Has anyone been to the world during Christmas? DH has always talked about going over Christmas since we have no family down here, but I'm not sure. What's it like? What about presents or a tree? How did your Christmas trip work out for you? We love WDW and Christmas, I'm just having trouble imagining being on vacation at that time.

Well we are not going exactly during Christmas as I don't think I would want to. That is the BUSIEST time of the year. It's not peak or value season, but holliday season. Very crowded. This is what I have found out. That is why we are going the 4-10. We can't wait. But from Thanksgiving is when the decorations are up and the lights. That is what we cannot wait for.

We went the day after Christmas to New Year's Eve day two years ago and LOVED it. It was a little crowded by we used EE, PMs, and FP to help with the crowds. It was very magical. I sent a box with a mini tree and lights to our room prior to our departure and we decorated the room when we got there. The only thing I didn't like was packing for 2 seasons - it's quite cold in the mornings and evenings, but can reach the 70s in the day - there was frost on our windshield one morning and then we were in shorts in the afternoon! We will definitely spend a Christmas there in the future since we go about once a year and wouldn't feel bad if we had to skip something to avoid huge crowds. If you do plan on going, make sure you do your PSs the exact amount of days prior as called for!

We were there for Christmas last year(20th-29th) and really enjoyed it. I wouldnt do it every year because a part of me felt we missed our usual Christmas traditions with my family, but I would definitely do it again some time.
As for a tree, we looked at plenty of trees down there in the parks and resorts. I know some people have them delivered to their rooms or bring the fake ones, but there is no way I could have been bothered doing that.
The kids knew that Santa was goiong to bring our presents to our house like usual and we could get them when we came home. They were fine with that. However Santa did surprise them by leaving a "ticket" for a sleigh ride to take on Christmas night. Santa surprised me by leaving bags of goodies on all the doors in the resort(Poly...I assume they do this everywhere???), so I stuck the "ticket" in the bag of goodies.
Seeing the CP on Christmas Eve, and eating breakfast in the Castle on Christmas morning was truly magical. And while it wasnt our usual Christmas, it was definitely worth doing. :D

I posted a detailed daily trip report after returning home. If you are interested, try doing a search and it should come up.

We went over Y2K. We took a 2' tree with lights on it with us. Santa left a few disney gifts under the tree. We're going this Christmas as well and will do the same. We live in the north where we usually have a white Christmas and very cold temps. We've only been to WDW during peak holiday seasons ... Thanksgiving or Christmas! I think it would be such a let down to go any other time of year. Essentially everything is offered every day. It wasn't until I started lurking on these boards that I realized many visitors to WDW don't get opportunities to see Wishes, Fantasmic, etc. every night of the week. Yeah, with the holiday comes hoards of people. We just get there ahead of the crowds so that we do everything before they arrive. Once the crowds come, we relax and every attraction we redo is icing on the cake! The Christmas memories made far surpass any gifts under the tree we could possibly find. Packing for 2 seasons is a hassle, but for us the summers are the same way here.
