do you really think that I can tell them my friend from the Disney cruise who's sister is a refugee from the huricane believes I should be excused that would work :confused3

I call after 5pm here, 1 hour 15 minutes to find out if I go or just call on Monday afternoon, I hope I don't have to go. The last time my mom got called she had to go to Palo Alto, which was not an easy trip for her, nor would it be for me either  I still think the fact that I take care of my children ages 11 and 8 years old after school is reason enough to excuse me. I can't very well leave them home alone can I?

Our court system now allows us to schedule our jury service. I still can do the call in and check system, or just call and and set up a specific day we can attend.

that would be a nice way to work it. Then people can do what they can do rather than what they are told...oh well, Santa Clara County is not that up to date yet...

gotta go to the other room to watch Oprah, the kids are controlling the tv in this room (okay in all fairness their shows don't play on the tv in my bedroom) back in a while.

Shame on me, I didn't get up and go to boot camp today :sad2:

I just didn't have the motovation.

Back to it on Monday.

We rented our house and I have to prepare and sign the lease at noon so I better get moving

The important thing is to put the past in the past.

A very wise WW leader (it might have been me) once said, every minute we get a brand new minute.

Michelle, I just saw Clear Lake on the TV news......the water was up to the news broadcaster's knees and Ike still isn't going to hit for another 6 hours. It's so big, it's scary. They announced that the people who didn't evacuate should write their social security numbers on their arms. Can you imagine? If they told me that, I would NOT be staying!!!

I am so happy this week is over.

I was only at work for 3 days, but it felt more like 2 weeks.

Of course there were the usual deadlines, but with some added stuff.

I have been made responsible for getting our new corporate Intranet up and running (my boss foolishly showed the Mouse Manager web site to her boss the CIO).

The go live date is September 22nd, and this "mini-project" has turned into a full time job, in addition to my other full time job.

The Intranet has over 500 pages. I created about 480 of them.

So, between my regular deadlines and the Intranet, I have been busier than a one legged man in a butt kicking contest.

On the home front, things are somewhat quiet except ...

Before we left for California, I had decided I was fed up with our AT&T DSL. On a fairly frequent basis it goes out altogether. I am tired of support asking me the same questions again and again, to which I respond, the only change has been I went to sleep and then I woke up, or "I went to the bathroom and I flushed. Should I have not done that? Did that bring he DSL down?"

Then to boot, when it is working, it's slow ... very slow.

What is quite ironic is that all of these problems started when I upgraded the line to "faster DSL."

So, to make a short story long, before leaving for California, I decided to switch us to Comcast cable Internet.

I scheduled the install for tomorrow, September 13th.

They decided that I probably don't know what I want and only Comcast knows what's best for me, so they dispatched the installer yesterday, Thursday afternoon while I was at work.

Apparently when I scheduled the service and we agreed on Saturday the 13th, they entered Thursday, the 11th.

The woman on the phone asked if there was anyone at home who could deal with the installer?

I responded, "Yes, there is, but quite frankly the installer would have greater success if they talked about the installation with a bowl of fruit. The bowl of fruit is better equipped to deal with an Internet installation."

(I really did say that. Sukie has many strengths. Things technical is not one of them.)

The installer did come and it was a disaster.

We are now on a waiting list for tomorrow, but with an appointment for Saturday the 20th.

I would say that as a first experience with Comcast, this did not portend well.

So, now is the weekend. Tomorrow morning we need to go grocery shopping, and then later in the morning I will work on downloading the photos from our cameras.

I have also been reading what Michelle has been writing about the hurricane with great interest. My sister lives in Houston, I guess I should call her.

I know, I'm a bad brother and neglectful. On the plus side, I did remember to tell her that I was getting married. I managed to remember to do that the weekend before we left for California.

Hi Ian, sounds like you're going to be doing a lot of OT now that you're back.

Kill the cable guy! Try verizon fios if you can get it.

Hug Sukie, I'm with him on the techno end. My IT specialist is my live in love too.

CALL YOUR SISTER!!!:bride: :flower3: princess: princess:

They figured it out eventually :sad1: It is harder when one believes and the other gives it away  The pixie dust on the bed helped a lot on the cruise.
Well, Tyler first told me when he was 4 that they're not real because they don't talk and they don't blink. But I told him I don't believe him and it was never mentioned again until now, 2 years later.

Oh, that day in the car, he also told me, "I also think they might be robots, but I'm not sure". :rotfl2:

That is funny because Ethan told Brooke that the Tink in the fireworks at DL was a robot. Brooke asked me and I told her that it was a real person. They fought back and forth and I told him it was a real person. He never believed me but I didn't lie.
