I've seen traveling with meds but does anyone one know what WDW guidelines are for medication not being in the original container if the med is a controlled substance? i.e. Vicodin, Norco, Zonegran?? Take the pain meds as needed so I carry some with me but don't want to cart around large bottles in the parks, anyone know about like empty film containers with the different meds in it?? :confused3

1. They do not insoect pill containers.

2. Your pharmacist will be happy to split your prescription so that you've got small bottles with a label for each med that you can put a few days worth of that med into.

3. I strongly suggest you only take what you'll need for teh day with you into the parks and leave the rest locked into the safe in your room.

I took a keychain with otc meds in and was never questioned about it at all (it's opaque, so there could have been anything in there).

i and ds take some controlled meds (including some that are in a category outside the norm). our pharmacist has advised us to only take them in the perscription bottles if we are traveling by air-you can encounter a major hassle if you have them and don't have proof on hand that they are prescribed and you are the person they are prescribed to (they can be seized by local authorities).

the pharmacy made up some travel size bottles for me (smaller than a film canister) with the perscription info. on them and no amount listed-so i can fill them with the appropriate number for travel.

i keep all the meds i don't have to carry on me locked in the hotel safe (for the one controlled that has to be kept cold i pay for a fridge so i can have a supply of those freezing things i can wrap the one in before i safe lock it).

We carry several bottles of medication with us all the time for DD. Although security does look in my purse, no onoe has ever really scrutinized the medicaion and/or bottles.

Rush Limbaugh is a recent example of that happening. They confiscated hhis medication until he could prove what it was and that he did have a prescription for it.

::yes::
That's a good idea. Besides the label, an actual prescription bottle is a better choice than an empty film container. Pill bottles are made of plastic that is safe for storing medications. Film containers are not made of food grade palstic and it might be possible for some of the components of the material to leach into the medication. Also, even after cleaning, some of the chemicals from the film may still be in the plastic.

I purchased a cute little pocket-sized pill box from the France store in Epcot. It's divided into 3 compartments, each big enough for 1 or 2 pills. It works great for carrying around what you will need for the day.

I once tried to put 3 pills in my pocket in no container - not recommended. I got wet at USO and found I had a pocket full of gritty narcotic mush.

FYI--You don't have to pay for a fridge at the Value Resorts at WDW if you need it for a medical reason. Just let them know when you make your ressie or at least call ahead of time. Also, I took my DD9's Ritalin in with me in little pill cases, and no one said a word. Good luck! :)

We take vicodin in the parks every trip. I often don't leave it in the original container. Last time I took my Flexeril bottle since it was the smallest then added a couple of vicodin which are much bigger than Flexeril. You can't mix up the 2. Other times I've ziplocked them and put them in a pouch of my camera bag. It has never been an issue. They don't take the time to read the scripts.
