WDW Commando Club

Once I'm in my "happy place" again, I will definitely feel way better! even if I can't ride RnR:(

So far I have the hotel booked from Friday Mar 21- Mar 31. (off site $41 p/n Avanti Resort) But haven't got a flight from Buffalo booked yet. I'll try again tomorrow. I have a AP that I bought back on Dec. trip (thus the main reason for going now, ticket are basically free)

So tell me Commandos: what would you do on a 10day solo trip?

I've had solo days but never a SOLO WDW trip. :thumbsup2

What would I do on a 10 day solo trip during F&G? See how many spiced rum dole whips I can eat in a day.

Booked it!!!! flying out on Friday night arriving at MCO 12:30am, here's hoping there's no "snow" issues.

I think I will book some tours, I've done Keys to the Kingdom (at both WDW & DL) and I'll be in a group so that'll get rid of the "alone" feeling.

I've been over to the Solo board, to see if there's anyone else going then, but it's kind of weird: all the ones looking for meets are new Dis members (less then 10 posted)- no info in profile,I can't even tell if they're male or female...could be a troll:confused::confused3, I'll keep checking to find a group, safety in numbers and all. :dance3:

This could turn into a really good article/story about travelling solo to such a famous family place, from flights, to hotels, to tours, transportation, dining etc. I use to travel for business a lot before I had a kid, and I have even gone on vacation alone before. I think what really feels so different about this is that I'm stay off site without a car so I don't feel that Disney safety bubble around me.

But as Peter Pan told me in a book once "Wendy, forget them all, let's go where you'll never have think about grown-up things again"
And "To live! now that would be an awfully big adventure!"

Okay, guys for SURE this time. . . my official dates are Nov 7-16. The ONLY thing that may change this time, I may shift the dates (a day forward a day behind).

Commander, you guys take a trip around that time right?

We will be there Nov 6-9 so it looks like I'll see you then:thumbsup2

You bet your DB (Disney Butt) I am! :rotfl: My first for BOTH! I've scheduled two days at Epcot. It's my favorite park anyhow, but I know F&W is going to make me want to spend even more time there. :woohoo:

:thumbsup2 Your going to love it:yay:

Wow a double post :scared1:, haven't done that in awhile:lmao:

IT'S OFFICIAL!!! Booked it (half of it atleast). Commander, see you sometime Friday or Saturday ; MaMudduck, get ready to put some miles on that AP!

So here is the story how this is meant to be. . . Blessings at every turn! So, I wanted my dates to overlap F&W and some Christmas decor. November 7-16 is perfect, I can take off Friday and have two long weekends. I wanted to stay at AKV 1 bedroom bc I wanted the tub plus the price is about the same for a primo view regular AKL room. Well, I had been searching since last year for a 1 bedroom- Value priced room to no avail. I finally settled on a split stay at POR to make things cheaper and when I went back to price check AKV. . . there it was, in all it's glory, a 1 bedroom- Value!!! Since I plan on getting APs I don't need a package, but it's only $200 deposit to book a package. So I booked a package a planned on changing when another discount came out. I was concerned bc the 1bdrm Value was only available for 5 nights (most bookings require 6 for larger savings) I might not save as much OR AKV would only be eligible for a smaller discount. Well the wonderful cast member, she proactively added a Resort Feature Discount of 35%!!! She saved me (including taxes) about $200 a night for the room!!! I know that was long but I feel so blessed right now! This is meant to be :)

So I'm booked Nov 11-16. I will book POR next month 7-11. I'm still keeping an eye out on getting my tickets from UT and upgrading them to APs. Disney was rumored to have changed something where that is no longer saving any money. We shall see.

So far: 4 nights at POR, 5 nights at AKV 1 bedroom, PAP, 2 days at Universal all for two people. . . Over $1200 savings so far. Not including the savings I have found on the excursions, food, and tours! This is wonderful!

:welcome: You are member #250 :cool1:, I have never been to WDW in May, but I would think it ia a great time to go since most kids are in school still:thumbsup2, will you be there for any of the Star Wars Weekends:confused3

I was hoping for 250! :) We'll be there for opening day! I'm terrified that the crowds at HS will be a complete mob... We've only done Aug/Sep trips before, much lower crowd-level times. And the lack of info on SWW evening events leaves me w/o a clear cut plan as to what I want to do w our evening there... Still looking forward to it, it's just the one gray area in my plan as I don't know what all is going on yet!

For the most part (Memorial weekend being the exception). May is lovely time to go, both crowds and weather are manageable and pleasant. SWW will be packed (not to scare you), however, it has a way of mostly affecting Star Wars activities more so than a full on takeover- for the most part. If you use RD, EMH, and FP+ effectively, you will be fine:thumbsup2 Also, look to eat outside of that park, and use that park to commando tour. Hope that helps, but all-in-all I believe you will have an amazing time:goodvibes

I'm sure we will... :) It's just such a different trip to set up, cuz on the HS day, we are doing Star Wars stuff all day long. Also on most trips we're able to sort of wind down and enjoy more lazy things toward the end... but we're ending with opening day to SWW (it just happened that way) so it's going out w the busiest, most intense day of our trip on the last day.

As the new inductee, I feel like I should share :) So here's what we have planned for our upcoming trip. Any improvements to recommend from other commandos?

We're a family of 6... 2 adults, 3 kids, 1 toddler... so Rider Switching where necessary and moving at kid-speed. Even tho it's planned out in rather fine detail, I enjoy doing that as it passes the time while we wait...

I've tweaked it easily 100 times thus far. Recently locked in some of the new Fast Passes to A&E and C&R that work w our schedules. Will definitely change some of the others to the SDMT whenever that opens up.

Where you see one column broken into two, that's cuz I'm planning for another family as well. Their stuff is broken out separately in some cases.

So far I love being able to pick the FPs from home, as I can arrange some very compact walks thru the parks, usually circling the park no more than once on any given trip. Anything you would change? Are there FPs that are better used on other rides?

Hey guys, am I just getting forgetful? How far in advance do calendars with EMH come out:confused3? I was looking and I can only ind through August. I thought I always knew before my 180 day came.

I will be listening to any tips you have for SWW I will be going on the closing weekend, so somewhere between what you plan out and what I plan out out the truth will probably lie:confused3:yoda:

Okay, I think I have worked out a really nice plan in which te new FP+ system will rally help a lot. I know I want to do the Wild Africa Trek, here's a good link to explain what it is: http://http://disneytourreviews.com/wdw-tours/ak/wild-africa-trek/

A pre-RD ADR at Tusker House, then high tail it to the KSafari. Walk the animal trails until 11, when I will schedule the Trek. The Trek lasts 3 hours and provides a light lunch. Schedule my FP+ for EE, Kali, and probably FOTLK. Then bus over to MK for dinner at BOG and the Wishes Dessert Party. Make sure that this is on a day where AK opens at the regular time and MK has PM EMH. Full day utilized, no rush, no over-stuffing food wise, and packed with fun!

Well next Friday is my ADR date excited but slightly nervious as this is my first time!! But I know exactly what I want and when and have a back up plan for hard to gets like BoG........so wish me fairy dust I may need it......

Oooohh, what an exciting time! I love making ADR's. The best plan is to already know what you want, and how much flexibility you have with that. Good luck to you:thumbsup2

I think I will be there for the closing weekend as well.

On our trip in late Dec/early Jan., I got some nice boat transportation cards.

Typing really fast- last time 2 days ago I typed a long update but got time out and it didn't type. Be here since Sat. Absolutely HATE fast pass+ from a commando point of view!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Park hopping cancels fp at other parks, still haven't tried old way with AP. But at AK tomorrow and will try. Crowds much higher than expected, F&G is good, tours was great.
