So here's what the doctor said. We are to keep the current med, but reduce back to the original dose. And we are to add Adderall or Concerta, which is usually for ADHD kids, but for Tyler it will supposedly increase his impulse control and when that's under control, the other med will be able to help reduce the aggression and anxiety.

So wish Tyler luck please. The Dr. said that like the current med, if the added one works, we'll know right away, probably in a few days, but if it doesn't work, we'll know IMMEDIATELY because when it doesn't work it causes EXTREME irritability. So that's why he gave us both kinds. We are to try one first and if it works, stick with it and if it doesn't work, switch to the other. And if neither work, he'll give us another option at our 10/23 appointment.

By the way, Ice Queen didn't come to the appointment. I suspected she wouldn't. ;)

Did the Dr give you samples of the 2 new ones?

I'm back.....couldn't sleep.....John is snoring.....I know he's exhausted. I slept a lot in the car so I'm good.

I am relaxing and elevating my legs so I'll be in good shape to play when I get there tomorrow. Can't wait to see you on Saturday. I'll give you a call Friday after work. What time would be good for you? 6-7 pm?

I get off 715pm...hoping to do dinner w/ a friend but I haven't heard back from her. Even if you have to leave a message, call - I can always call you back. It'll be good to see you Saturday.

I know how you feel. Even though we are not quite in this position yet we are going to be in a bind for sure. Jon has two aunts that never had any kids plus we have both sets of parents and he has a brother that is married with a baby and he can't take care of himself either. We could build a house in the back for my parents or my mom but I could NEVER live with his mom. She is already losing her mind in my opinion and both of her parents had Alzheimer which is hereditary. I wonder what happens to them in the in between stage when they can't live in a home and they can't live on their own. We urged them to move into a senior condo type place at the beach but since every house on their street, except theirs and the neighbor's, burned down last year, they can't sell it. I'm not even close to this happening and I'm so stressed out about it. His parents are close to 70 but my parents are still in their 50's.

Assisted living facilities.

GOOGLE it now, make some calls and some visits and be prepared.

One of my friends and her husband sold their home when he retired at about 68 years of age--not all that old when you are 59 like me.

They moved to Westminster Village North. It is in the company called Presbyterian Homes. They have an apartment now. They have their own car, cook their own meals, come and go as they choose. They could have had a cottage like another friend of ours, but preferred the apartment.

As they need more and more care, they will move to different parts of the campus but the deal is set and they chose the place THEMSELVES. Their kids did not have to PUT them in a home.

As a CONTROL FREAK OF THE FIRST ORDER, I really like this. They made their own arrangements! :thumbsup2

Thanks Deb. The best part is how his dad has finally been on the same page as me & the Dr. for a while now. Not sure what the heck happened to him, or who that man is and what he did with Tyler's dad, but I'm happy about it! :goodvibes

HAPPY DANCE! :dance3:

If you don't have enough property to build an additional structure, you can always go up. Buid a second story with it's own outside entrance and you live there. Give your parents the downstairs. It's a possibility.

Great thought, but I need a 1 story house - after 2 knee surgeries (and facing #3) I try not to do steps

When you have a deal with your sister about where, have a place chosen, it is furnished with any furniture and decorative items that you have that WERE THEIRS and you are ready for them to come.....

if you invite them to come VISIT THEIR VACATION HOME and encourage them to bring some of their STUFF TO MAKE IT MORE HOMEY...

perhaps the VISITS to the US can be gradually become longer and longer and the away time shorter and shorter.

Seems like a sudden move would be harder to accept than the idea of a visit of indeterminate length.

If you buy one way airfare you can prolong the visit while you wait for a good deal for the return flight.....

 Just some ideas.....

Jan :)

Thanks Jan :)

I think this is a great option, but I don't think MY parents would like it. It will definately be presented as an option to them, tho.

I heard on the news last night that McCain has never wanted to do a debate.

Sounded to me like that was coming from people dumping on him. He wanted town hall meetings, right? That would be less control for the candidates and more input from the voters. Harder to prepare for I'd think.

Hi All.....just checking in.....I'm still reading from page 29.......I'll catch up soon......just wanted to say hi!

Me and John are in Santee, South Carolina. John slept until 12:30am last night and then we left at 1am. We drove until noon today and took a hotel room. We just had breakfast and now we're going to sleep for a while. I'm elevating my legs!!!! Then a shower and shave and we'll hit the road again.

John got a $250 speeding ticket for going 15 mph over the limit. Wow......they don't mess around in South Carolina. He's going to set the cruise control when we start up again to keep him honest.

The weather is not nice enough to put the roof down on the car. There's a coastal storm hitting the Carolinas and Virginia Beach. Tomorrow will be nicer I hope.

Sorry about the ticket. I hope you have fun and get some rest.

Right now I wish I had land where a cottage/rancher could be built detached from my house.....oh well.

Funny, I have the land and I'm trying to get rid of it so I don't have houses back there :lmao: :lmao:

Why are people having trouble that didn't lose money? I wonder this every day. All of my family and friends are in trouble and didn't lose any jobs or hours. We lost a lot of money so I understand why we are hurting but have things really gotten that much more expensive. Jon's work is booming by the way :confused3 Everyone is trying to double the little money they do have.

We are fine.

The only thing I have done is little by little I plan my trips more as the gas price goes up. Then when it comes down again, I maintain that economy.

I have heard some people complain that they did not get a raise this year. I have never gotten a raise and have had three pay cuts in 14 years.

Seems like our media is making a bigger deal of this than it should be. We had to take a real hit on the selling price of our RV but finally got a buyer. A friend lost his job at an RV dealer because they were not selling enough RVs to justify so many salesmen and he was the last hired. But the gasoline came back down and they did not rehire him. He thinks it is because the TV is not helping people realize that it came down, they keep implying it will go back up again and soon.

He is so tired of stories of doom and gloom. They aren't happy unless we are miserable. The only news they want to print is bad stuff according to him.

I hope this is the right combination. Why would she come? It sounds to me like she is the one that doesn't believe in the meds.

WHAT GREAT PICTURES!

Thanks!

sound great, we might do that sometime future. Maybe I bring my lady friend.

Oh I am laughing now that we could send all the kids to Cheri, or Monica, or Michelle????

V - are you, John & the girls still coming up to WDW next month???

Let me know the dates & I may even be able to babysit a night for you so that you & John can go have some adult time. (this offer will also go to other families coming to WDW if I can swing it :goodvibes )

Monica, You're a saint!

;) WOW
I WANT TO GO THERE!
Jan

Yeah, I'm lucky I get to tag along with her!

I could tolerate my parents but not Jon's family. The brother, wife and baby would have to come along with the package. My mom would be the type of person to call before she came up front, just to make sure we were ready for her to come up. Jon's parents live two hours away and don't call before they come We had them here for around two months when they had the fires. Every night I cooked really nice meals for them. Well one night I made fettucini alfredo and I was afraid I didn't have enough for everyone so I asked them to stop at the store and buy some bread so I could make garlic bread and he told me no  They were already out and by a store. Then she asked me for my receipts so she could get the money back from FEMA for the groceries I bought. She ended up getting over $20,000 after all the food and "hotel" costs she claimed and we didn't get one dime. Our food bill went up drastically because there is five of them and our electric bill tripled because they stayed in a motor home that was plugged in. She claimed OUR electric bill and water bill to get more money She sent my SIL down to the evacuation center to get diapers and formula. They ended up making out on this deal and they are taking away from people that need the supplies. I just know if I tried to live with this family that I would go crazy or leave and Jon hates them more than me so it would just never happen. I'm just worried his parents won't leave us enough money to take care of his brother because right now we couldn't afford it.

 Hard to believe they didn't give you *anything* for all you did for them!

Hi everybody.:) Just got some internet time so thought I would catch up. Could Gaylean, _Bubba and Venetia refrain from night chats whilst I am away please!!!:lmao:

I've missed loads of quotes just to get through!! Some wonderful photos, thanks.

Looks like Ian has been sunbathing in socks!!!;) Great photos by the way.:thumbsup2

Ha! I didn't even notice that!

Good to hear from you, Marilyn! Enjoy yourself and keep checking in!

That's scary, isn't it? We have a casino here (Indian res.) I wonder if their business has picked up, too? Probably...:sad2:

I didn't know Cheri was offering too. I didn't get that post :lmao:

Uh....hopefully *nobody* got that post, 'cause I didn't post it!

I don't know how it came that we lucked out with this group, but I am so THANKFUL that it worked out this way :grouphug:

I know that there will be atleast 1 person who will understand where I'm coming from & that even those who don't--I will get empathy & no judgement.
(like w/ my depression....my father doesn't get it....he used to ask me why I couldn't "snap out of it")

:grouphug:

Could it really be true.....

a 4th Pirate movie?

Ya gotta love Captain Jack:love:

I read this today, too! I'm so excited! Not sure if I'll be up for another premier, however!:rotfl2:

I have no idea. A coworker at lunch today told me I'm supposed to have some sort of ATM card that the firm puts money into for something related to medical. I have NO idea what she's talking about. Again, our wonderful manager showing her wonderful communcation skills. :sad2: I'll find out later, if I end up staying.

My sisters both have cards like this (even the Dr. sister). I hadn't heard of it before. I think you put money in it (before taxes) then use it for medical expenses. It's more like a debit card, I think.

Hi Marilyn, nice to see you're relaxing and checking in.

Holly, stick with the flexible job. The other job will not allow you the time that you need to take off for Tyler. That's more important than $2000 a year. The medical deduction is important, but like Jan said.....maybe you can start a fund and force a savings to cover the deductible. Hugs to you and Tyler, hang in there......you will get passed this.

Monica, I know what you're feeling with your parents getting older. I can't tell you how many times I talked to my mother about adding a "mother-in-law" suite onto my house because I have plenty of land. I even told her that I would put her own simple house on my property. She said NO to everything I suggested. She wasn't willing to leave her home. She eventually moved her bedroom downstairs and I got her an electronic seat to put on the staircase so she could ride up when she needed to. She would not let me drive her everywhere and she would not let me help her with her paperwork and finances. So after her death, NOW we have to deal with the mess she left behind. My brother cleaned out the house and I'm doing everything else. It has not been easy on us, but it's what she wanted.

Gaylean, hugs to you today while you're feeling down. Hope you get better soon.

I agree with all the above. :)

(It's like how Nan copies people's birthday greetings! I copy entire paragraphs!);)

 to you and Tyler!

Hi Jacks, I didn't like their oatmeal either. Don't you feel lighter after eating this food for almost a week now? I know I do when I'm on it. I never get too full. I always get hungry at meal times. I feel very balanced. I think it's the way you're supposed to feel after every meal when you eat properly.

I lost 3lbs this past week. It's slow, but it's going in the right direction. Of course, now I'm on vaca so I'm off dieting again. I had french fries today. I wanted them for weeks already. I waited until now and it was worth it.

Jackie, I figure that if you have to be on a diet, then BistroMD is a good one to do. It's easy and it tastes good. You'll see good results when you weigh yourself next time and it will all be worthwhile.

:thumbsup2

Tyler may have said something to him to make him see the light! Now that he's on the same page as you, ice queen is not happy about it. They probably disagreed and he said something like, he's my kid not yours......and now she knows where the line is drawn. I do recall her having a problem with it in the past. Better that she found out. So all is very good and getting better!
Yeah, I have no idea what happened, but I'm happy with it. And I get to see Tyler tonight too at scouts. I made sure his dad knows I'm coming and he said he doesn't mind. I'm really going to talk to the mom who just recently volunteered to be Cubmaster. She's trying to get me to be Popcorn Kernal. It's so unorganized because not many people have volunteered to do stuff.

Thanks Deb. The best part is how his dad has finally been on the same page as me & the Dr. for a while now. Not sure what the heck happened to him, or who that man is and what he did with Tyler's dad, but I'm happy about it! :goodvibes

It takes so long to find the right meds. I hope his dad doesn't give up hope. I'm not sure what he thinks the alternative is. Does he think there is something else you guys can do that you already haven't tried?

Did the Dr give you samples of the 2 new ones?
No, he didn't have any. He gave us 15 days of each of the 2 new ones. His dad is going to fill one tonight and give it to him tomorrow. I think he's going to try the Adderall first because if Tyler has trouble swallowing a capsule, that kind can be opened and put in a spoonful of pudding or something, the Concerta cannot.

I get off 715pm...hoping to do dinner w/ a friend but I haven't heard back from her. Even if you have to leave a message, call - I can always call you back. It'll be good to see you Saturday.

OK You got it. Have a nice dinner, maybe she is just busy now and she'll get back to you soon.

We'll have fun Saturday. Cya then!

I don't know how it came that we lucked out with this group, but I am so THANKFUL that it worked out this way :grouphug:

(like w/ my depression....my father doesn't get it....he used to ask me why I couldn't "snap out of it")

Unfortunately that is what they were taught back when he was a young man. No one understood about biochemical imbalances, and, even if they did, they had no idea how to fix them. There were some attempts but usually the drugs had side-effects that were worse than the disease.

But, we have more information so we know it is not something you can SNAP out of. So perhaps that is part of it.

I am sure he loves you as best he can. And he wants nothing but the best for you. Unfortunately Dad's of that generation are not real good at saying so.

We love you too and are glad to hear you are making some progress!! :yay:

How is today going?

Jan :)
