Try PM'ing Zarr aka Joe, he leaves for it on Tuesday (I think).

I did the program twice. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. Good Luck!

Feel free to ask away...I am a WDWCP Alumni as well.

I'm also an alum as well as a campus rep for the program. I run a website about the WDWCP at disneycp.net .

Also, if you do a search on these boards for College Program or WDWCP, you'll come up with more threads than you could ever read.

Jet felt like posting late on this thread

but anyway.... If anyone on the boards has any questions about the College program, please feel free to message any of us who have replied and we will be more then happy to try to anwser (or try to find the anwser) for you!!! They College program has release their presentation schedule on their web site (but please note that there are still dates to be added!!!)

Also this year they are doing presentations over the internet for students who can not make it to their local presentation due to distance, class, or work conflicts!! The college program is now looking for students for the Spring (Jan-May) and Spring Advantage (Jan-Aug) for 2005. The CP is open too all Full-time and Part-time College students.

What are the requirements? My son is interested but is still a senior in high school. What is the earliest he could try to get in?

Thanks

Add my name to the list of people you can PM or ask questions of regarding the WDWCP. (I'm actually on the program right now)

I got accepted my freshman year and ended up turning it down... I have never regretted anything more!! :(

Except staying with an ex-boyfriend for 3.5 years:rolleyes:

Both DH and I are alumni (seperate programs) and we'll take questions too.

I think the earliest one can apply is after their first semester of college. So spring of the freshman year. There are also GPA requirements and the school has to sign a form authorizing the program.

There has been cases where students have went their first semester of college (they took summer classes before they "started" college). But that was a few years ago and from the web site it looks like the rules have changed a bit: (this is from the FAQ page of the wdw college program web site:
http://www.wdwcollegeprogram.com/sap/its/mimes/zh_wdwcp/students/frameset/frameset_faqs.html )

"To apply, students must be currently enrolled in a college/university and have completed at least one semester. Students must be in good academic standing (2.0 or higher).
Participation in this program requires unrestricted work authorization."

Academic standing may very based on each school though. When I did it (my freshmen year), they told me that I had to have atleast a 2.5 before they would let me go.

Do the students do the program for one semester?

My daughter is a high school senior, but she is also enrolled at a local community college that runs a program through the high school. After this senior year she will have one college semester of college under her belt. Does she need to be a full-time college student to apply? I'm assuming that if she applied it would be after her first semester going full-time.

Did anyof this make any sense? :teeth:

One thing i was wondering about, when you're working down there, are you putting off your semester of college so that you'll have to take a little extra time to finish school? I know some schools give credit for the college program but I was wondering how that works when you're working at WDW on the CP, when you would normally be at school. Wouldn't you get behind?

From the FAQ section of the College program website:
"Will students earn college credit for participating in the program?:
It is up to each student's school to determine if credit will be awarded. Each school also determines the number of credit hours. Students should see their faculty advisor and/or career services department regarding credit opportunities for participating on the College Program. "

For me, I did not receive any credit for doing the program. Others I know got a full 15 credit hours for just doing the program. Other have got credit based on their grades from the classes the college program offers (Course listing can be found here : http://www.wdwcollegeprogram.com/sap/its/mimes/zh_wdwcp/students/frameset/content/get/get_courses.html )

So right now I am 1 semester behind where I would have been if I did not go, but over all the experence is something I could not of gotten anywheres else.

Thanks Jimmybop,

My DD is still 16yo now, will be 17 when she starts college and will be turning 18 just before the end of the first semester. Even if she couldn't get credit for the time doing the program she will be a semester ahead when she starts college so it would put her where she's supposed to be.

I think that it would be a neat experience!
