WDW Deaths? Looking for accurate information.

I had an 'opportunity' to spend some time with the paramedics at WDW a few years ago. They were telling me that they had just come back from one of the hotels where a guest had a heart attack and died. They said that it common, as are traffic deaths, particularly when people are leaving at night.
As far as the Snopes article, I read through it once and may have missed it, but there was a gang murder at DL sometime maybe 30 or more years ago during a brawl. They used to have a very bad gang problem but I believe that was resolved some time ago.
You have to figure, with the huge amount of visitors every day there are bound to be incidents of some nature or another.

In October 1999, Mrs. Pat Shenck and her 8 year old boy had taken the water sprite jet skis on one of the park lagoons. Unfortunately, Mrs. Shenck’s ski got stuck during the water shift. Meanwhile the 23-year old inexperienced ferryboat captain of the Kingdom Queen was unaware of the case. Going against the safety rules of the ride, he reversed the route of the ferry consequently sucking Mrs. Shenck towards the ship’s blades. Eventually, death was resulted by the blades that shredded her body to pieces. By the time the police came in, Disneyland’s paid divers had already collected the body leaving no evidence of the scene. Unfortunately, Mrs. Shenck’s son was there the whole time around.

There's one, and we say Pat haunts the (now) General Joe Potter. however, the article is inaccurate as the accident was A) and Disneyworld and B) reversing the engine, specifically the bow, PUSHES water away, it doesn't suck you in. This is also why pilots have VERY little patience for people on those stupid water sprites cutting the channel when we're coming full speed.

That article reads like it was written by a 5 year old...a google search shows that the accident was covered in the media, and apparently their sprite was not stuck but crossed in front of the ferry. It also occurred in 1989.

yeah the date seemed off to me, along with different reports I have heard from CMs in the dept, some of which who were in the dept when it happened.

Nonetheless, it's a death by ferry.
edit: I will find out if the pilot did anything to actively reverse. I don't think the pilot saw the mom at all, mom pushed daughter out of the way of the ferryboat, sacrificing herself in the process.

One of the OC reports I found on google last night seemed to indicate that the ferry pilot put the engines in to reverse when realizing they'd collide, and the resulting wake capsized the sprite (others say it broadsided it). Someone jumped in and saved the son, but it took several hours for divers to locate the mother's body. There was some speculation that the mother's life vest might have been torn from her, but not how.

There was no mention that she was hit by propellers or anything like that.

It's only when you start hitting on articles about a lawsuit filed later that they started getting sensationalistic in nature...like claiming that Disney/RC divers left the body tied to a buoy for hours, etc.

1. Most recent was a nosy reporter who went into Haunted Mansion never to be seen again.
2. I nteresting the # of Disney haters that roam these sites. Whatever for, telling me that I'm blind to Disney and that I've been over Pixie dusted is a waste of your time. I go to WDW cause I want, not because I'm blind to reality. Where should I go? Gator Bobs Authentic Wrasslin Show or Seminole Sam Indian Village and Petting Zoo.
Go back to watching Fox news.:rolleyes1
