WDW fashion patrol

Good grief. There is nothing "unsanitary" about wearing a bikini top in public. You can debate the social appropriateness or lack thereof, but saying it's a sanitary issue is just ridiculous.

Maybe you are mistaking sports bras for bikini tops?

You need to ask the clothes police? Do they actually have security guys following people around to see if anything falls out?:earseek:

I know the difference between sports bras and bikini tops. To what I am refering is definately bikini tops.

Techically, according to a CM, there are rules about it, but they don't do anything unless someone complains. And, of course, what guy is going to complain? (Provide the woman has the body to wear one).

But, like someone else said, why are women the only ones allowed to dress that way?

Would anyone complain if, say, Brad Pitt or Johnny Depp were walking around the park shirtless and in a speedo? :smooth:

No, I wouldn't complain :teeth:
Ditto! But then, you won't see me griping about attractive women in bikini tops either. ;)

Me, either, but who determines who can wear a bikini top or not? I mean, I wouldn't want to see Mimi from Drew Carey, or say, Whoopi Goldberg in a bikini top, but apparently nothing is stopping them

 Wow, Madman! ;) Don't get me wrong, Whoopi isn't on my top ten list, but I'd rather see her in a bikini every day for a month than Mimi for five minutes. Ew!

I actually look at the girls wearing the midriff tanks and low-rise pants/ shorts and feel sad... b/c I never felt that confident about my body when I was that age -- meaning 20's -- I'm not talking about the really skimpy/trashy stuff that makes you feel embarrassed to even happen to see that person.... but you know, I think, good for them that they feel confident to wear that kind of stuff despite what the fashion patrol may think. I look back at pics of myself when I was in my 20's and think I was so blind. I was totally fine and could have carried off alot of these looks (with some modesty) with no problem and no need for others to feel the need to vomit... but I didn't know that.

Actually, I have had my ups and downs with battling weight... I've struggled with body self-confidence. I do look in the full-length mirror and actually have a subconscious voice regulating whether or not I should feel guilty for others having to see me wearing whatever outfit I have on that day -- and I'm NOT talking about bikini tops and short shorts (I don't own any of these) -- when I go on vacation, I give myself a break from that and pull out my (more modest) tank tops and comfortable shorts. You won't see me in a bikini (probably ever again) or showing off my midriff -- I'm not comfortable in those anyway... but when I'm on vacation, that's a chance for me to relax from everything... even my everday inner struggles including the self-conscious ones... oh, and I like new sneaks... I'm possessive about my sneaks b/c I wear them everyday to work out... I like to have ones that are in good shape and support so I don't get bad knees or a bad back -- so if you see me in my new sneaks , with butt eating shorts and an unusual colored tank top on, and my hair in pigtail braids... just keep on walking folks, your comments will be falling on deaf ears here... I'm on vacation from people who make judgments about that kind of thing. Thanks very much.

Cool! Then you shouldn't mind us having a bit of fun in this thread, since you don't care what anyone thinks anyway. :sunny:

She's on my lust - uh, list - too.

Do you know that was NOT an intended slip...it was seriously a typo...but it was so funny I left it!

(PS--I'm overweight, too, but REALIZE it, and would never be caught dead in some of the outfits I see walking around Disney or even the mall back home! I don't encourage skinny people to dress like that, but if you're body is ok, I'm not gonna be offended. However, if I need to go vomit after you cross my field of vision, please rethink your clothing choices!!)

Kadaten - I weigh about 115 lbs (okay 115-125 depending on when we're talking about; my weight fluctuates) and I would not be caught dead in some of these outfits. They just look so trashy! I don't even think it's about weight issues...it's about looking classy vs. looking trashy.

I'm sorry but having your underwear show in any way is just not classy! If you want to wear low rise jeans, for pete's sake, find underwear that work with them!

I've always sworn I would write a book called " A Fat Girls Guide to Life"

Ch.1 "Spandex...No Honey"
Ch.2 "Just Because it comes in your size doesn't mean you look good in it."

*still thinking of more chapters*

Chapter three: Grey sweatpants are not your friend.

What I don't get are the matching outfits. You know where every family member's outfit is made from the same material. And for some reason the material is usually some loud pattern! I don't recall ever seeing this anywhere else except for WDW. Our family always gets a laugh at this.

Next, a developed teen girl stripped and took her time drying off and dressing. Obviously, they weren't from the US. Since I have daughters, I was counting my blessings that the sons didn't follow suit!!!!!!! Obviously, we're a pretty conservative family!

I think we all must be conservative families, even the really liberal families here must be! If I had done that at age 12, my parents would have dragged me back to the hotel and that would have been the end of my trip!

Doesn't Disney have CM's to come around and contain the nude people and tell them to get dressed???

It's so they can identify members of their group a bit easier. . .not a bad idea, IMO. Especially if you have kids.
