WDW fashion patrol

On our last visit I had a hysterical talk with one of the CM's. A lady with heels that were for the "bedroom only" walked by and I mentioned how she was a "VOF". (victim of fasion) The CM says all the castmembers get a kick out of all the uncomforatble shoes people decide to walk around the parks in. If you're a podiatrist you should set up shop right outside the WDW gate. You'd make a fortune.

Did you know that there can be cultural differences in what people wear? In Japan, guest to the disney parks wear their very best outfits. Heels, full make up, skirts, button down shirts. Did you know that even though several people have said this thread is to have fun, its mean spirited and judgemental. Laughing at someone else is rather appalling. Figuratively laughing at someone else, and then pointing a finger at them and yelling to your friend. Hey doesn't she look so ugly you could vomit, is even worse than appalling. Taking a picture of a stranger so that when you get home you can post it on the internet and show your family how badly they dress. Well maybe you need to find a new hobby.

If you don't like it, don't read it. Feel free to start another thread griping about the meanness - I'll just ignore it and keep happily posting away in this one. :earsgirl:

GA - Miss Angelina can wander the parks in any darn thing she wants!! ;)

ITA - ugh!! Especially since it's not difficult to find low rise undies any more; you can get them at WalMart for crying out loud. (Commando always a no-VPL option as well. ;) )

I agree with you Kidzmom. It's amazing how many people out there think they are perfect.:)

I swear, I'd go commando before wearing a low rise/undies combo that showed off the undies and the pants looked like they beloned to my little (much thinner) sister...

Ok, I understand what the term "commando" means, but where did it originate? Do the Commandos run around in their camoflage gear without underwear?

Do I people watch yes, do I keep my comments about them to myself yes. I don't believe in making fun of people, since I'm not perfect. Do I think it's right for a woman to walk around in a bikini top in the parks, nope, but it's not for me to judge. I believe in live and let live or to each his own.

I LOVE to people watch...it's just amazing to see how some people put themselves together each day.

What REALLY shocked me was the woman I saw at AK wearing short shorts, a mesh top w/ bikini top under it (so not THAT revealing) and pumps.

yes - high heeled PUMPS from the 80's.

I am so used to all the "fashion" that the parks bring nothing much surprises me anymore HOWEVER, HEELS on the GREAT WALL OF CHINA took the award.

I've noticed a strange kind of double standard in some of the foreign countries that I've visited. Some places have nude and topless beaches, where ya know no one cares if you are clothed. If you go into the cities, or ride the public buses women need to be dressed appropriatley, or you get too much unwanted attention. No standard exists for men, though.

any chance the women in the tight white shirts can be in line behind me on splash mountain?

:boat: :boat:

Some theme parks do have decency rules. Hershey Park posts that noone can wear their bathing suit in the park- it must be covered up and any other outfits that cause undue "unrest" like a dirty t-shirt (sayings not grass stains) are not allowed.

I wish Disney would do something like that. I almost knocked out a guy who had the nastiest t-shirt on waiting for the Philharmagic. I won't go into details but it was about a girl scout and her cookies.

I am of the belief that the majority of the people wearing ridiculous outfits have a funhouse mirror in their homes. I have old pictures of mine proving that at one time I also had a funhouse mirror in my house.

It's so they can identify members of their group a bit easier. . .not a bad idea, IMO. Especially if you have kids.

:wave2:

I though they were doing the GrrAnimals thing.

LOL! I think a shopping trip is in order! :)

For the record I have to agree that this dreadful problem of the "Creeping shorts" is not caused by being fat necessarily. It depends on how your legs are attached to your body.
I have what my husband jokingly refers to as "close thighs". I am not fat. Just average size for a gal my age, about a size 10. I can already see that my one daughter is going to be cursed with it as well.

I have to be very careful to buy just the right kind of shorts to avoid this problem. Three or four steps around in a circle of a ladies dressing room will tell me whether those dang shorts are gonna ride up or not. If you are ever in a dressing room and the lady in the next room is muttering and complaining, sounds like she is walking around in circles and saying out loud "Nope, crotch hickers" it is just me trying on shorts. Actually the shorts that fit me best are my 13 year old sons' cargo shorts from Sam's club. Sure not very girly but at least they stayed put for a week at the parks.

We just got back last night from a week at WDW and we saw plenty of flesh that we didn't necessarily need or want to see.

I try to keep a straight face and have told my kids to NEVER point but OMG, some of it was just downright unbeliveable. I KNOW that my jaw did in fact drop to the floor more than a few times on this trip.

My DH asked me if he had missed something important in the fashion world over the past few years? When we were young girls NEVER let there gut hang out. They also didn't go out in public looking dirty. UNBATHED dirty. With greasy, unbrushed hair, dirty faces & hands and as another poster on here mentioned, just disgusting feet. It's a shame. I know that not everyone is made to be size small and that in the real world there is no such thing as one size fits all. It would be boring if we were all cookie cutter people but hey, It wouldn't hurt to scrub up once in a while, especially if you are going to be standing in close proximity to strangers for any length of time or heaven forbid riding a bus as a standing passenger and it has been a hot day! Wear some "oderant" people for the love of your fellow Disney fan!

Zurg's site is a knock out and in honor of his website we took many pictures that we are going to pass his way. The kids had fun spotting them for me and whispering " Badshoe.com 4o'clock mom, get the camera!"

glad to see the previous poster has her children join in for the ridicule of strangers. I am sure that is a valuable life lesson for them

Yeah like they say..."the Apple doesn't fall far from the tree" in most cases.

I like to know if there is a person today who has not said some snarky comment about someone else EVER in their life.

:scratchin

Back to the original topic - if you don't have something nice to say...come sit by me, I wanna hear it! heheheheh

I gotta go check out zurg's site...see if my lovely array of flip flops I wear to WDW made it up there
