Not anymore. He used to say, "Tyler just has to learn to behave" or that he'll outgrow these things. But today he finally admitted that we've been trying behavioral methods for 3 years with no success and that it's time to try whatever we can. I almost fainted.

The alternative is that you are bad parents and he's a bad kid. What dad wants to think that? I've NEVER used behavioral methods on my kids and they have never hurt anyone. There is something wrong with him. I'm so happy he sees this now

If you are going to do that, check Starbucks. I have a friend who got medical coverage for her family while her husband was out of work by working at Starbucks. She got a free pound of coffee each week and used it for Christmas gifts for everyone and a hostess gift for us when they came to visit. You could work there the nights Tyler is at his Dad's. It would cut into DISing time, but we would understand

Yea, bummer! I don't have to pay it right now so I'll deal with it when I get back.....just add it to the budget for next month.....it's not due until December.

Yes, we're resting now but we're storing up the energy to go play and have fun after we get there tomorrow.

Yea, for Brooke winning an award. That's such a nice thing for the school to do for the kids. I hope Ethan's not jealous.

She gets a Littlest Pet Shop today so I know he will be. It keeps him on his toes

Hi Jan.......I'm elevating!!!! My leg is in pretty good condition considering I was just in a car for 11 hours. Only the normal amount of swelling, not a real lot like I usually get in long car rides. That's good. Now I'm in the hotel and I'm elevating it on a hassack. It should stay good.

How are you today?

I'm good--

We have a condo Board of directors meeting tonight and I am president. That is not as stressful as it sounds because I do not have to take action on my own for anything, I cannot take action on my own for anything, so, it's all up to the Board.

What ticks me off is people who complain to the maintenance guy but never come to the meetings......

Can you elevate in the car? Sit in the back sideways with both legs on the seat?

I think we all have at some point but Jan has mentioned that her generation was really into. Heck they may have started it

I think this is a great option, but I don't think MY parents would like it. It will definately be presented as an option to them, tho.

My Mom has Alzheimers. When we knew that she could not stay any longer with my brother because he was getting no sleep at all and his heart arrythmias were coming back, Mom VISITED Clare Bridge Cottage for some weekend stays. He was gone or at home, but did not visit her those two or three days. Little by little she stayed longer but when he came he would take her home.

One time he went to visit but did not take her home. That was it. A few times she griped about it, but now I think she is far enough gone that she does not remember.

The staff there work 8 hours and then go home to their families and get a good night's sleep so they can be up and interacting with the residents. It is not at all the same situation as having a parent in your home and when one needs 24 hour supervision, it is not feasible to do that alone.

Is there a Disney Store near by??? A Walmart/Target or grocery store would be good too - you would probably get a discount.

Unfortunately, all our Disney stores closed. Walmart was my #1 choice because I shop there most. Sorry Ian!

Unfortunately that is what they were taught back when he was a young man. No one understood about biochemical imbalances, and, even if they did, they had no idea how to fix them. There were some attempts but usually the drugs had side-effects that were worse than the disease.

But, we have more information so we know it is not something you can SNAP out of. So perhaps that is part of it.

I am sure he loves you as best he can. And he wants nothing but the best for you. Unfortunately Dad's of that generation are not real good at saying so.

We love you too and are glad to hear you are making some progress!!

Before Mom needed 24 hour institutional care, my brother and sister took turns. She would spend fall winter spring with my sister in Alabama as my brother taught. I visited and took her on trips--respite for my sister or brother, whoever had her.

When he was off in the spring she would go back to NY and he would stay with her at her house.

Before that he looked in on her a couple times a week.

As her needs changed, we had to change what we did.

I had expected that when she was in full-time care she would be here and I would be incharge of that. But when the room opened up, my brother said he did not want her this far away so he found her a place near where she had lived over 50 years. When he takes her for a ride she still sometimes recognized things. Out here she would know nothing and no one.

I am going to visit october 5-10. I will stay in my old room as my brother is living in the house where we grew up. I will take her to visit a friend on Monday and do other things with her to give him a break. We will go see the fall foliage in the Adirondacks on a RR tour.

Each family has to do what works best for them!

I had not thought of that. I do notice that the stands at the ball games seem really full. When we went to a Cardinals game for our Anniversary in August it was a sell-out crowd.

If they don't have money, how are they buying baseball tickets and baseball food?

I guess that may be true for some but I know a lot of people that are struggling for one reason or another. The kid's have fundraisers and I feel too bad to ask anyone if they want to buy anything.

Yup, I always felt that way. I tried to present it as an option.

"The kids are selling _ _ _ _ _ and if you are interested here is the order form."

No pressure at all. Some people want to help a certain kid, or certain school or certain organization.

Sometimes I found out later that people I did not think could afford it were waiting for me to tell them when our Troop was doing Boy Scout popcorn because they like it better than other kinds. And I thought I was being nice to them by not asking.

Hello everyone. I'm tired and down today. I read the posts but I don't feel like commenting today.
Brooke got the first "Student of the Month" award today so I was basically at the school all day. I went to the assembly and worked. Just so I don't feel like I'm only telling good things about my kids, I will mention that Ethan has never gotten this particular award Brooke is the first to get it every year and Ethan gets awards for academics but never for citizenship. Well the teacher did give him one last year for being a good friend I think she made it up so he could one Anyway, I never got them either. I was too chatty
