From CNN.com:

• The Federal Aviation Administration Tuesday announced flight restrictions for aircraft flying in the New York City and Washington areas, and near Disney World in Orlando, Florida, and Disneyland in Anaheim, California. Unless commercial or private pilots are granted specific exemptions from air traffic controllers, no flights are allowed within a three-mile radius around the parks or below 3,000 feet in the area.

My girlfriends were trying to talk me out of taking my upcoming WDW trip because of this. I am still going! I refuse to live in fear!

Balderdash. My sister, BIL and two nieces will be in Orlando for a week, 3 days at Disney (they want to do Universal as well) and I'm not worried. Life goes on.

I didn't like this at first, but actually doesn't it make the Disney parks safer?

I seem to recall a time when flying over WDW was at least discouraged so that it wouldn't detract from the atmosphere. This could be a good thing, even if for different reasons.

I wish they would do that at MOA too, Shawn. Of course, that might be pretty hard with the airport a mile away!:p Seriously though, I thought there was already such an order in effect, but now the government is going to help enforce it.

Me too Diane, though I'm not convinced that a no-fly zone really protects anything.

I pretty much feel that if someone really wants to blow themselves and others up, there isn't much anyone can really do to stop them. Especially if they hit the "soft targets" of apartment buildings, etc.
