Day 4 - Saturday 10/16/04

Who: Mark (me-26)
Molly (DW, 28)
Eric (DS, 2 1/2, first trip since he was 8 months old)
Haley (DD, 4.5 months)

Staying: Old Key West, first stay with our DVC points!!

Plan: Magic Kingdom, take 2

Actual:
As usual we were up and out on a bus by 10ish. Eric always had to treat the ducks outside our porch to some cheerios in the morning before leaving. When we got there we went right to Pooh. In anticipation that Eric would like it we also picked up a fast pass for a second ride. As expected Eric loved Pooh, Tigger, Roo, and the whole gang. Right now we are obsessively watching Springtime with Roo, or what ever the exact title for the Pooh movie is... :) After we got off we headed to Mickey's Philharmagic where we got all the way into the pre-staging area and we had to head out because Eric needed to potty. Well we talked to the internal cast member about coming back, and she told us she didn't have a problem with it just talk to the cast member outside. So on our way out I stopped and spoke with Erin, she was from Columbus a town just east of Dayton... Two "locals" in two days... We had a nice chat while Molly ran Eric to the bathroom and she filled me in on some cool Disney tidbits while I waited... One cool thing I didn't know was that the Bell at Pinocchio's doesn't ring on the hours because Pinocchio was a liar? I didn't know that!! Anyway, Molly and Eric returned and Erin was kind enough to give us a pass to walk on any Fantasy Land attraction, just like a fast pass, but for any ride. Very cool, she didn't have to do this, but it was greatly appreciated. So we went in to watch the show, we all loved, including Haley who was in aw by the size of the movie I think... :) Once we were done there I walked back just to thank Erin again for letting us go through the fast pass line and for the pass. So we went right to Peter Pan's to use our little fast pass. The wait wasn't bad at all!! :) After Peter Pan we rode Snow White, and then Eric and I used our Pooh Fastpass. Then on our way back across Fantasy Land we all rode Dumbo. After Dumbo we headed into Adventure Land to get fast passes for Splash and Thunder Mountain. Taking advantage of the child swap we were able to get one fast pass for each mountain for us to both ride. After getting our fast passes we headed back to catch the Country Bear show, oldie but goodie in my opinion. Eric loved all the bears in the show, but some of those lyrics it's better not to pickup on... :) So after the show it was time for our fast pass on Splash Mountain so we headed back. I took round one, got my child swap pass, and then I was off... The line was actually pretty backed up. When I got to finally pass through the point where the two lines merge I heard the cast member telling the guests that were just stopped she was letting so many fast passers go because she had received a call saying the line was too long. Got my boat, I was in the back row all by myself, but I was on for the experience so I didn't care where I sat. When I finished up I headed out to the Splash Mountain play area to let Molly get her turn. When she finished up it was almost 3 o'clock and we wanted to see the parade. However, our Thunder Mountain fast pass had to be used by 3:20 so Molly went and rode, got our child swap ticket, and I took Eric and the baby to find a spot for the parade across from the Liberty Bell. Molly found us just before the parade started which worked out perfectly!! Once the parade was complete we did the mad dash to the Haunted Mansion, like we always do after the parade, and got on in a reasonable amount of time. Once we were off of that, everyone was feeling a little hungry... So, I figured we could try the Liberty Tree Tavern, I had been reading about it on the Resort TV since we had checked in that they had a Character dinner with Pluto and Friends. So we walked up it was about 3:45, and the lady asked if I didn't mind waiting 10-15 minutes after they opened, I asked when that was and she replied 4:00. I had no problems with that at all. I headed back out to wait with Molly and the kids and I over heard the lady greeting at the door tell a few people coming up they were completely booked?? Molly and I were baffled as to wheather or not we would actually get a seat? Molly kept asking are you sure you told them you don't have a reservation!! :) Once the characters made their appearance at the balcony we headed in to wait in the lobby. We only waited about 5 minutes after they started rattling through the names! We got a nice quite Bench/Chair spot in a corner on the second floor which was perfect becasue Haley could stretch out on the bench while we ate. This was our first time dinning at the Liberty Tree and I don't think it will be our last! Molly loved it because it was all home cooked foods. For those that haven't been there we had a salad to start with strawberry vinegarette, turkey, ham, beef, stuffing, potatos, dressing, carrots, and to finish it all off a huge Apple Cobbler covered in ice cream!! It truly was a great meal, and this was Eric's first time to get 1-on-1 with some of the characters. He had a blast and managed to eat a bit in between visits!! :) One bummer was my camera batteries died during dinner, but I was able to get all the shots we wanted, just the last 2 didn't have a flash because I didn't want to strain the batteries anymore... After dinner we headed back across the park to Toon Town. What a hecktic time that was!! First we went back to see Mickey, but Haley was asleep so we just got Eric's picture taken. From there it was off to the Circus tent to have them developed. While we waited Haley woke up so it was back to the play area in front of Mickey's house to play there a bit, and I took Eric over to Donald's ship for a little dousing in the water and then back to the play area... In the meantime Haley had awaken and Molly was feeding her. Once she was done, it was back to Mickey's for some more pictures!! :) And then from there we went back to the circus tent because we didn't realize Minnie was there with no wait!!! So we headed down the queue and waited our turn to enter the room. Eric and Haley got their pictures with Minnie, and then were able to visit with Chip, Dale, and Donald... I couldn't get their pictures because my batteries were dead from lunch... Then while we waited in line to get all these pictures developed Wishes started for the night... Molly and the kids went out front to watch them as I wrapped up our purchase then I rushed outside to watch the 2nd half of the show. I just think the music is the best! Once that was done it was off to the front. We stopped in to get Haley her first set of Minnie ears. While Molly waited in line to get them personalized Haley and I caught the last bit of the SpectroMagic Parade. Once everyone was done we headed into get our pictures from Main Street the day before. Then we were finally headed home for the evening... :)

Thanks for reading,
Mark
