WDW About To REALLY Get FROZEN!

Is this normal? I thought that one of the two water parks was always open during the winter, barring really really bad weather. Or does this count as really really bad weather?

Weds-Thurs-Fri this week day time highs in low 60s, evenings dropping down to low 40s, certainly not swimming temps and thus why open and staff the waterpark, but then back open on Sat as temps for weekend and next week back up to norms of low 70s/50s.

Somehow I want to blame this on FP+, just don't know how you do that yet.

Disney does keep one of the water parks open during the winter months as they switch off on a two month basis, ...BUT that does not mean that the park that is not shut down WILL be open every day during that month. The opening of the water parks is a management decision based on weather conditions and that does not just mean thunderstorms.

Now granted, 50's and low 60's feels far better than the 21 degrees outside my house today, but not sure if I would be swimming in 50 degree temps.

BB was closed one or two days when we were there in mid-November. There was a freeze warning and wind chill warning.

It was closed 2-3 days during the week of Thanksgiving due to weather.

Typhoon Lagoon is closed for refurbishment. So to have Blizzard closed, too, means NO waterparks.

What amazes me with them closing down the water parks because of the cold weather. Universal and SeaWorld keeps their water parks open. Discovery Cove is open at SeaWorld also. I'm sure that the pools at Disney resorts are open so why not keep the water park open since the water is heated.

I am guessing it's completely and totally about staffing i.e. not having the CMs report to fully staff an underutilized water park.

Just closing for temp seems odd. I'm guessing it is staffing as those above said.

I know around here we still have people in water parks in 50 degrees. Went once in Sept and it was 55 and it was definitely slower you could get on rides so much faster then a few weeks prior when it was 75 but it was still plenty warm for us and we loved the low crowds.

That would make sense, but they are closed the rest of the week.

They don't reopen until Saturday, when the temp goes back up.

It's not hard to anticipate that with highs in the low 60s, there won't be a crowd at the water park.

We are flying down Thursday night. We are going to MVMCP Friday and planned to take advantage of EMH Saturday night at MK. These low temps are scaring me to death!! I DO NOT LIKE BEING COLD:( I'm praying for a warm front to suddenly appear mid-week!! We fly back home Sunday when it starts to warm up again...ugh!!

Current Weather Channel: Thursday High 63 Low 43
Friday High 64 Low 39
Saturday High 64 Low 41
Sunday High 67 Low 52 (this is where the temps come back up)
