WCC or CM for first night fun?

Hi! We're trying to decide which restaurant would be most fun for our "opening night"... Whispering Canyon or Chef Mickeys?

We will have other character meals during the week so we do have other chances to meet The Big Cheese...


Any comments or suggestions would be great!

We generally do WCC on our first night at WDW. Not sure why, it just became a tradition.

We will be doing CM at about the halfway point.

However, if the kids really want to see characters right away, CM is a no-brainer.

I am trying to decide this, too! There are no little kids in our party but I still think you need to see the characters! I am deciding between Chef Mickey (but we alwayssss do that!) and Crystal Palace, Park Fare, or WCC even though I know there are no characters! Let me know what you decide!

Well, I am biased, because we did CM on the first night of our kids' first trip ever, so it holds special memories.

That said, if you are going to do WCC I might do it early in the trip, because after a few long days at the parks, the last thing I personally want to do is have a hootin' hollerin' time there. Just too much of a good thing for me, I guess. Others may disagree, but that's just me!

It could be just me, but I am not loving Chef Mickey's. We went our first night last trip and I was just underwhelmed. I think I didn't enjoy it because you're already tired from the flight...etc and then you've got to stand in line at the buffet.

We also ate at WCC last time and I thought the food was infinitely better than CM and I didn't have to get up to get it. Call me lazy, but that would make the decision for me.
