Typing really fast- last time 2 days ago I typed a long update but got time out and it didn't type. Be here since Sat. Absolutely HATE fast pass+ from a commando point of view!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Park hopping cancels fp at other parks, still haven't tried old way with AP. But at AK tomorrow and will try. Crowds much higher than expected, F&G is good, tours was great.

I know that my experience this coming June with FP+ will be different than the one we had in late Dec/early Jan., but I'll have two friends with me who haven't been since the late 80s and I'm afraid that the break neck speed that DH and I usually go at will scare them off. Really, I just wish that they would give you more FP+'s for MK. Three for such a ride intensive park is hard to work with. Also, I wish that you could pick a ride more than once at the other parks. We don't ride TT or RNRC at DHS, so I would rather just have all TSMM FP+'s.

My DH and I are both commando. Even though we bought in to DVC in 2008 - we still can't change. We are early risers and I like to plan. So, this seems like an appropriate place for me.

I think I will be there for the closing weekend as well.

On our trip in late Dec/early Jan., I got some nice boat transportation cards.

Still haven't booked anything for Star War weekends waiting on another family, we have 4 trips slated for this year, the one in June is our up in the air trip with Sept after MNSSHP starts as a alternate, but now that the are having Star War Character Dining I'm hoping for June

Since the FP+ started I've been suspect this would be the case This trip I decided we would not use the FP+ at all, this might seem unorthodox to many, but I hope that is the case, as a Commando I'm also a opportunist, my thoughts are Rope Drops & EMH's are the Commando way to go, got a feeling guests will get lazy and spend more time at the resorts since they already have FP's, afternoons will be a good time for DTD or shows

Count me in! I plan everything from exactly what foods we'll eat to the timing of each step in my plans. I even plan the exact outfits we will wear traveling and to the parks. My Disney Planning Binder might be enough justification to diagnose OCD.

You are member #251 It is good to see that some DVC members are still Commandos and want to make the most out of each day at WDW

EXACTLY! This was the first time ever for us going more than once in a year. We usually travel to WDW once a year and want to spend every minute of it having FUN! The only difference with us for DVC is that we have larger accommodations to relax in when we are not in the park (which isn't much of the time) On our trip last week we stayed at BWV for the first time and we did go back to our room a couple of the days for a short break but then went right back out to either EPCOT or DHS. It was so nice to be able to walk there from the resort. Can't wait for our next trip. I already started planing the day after I came home.

25 days till Disney and besides ADR's & EMH's, I really have no solid plan as of nowg, some of you may already know that I don't start planning what we are doing each day until the trip is almost in motion

There are a few reasons why I do this
- Get weather forecast
- up to date park hours (these change sometimes right up to trip date)
- added events (could be something like a holiday at the World showcase or a movie release with a character M&G)

Now don't think for a second I don't already have most of the days planned out in my mindg, but if I write the days out now and then change them I would be 2nd guessing myself instead of going with my gut feeling, I don't like to 2nd guess, although every part of our day plan has a backup plan & for some things a back up plan for the back up plan, this way if something does not work out there is no time wasted trying to figure out what to do next

Did I mention how much I HATE this new FP+ !!!!!!!!!!!!! Commander if you have your magicbands go ahead & book your FP+ now. You can book 30days in advance, for 7 consecutive day. It's better than no passes for the day but choose careful because you don't want to waste them on stuff that you know ( by way of commando instinct ) rides that are going to have short time on then anyways. There's been No technical issues at the park. The real issue that I hope they fix, is the " choose 1 preference" so the list at HS (Toy Story, Fanastmic, or RnR) so if I choose Toy story then I got to wait in the 80 minutes for RnR........arrrragh! They need the old 1hr/or use and then you get another FP in the park. And then there's the the whole park hopping issue.....they better fix this.

did our ADRs today got everything (even BoG) except the afternoon tea we were told it is under reno. They don't know yet when it will reopen so have to keep checking. So excited to have that done with..............lol I was stressed!!!!

We did not have to wait more than 15 minutes in a FP line. There were some long standby lines later, but we were fortunate with our RD time and getting on at least 4 or 5 rides with little wait. The rest of the time we either used our FP or did things without lines. For example, carousel of progress and country bear jamboree. Also, I think the week we went was not as busy as this past week. We were there 3/16-3/21

I was hoping if I scheduled things right, I could go to RnR irst thing at RD, an then schedule TT at night and par hop midday, or something like that. Is that plausible? No FP+ return times are pretty good, eg. Yesterday at HS my FP return was 10:15-11:15 and I was in fast pass line for 8 minutes (stand by was at 120min at that time)
fast pass for shows like the Indie show or Nemo was 1/2hr to 10 min before the show time but you are guaranteed to get in & get a good seat before standby enters the theatre.
So yes you can do rope drop run to ride, leave park & come back for FP's later, you just can't use or get FP's at the other park or it will cancel your evening ones at the other park.

It has also be insanely busy here...on Wednesday MK was closed, due to capacity, Nov. wont be as bad (I'm hoping)

Other than an AK Rainforest Cafe and Whispering Cafe lunch, nothing is set in stone. There is the back and forth 'chicken calling' between DH and DD over Summit Plummet!

We booked room only, so we did not get Magicbands, we are getting our AP's when we get there, so we really will not be using advance FP+, for me this is great because it gives me something to compare with those who used FP+, knowing both sides will give us the edge to beat it

So far Thursday the 24th is evolving as our our MOST commando day.
It's AK rope drop...Kilimanjaro x2, Everest x2 and Kali x6...then scoot off to Wilderness Lodge to really soak it in as we've been wanting to see it for a long time, get the pressed pennies, see Old Faithful and Lunch ressie at 1:20...boat to MK to use our FP+'s on Big Thunder Mt/Splash Mt/Haunted Mansion...give homage at the Seven Dwarves Mine Ride...get Roasted Pork Shank at Gastons...then back to hotel for a few hours and end at DS for Fantasmic!!!!

Breathe!

Once when the kids were 'tweens we did 4 parks a few times and had fun with the exhaustion...3 will do for now!
