I love this thread! DH and I are childfree by choice and love doing Disney as a couple!

When are you going???? ..we will be there 8/21-8/29 at CSR!

We do character meet and greets all the time! Not awkward at all! Plan on taking some fun photos! We bring props and do all sorts of stuff. DH brushing Rapiunzel's hair, DH proposing to Daisy with me and Donald looking mad, DH putting my shoe on my foot with Cinderella, doing a conga line with Chip and Dale, Belle reading to us form our Hidden iambic key book; the characters and the photographers love it!!! We always get extra time and attention. I think it breaks up the monotony for them!
We have been trying to decide if the Memory Maker would be worth the price on our first kid free trip. I except the challenge to get our money's worth and make some special memories with just the two of us. :cool1: Still not telling the grandkids we're going with out them. Told the daughter. She's 30. She'll get over it.

I have been trying to figure out if Memory Maker is worth it.

My parents starting going to Florida and Disney every year after I started college. To make matters worse they took my younger siblings! In the end I got over it so I think they will be ok. Just bring back some good gifts!

DH and I got photopass for our longer trips (pre memory maker) and get tons of pictures. We joke that when we die all of the pictures at our memorial service will be at Disney!

Hellooo!
So I'm in awe of the amount of times some of you have been to Disney. :o
We are in Scotland so we have only been to WDW once but have been to DL Paris 4/5times. (Love it!)

We are coming to WDW (as adults for the first time 26 and 27yo) for our honeymoon in October. Eeeeek!!!

I also haven't found much info on the solo/adult feed so this has been an interesting read.

Any tips for our honeymoon is appreciated!

We spent our honeymoon in WDW in october (2011)... We've had an amazing time. Drinking champagne and eating tapas at night at the Food and Wine Festival.

Where are you staying? Wdw Resort?

Glad I found this thread. My DFi and I will be celebrating our honeymoon in late Nov/early
Dec so I'm getting lots of great ideas.

I love this thread! I'm still in a very young marriage and have only gone to Disney World with my husband. My question is: Would it be awkward for just me and my husband to meet characters? I could have met so many characters and I think it would be fun, but I would feel weird standing with a bunch of little kids! :rotfl:

We also went in 2012 and had some fun meeting the characters. The characters really like to have fun with you. When we met Donald in Mexico he kept pushing my DFi out of the picture and kissing my hand. Eeyore did the same thing. It was really funny and we got great pictures. My DFi was not really into meeting the princesses though, but he waited with me while I met them so it worked out well.

Hi everyone! My DH and have been to Disney twice together. Once with my family but we are all adults so it's fun just doing what you want. Then second time was for our HM. It was great just to be us two. We do not have kids yet (maybe in the future). We are DVC members (joined on HM). We also took a cruise (4 day Dream) after 6 days in WDW. It was great. As long as you avoid the family pool area you don't really see any kids. Oh and we already have our one year anniversary trip booked! Staying at GF villas. We hope to get the chef'a table at V&A for our one year dinner.

My husband and I are heading to WDW in July to celebrate our 17th anniversary and we are leaving our 11 and 13 year old with grandparents. We are so excited ! I know we will miss having them with us but we will get over it! :rotfl2:Don't feel too bad for them because we are taking them on a cruise in June. pirate:

Our friends just don't get why we would want to go there without kids. Umm...I can think of a lot of reasons...

Welcome. Sounds like a great trip. We did the parks followed by a cruise and loved it. Have a great anniversary trip.

Welcome and glad to meet other kindred souls. Hope you have a blast, be sure to let us know how much fun you had.

DH and I are early 40s and will be married 19 years in Sept. We honeymooned at WDW and renewed our vows there for our 10th anniversary. We haven't been able to get down since 2008 (we used to go every 2-3 years) but will be going next fall for our 20th anniversary. We don't have any children but we have 4 cats. I always thought that Disney World offered something for every kind of traveler. There's lots that appeals to adults and really don't most of us have a bit of kid in us? At MK I can get away with being a Disney Princess for a day! :lovestruc
.

Vow renewal - how? Where?

DH & I are going for our 10th anniversary this fall. Currently excited but also feeling terribly guilty leaving DS3 & DS7 at home... Would love to know more about vow renewals!

DF and I will be going in june for DFTW! so of course I decided to get the memory maker

I believe to purchase individual photos is about $13?? i can be wrong on that. And with the rides, character dining and the photo pass photographers.. I really think we'll get our money's worth. Since i purchased the memory maker early it was $149.. which makes breaking even easier.. my plan is to try and get 150 photos hahaha. Imagine that $1/photo, my future DH might kill me lol

I think you can easily make 150 photos. And if it works the same as the last system you can always add borders and designs to your photos after your trip to increase the number of photos you get even more. I definitely added memory maker to our 11/27-12/7 trip since it's our honeymoon. I think it will be worth it!

Hello all! DH and I will going back for our 2nd (hopefully Annual) kid-free trip this August. We did it last August because #1) my birthday is in August and where better to celebrate than WDW; and #2) DH is a teacher so we're limited to school vacation time and we usually go with the kids during Feb. or April vacation; and #3) i had recently become a Disney TA and so wanted to go without the kids so I can have a trip that's not focused soley on character hunting and commando park touring, and more focused on stopping and smelling the flowers as well as trying new resorts and restaurants that might not appeal to the kids as much (or resorts that we couldn't afford to do a longer stay with 2 additional people along, lol). And so, hopefully, an annual tradition has been born. :thumbsup2

Last August we did YC, this August we'll be doing WL. My goals for our kid-free trips are to: relax, smell the roses, try new restaurants, stay at a new resort, go on a new attraction, visit another resort, and see as much as possible that I've never seen before, in 4 days, lol. I just finalized my plans and this is what I came up with. Any comments/suggestions are welcome as I have had a heck of a time with this plan, trying to balance "relaxation" with "seeing as much as possible", lol.

8/28 - arrive MCO @ 2:30, check in at WL, head to MK probably around 5:00, dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern and MK for the evening

8/29 - arrive EPCOT late morning, wander the WS a bit, do a QS lunch there, back to resort for couple hours at the pool. Head to HS around 5:00ish, dinner at 50s Prime Time, HS for the evening.

8/30 - MK for rope drop. Hopefully, FP for BoG for lunch. Stay 'til mid-afternoon, then head back to WL for the evening. Dinner at Whispering Canyon and just hang at the bar or go to bed early or whatever.

8/31 - Breakfast at Kona Café, check out the Poly. Back to WL for a few hours, then head to EP for the evening. Dinner @ Teppan Edo

9/1 - home!

How does it sound??

Add another couple to the list. BF and I going in November for 8 nights and can't wait. I own at BLT and last year was the first time he went to Disney. It's a good thing he liked it b/c I am going to have the lease till I am 94 and I would feel bad leaving him at home every year :)

No children and no plans as of yet for them - we are good with the 4 cats for the time being.

We had a blast last October just the 2 of us. It was a lot of fun seeing the shock in his eyes at how expensive DW is (he had been to DL as a teen). We are going to try the dining plan this year more of a budgeting tool then anything...there is a separate line item in the budget for booze ;).

Kate

So far ours photo's are 95% Disney, but most have our DGD in them, too! They are some of my most treasured items. This November we will do our best to hunt out every photographer at WDW. Then we will hide them from the grandkids until they are 30.
