Did you know that all or almost all Disney "mountains" or landmarks are below 200 ft because of that airline skylight law. BTMRR is 197 ft, and Splash Mountain is 180 ft.

Splash Mountain is actually only 87 feet high. YOu are thinking of Space Mountain at 180. However your point is correct. That is also why ToT is 199 feet tall.

I can't find it now, but someone said that the day MK opened they expected 100,00 people to show up but only 10,000 did....

That is actually backwards. The opening day was an invitation only event. Someone took an invitation and made about 90,000 copies and handed them out. So instead of 10,000 guests for opening day there were 100,000.

Also the plumbers could only get the water-fountins or the toilets working by opening day and made Roy choose which one he wanted...he of coarse had to choose toilets. So on opening day there were operating water fountins, which caused many to belive that it was a ploy to sell more soda.

The night before opening day for MGM, the grass, flowers, and trees had yet to be laid down. With opening day just hours away Disney called an emergency meeting of as many CMs as they could locate to chip in and help get MGM ready for the next morning. Several hundred CMs showed up including many managers, and executives.

Ronald Regan was the Master of Ceremonies at Disneylands opening day.

Walt had originally wanted live animals in the Jungle Cruise but it would have been impossible. This idea of real animals in their habitat roaming freely did come in handy later for the design of Animal Kingdom.

After the National debacle with France, Disney decided to replace many of its French students in the France Pavillion with French Canadians, b/c many American tourists badgered them.

After many reworkings of Alien Incounter, Eisner still thought it wasn't scary enough.

Did you know that all CMs are on a first name basis, even with upper-level management.

Cms wear their name badges on the right side of their costumes because it is easier to notice. If you shake someone's hand, it is usually done with right hands, leading your eyes to the name badge.

The entrance into the Castle and into Fantacyland are paved red cement, as if a red carpet were rolled out just for you.

Mainstreet has smells piped in. Usually baking cookies by the bakery, and popcorn in other locations. This is done to make people think that they are hungry.

The Christmas Shoppe also has a "christmas smell" piped in. Pine tree and cinnimon.

There are no straws or lids served in the Animal Kingdom. This is to protect the many animals who walk/fly freely, from sufficating on the plastic.

All paper is recycled at the resorts. We had a bin at the front desk, whenever we had to throw paper away it went into the blue bin.

Eisner wanted to get rid of the monrail system. It costs too much to operate, because it is one of the only completely free things in WDW. You could ride it all day without entering the parks, and you don't have to be a resort guest to use either. Parking cost wouldn't even come close to paying for its day-to-day operating costs. It would have been a really unpopular move for him because everyone knows that the monorail system was one of Walt's "babies"

Why, you may ask...it has to do with physics, any heavier and "Tinkerbell" would be going too fast, any lighter and she would be going too slow or not at all.
Oh and "Tink" has to be male, because the female's curvier figure gets in the way of said physics.

Cms check the wind speed right before her flight to make sure it is safe.

The crests inside of CRT are family crests of Disney Execs....be sure and look for the Disney family crest!

Also, the mice from Cinderella can be found in the lobby of CRT (look up!)

When you enter the dark tunnel that contains the City Scape on the TTA, look behind you when you are approx. 20 feet in the tunnel. You will see a camera with a faint red spotlight on it. This is an infrared security camera.

In the World of Disney there are several murals around the top of the Grand Hall and the accessories Dept. They begin with the characters in a car and end with them waving Good-Bye! This is the first time that the Disney characters have been used out of context to tell a story. The murals have the characters visiting different countries and places in the world, hence the name of the store "World of Disney."

Although many people know that the Cheshire Cat appears in the mirror in Disneyland's Mad Hatter shop every few seconds, few know how he's done. This is the setup: first, there is the mirror. it is a type of one-way mirror, also known as a 50% mirror. This type of mirror allows you to see only your reflection as long as anything in back of the mirror is not lit. To make him "appear" they bring up the lights in a room behind the mirror. Now he is semi-visible. To make him dissapear, they dim the lights. The Cheshire Cat is relly a solid animatronic. This effect is used extensivley at Disney parks. It's how they do the Hitch-hiking ghosts in the Haunted Mansion. Also, it is used in the "World of Disney" shop at Walt Disney World in the jewelry room. Watch the mirror in back of the cash register. Every few seconds, a reflection of the Evil Queen from Snow White will appear in the mirror, and turn into that of the witch. Same effect, just with a rotating table.

In the summer, and possibly for the rest of the year, every Thurday night is Cast Member Night at Pleasure Island. Cast Members are allowed free admission into Pleasure Island and it's a good way to ask and find out who's wearing your favorite character's costume.

Did you know that the connecting water way between the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake (at the Contemporary Hotel -- the road goes under the waterway) is one of the few aqueducts left in this country.

For those of you who have ever taken Disney Transportation to the Magic Kingdom or stayed at the Contemporary Resort, you may have wondered where the rest of that road leads...well, here it is!! If the Disney Transport Buses were to continue going straight, they would come across the MONORAIL SERVICE STATION!! All the way back and to the right, is the location where the train, Busses, and all the monorail trains are stored. Also, if you were to continue and take a left at the station, you would pass by the entrance to the utilidors and discover a parking lot in the back behind Splash Mountain. This is where electric water pagent boats, garbage collection, float storage, and rehearsal areas are located. However, only performers in the Magic Music Days and Disney Employees are allowed back here.

Disney's Boardwalk Resort is very similar to the Magic Kingdom park. Both have a system of undergroung tunnels. If you notice you will enter the main lobby on the first floor but walk throught to the lake side and you are on the second. This system is, however, easier to access than the one at the Magic Kingdom and smaller in size. The Boardwalk tunnels are in the shape of a crooked "y.&Quot; one leads from the convention center (main entrance) to the Boardwalk Villas, the other spur behind Spoodles, Flying Fish, Bakery and ESPN Club.

Thats actually not true. In many interviews people such as Marty Sklar have explained how they expected a huge opening day, but only around 10,000 showed up. They go on to say how things quickly improved.

Ronald Regan was the Master of Ceremonies at Disneylands opening day.

Boardwalk Villas

On the roof of the Boardwalk there is a very large sign 10 to 20 feet high that says "THE BOARDWALK" which is lit up after dark. We noticed that in the evening 2 letters were not lit in the sign. We thought this was very "un-Disney" to have 2 letters burned out in a sign. The next day we noticed that the same two letters that had been "burned out" were now lit and all the other letters were now turned off. Then we realized the two letters were the D in Board and the W in walk. DW (as in Disney World).

The Universe of Energy has more "Please remain seated" placards in their ride vehicles than any other ride in Disney World.

There is a VIP Lounge in this attraction.

Two bloopers in Ellen's Energy Adventure


Preshow - After the first round is over and she says "FREEZE!," a camera change occures and you can notice that in neither camera angle that her lips are actually moving to say Freeze.
The Make-up lady shoes change from the Pre-Show video to the Start of Double Jeopardy in Theater II. In the Pre-Show she wears black pumps, and in the Theater II video she has on White Shoes.
The make-up lady in the Jeopardy! sequence is in fact wearing white shoes in the second film. If looked at closely, they are actually Minnie Mouse's shoes!
