They basically do all their business in the water, but will come out to baske in the sun. They require the UV rays to stay healthy.

I try all kinds of fruit and veggies on them. Some of mine like one thing while others like another. It's a matter of taste. You could try a piece of apple, orange, bananna, pear, mellon, plumb, anything really. The only thing is that you have to put it in the water for them to eat from there. They will not eat outside of the water.

Thank you for taking pictures for me. I'm anxious to see what kind of turtles they are. If I had to take a guess, I would say they are Midland turtles. They seem to be in most of the ponds in the east coast areas.

I have Red Eared Sliders, Yellow River Cooters and an Eastern Painted turtle. I don't have any Midlands, but I would like some, but then I will be getting divorced.....so probably best not to get any.

They looked fairly standard grey tortoise coloured to me Deb. Nothing special with red ears, yellow cooted or painted!!!:lmao: However, we did find them very cute.

Someone was just speculating the the Christmas cruise may be as much as the Baltic ones! :scared1: (I think based on the DVC points chart that was just released.) So if they were the same the alternate cost differences would be:

Air fare round trip to Orlando vs London
Pre-cruise hotel stay (and London may require an extra day due to jet lag)
Dollar to pound ratio for above
Cost difference in transfers to ship
More ($) excursions (more history!) for Baltic
Full payment in March or August (ish)
Cat 10 for 3 in Baltic vs having to have a more expensive Cat 6 for Christmas

non finincial considerations:
leaving Phoenix in hot June vs lovely December
possibility of seeing the new ship at the shipyards (I think that would be so cool....would skip Berlin for that)

must consider:
Monica will decide against Baltic on DCL and I'll be put out of my misery!:lmao: :lmao: I'm pretty sure I'm capable of rationalizing whatever/wherever I end up!

Oh, I feel your stress Jackie. I don't know what to do. At the moment I have a request in for the Baltic as I thought those prices might rise quicker. I will hang on for the TA until we make our minds up!! Didn't want to pay 2 lots of deposits.:scared1:

I had a fight with the Chicago Transit Authority (not the rock group). We came home earlier and found our cable laying on the ground. It had been ripped out of the wall of the house (the cable comes from the telephone pole, across the alley, under the train tracks and to our house).

The CTA (not the rock group) sent their electrician to repair it.

I also misread the flyer that we got through the door. I thought the work was going on from midnight to 5 AM, it turns out that it's going on from midnight Friday until 5AM Monday! In other words, they are working around the clock until early Monday morning.

That is bad!! And that is BAD! These companies get away with too much.

:lmao: And we must remember....there is always Plan B. But now that I've seen all those Tortola folks on the Baltic thread...:scared:

The group on the Baltic seem great don't they? That is a bit of my problem now too when you think you would like cruising with them.

Here is my public service announcement for today -

While I know most on this thread would not go see a movie like Quarantine - please warn anyone you know who might.

We went to an early show today. The movie's story, cast etc. wasn't bad but the filming style is hand held camera. Neither Blair Witch or Cloverfield bothered me. But this movie made me so nauseous I came right home and went to bed for 2 hours. I think the difference was this one has a scene where they are showing a series of news articles and headlines that you need to read while the camera is shaking.

Oh I hate that method of filming.

Yes they got here this morning. We met Steph and Brian for lunch at an Italian Restaurant. And here are some pics...............

Never seen a pizza like that before!!:scared1: Glad you had such a great time.

I'm here! Just finished reading Tyler's bedtime book and he's zonked out. After I picked him up, we came home for a quick supper, then had to go grocery shopping. But before grocery shopping we had to go clothes shopping. Tyler's tie fell apart at picture day at school on Monday, and he's miserable without one. :lmao: One of the first things he asked me after coming home from his dad's was how will he look nice at church without a tie. Good grief. Our church is very casual and I think maybe only one other boy wears a tie. Even the adults dress casually, many even wear jeans. Nobody cares what people wear, but he just refuses to wear anything but a whole nice outfit.

So while we were at that store, it was horrible trying to get him to pick a tie. He liked them all, so I agreed to let him get 2. While I was looking at shirts, he found dress pants and actually grabbed the right size. After he picked out his shirt, he reminded me that his dress shoes are way too small and he's tired of not having dress shoes, so that department was our final stop. Shoes, a pair of dress pants, one dress shirt, 2 ties, and an empty purse afterwards. :rotfl2: (Just kidding!)

Then we hit the grocery store and came home to get him ready for bed. :thumbsup2

Good shopping trip there Holly. At least you don't have to drag him kicking and screaming to the clothes shop!;)

Tyler was telling me how his stepmom threw a temper tantrum and almost moved out over the weekend. Good grief. He was amazed at how stupid she was acting because it all started with a pair of pants. Apparently when his dad moved the laundry from the washer to the dryer, he accidentally left behind a pair of her pajama pants. Somehow he discovered this later, and hung them up to dry rather than run the dryer again for one piece of clothing. Well, she asked why the heck her pajama pants were hanging up and that set her off. One thing led to another and she ended up yelling at his dad in their bedroom, his dad asked her to leave the room until she could calm down, that made her more mad, and she pulled all of her clothes from the drawers and closet onto the bed, then went looking for a suitcase. Not sure what made her calm down, but Tyler was just amazed that an adult would throw a fit over something like that.

It sort of makes me want to ask his dad to ask her to control her temper around Tyler, so he doesn't see bad examples, but then on the other hand, he's not upset about it because he already realizes how stupid the whole thing is, so I don't know.

That marriage seems dodgy, and she really shouldn't behave like that with Tyler there.

Jackie, Monica and Connie. One of the UK girls on the Baltic thread(ClaireL) runs her own small UK Disney board which I am a member of. She and her hubby Nathan are police officers, so if we keep close to them on the excursions we will be ok!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: She is lovely. We are meeting them in December when we are over together with a few other of the board members.

I absolutely HATE shopping, especially for clothes, and he'd be happy looking for hours. :headache:

I've felt for some time now that they have issues and I just don't see them lasting forever. That type of behavior would wear thin on the most patient of people, and his dad is NOT patient at all.

Tyler told me today that she did apologize to both of them, so that's good. I didn't stretch out the conversation, just told him that's unacceptable behavior for adults (or anybody), just so he knows and doesn't think that's how we act. :sad2:

That was worth doing Deborah. Now you just need to get the Baltic cruise money!!!;) Wow, I'm frightened about the costs there. I bet the excursions are going to be horrendously priced.

IAN, calling Ian.

Do you have any WW point free soup recipes? I do the usual veggie one, but I did have a great point feee butternut squash soup recipe a few years ago and can't find it! I think it had onions, butternut squash(now there's a surprise!) stock and spices.

Thank you.

Oh I remember a great soup I made back when I was on Adkins a few years back....spinach and sausage, it was good.

I have a "create your own soup" chart from WW. Start with once cup of broth (beef, chicken, vegetable) and add:

1/2 cup of any: celery, bell peppers, muchrooms, brocolli, asparagus, green beans

For one point add: 2 oz cooked shrimp, or 1/4 cup cooked chopped clams or 1/2 cup cooked crabmeat

For two points add: 1 1/2 oz lean roast beef, 2 oz roast chicken or turkey breast or 2 oz lean cooked ham

For one point add: 1/2 cupcooked cornor potato or lima beans or red kidney beans

For two points add 1/2 cup cooked rice, or pasta, or black garbanzo beans, or navy, pinto or white beans.

Season to taste. You can have as hearty or light soup as you want

(they had a create your on pizza chart too!)

We are finally waking up in the Northwest. It is cold here, 8:30 am and it is just now up to 30 degrees. Warm in the house though and no moisture so no snow or ice. We took a day trip on Friday to a ghost town (Garnet) in the mountains. There was snow there. We decided to not stay long and go back to explore in the summer. It was a fun day though, DS, DDIL and DGS were with us. :grouphug:

Oh, here's something for the season

Punpkin Spice Cupcakes with Frosting

1 box duncan hines spice cake mix
1 15 oz can pumpkin
1/2 cur water

Betty Crocker's whipped cream cheese frosting

Thoroughly mix together and divide among 20-24 cupcake cups. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 18-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean

Cool completely. Frost cupcakes with 1 Tablespoon Betty Crocker's whipped cream cheese frosting

3 points each

Regarding 2010.....if you can't decide....if you can't afford.....just remember.....

NEW SHIP 2011

Just might be worth saving up for! :thumbsup2

I think that is where we are headed, the 2011. We are going to Las Vegas and Hawaii this next year. Short trips and close to home. But are planning a big one for 2011. Although we are interested in the 2010 Xmas.

I wonder how Lisa(Calmom) is and all her boys.

I heard from her recently, they are busy, busy, busy.

I'm partial to the oat bran gooey muffin myself.

The bread pudding I make is like no other. It is made with challah, that on it's own tastes almost like cake. The caramel sauce is made with heavy cream. It's incredible.

The turkey is usually free range organic, though this year I'm toying with the idea of preparing a free range organic heritage turkey. The stuffing will be a cranberry, leek and sausage stuffing.

YUMMY! Have you tried the Shelton's Turkeys?

Do you guys know what the Xmas trips are going to be? And DVC points? I didn't see any for any of the 2010 cruises?
