what is "Heliotrope" is it purple bruise, brown bruise, or yellow-green bruise?

or all of the above in a mottled effect ??? :confused3

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Jan :rotfl:

Off white is sounding VERY GOOD!! I like off white. I am such an 80's person.

We're only partly metric. We buy milk and gas by the litre, but we buy apples in 5lb bags. We measure ourselves in lbs and our height in ft/inches except for the doctors office when they always weigh us in kg. Where I work is even worse. We make MDF board on a press that is 30metres long and can press 8 or 10ft wide :lmao: :lmao: The press measures thickness in mm (millimetres) but the sanders do everything in thousands of a inch :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I can do many conversions in my head. Okay babbling, time to stop

 TOUCHDOWN:banana: sorry watching game and typing too!

I thnnk what turned most of us off was doing the conversions. Really now, is there any point to that? Do I need to know how many ounces in a liter? Why not measure something and stay in the same mode. if the recipe uses metric, just use the metric measuring cups. If the project is measured in inches, get that tape measure.

Why convert? :confused3

That always seemed like an exercise in futility designed to engender resentment on the part of those being asked to change to metric.
:hippie: It's a conspiracy man :hippie:

Jan :earsgirl:

You need to get caught up and NEVER forget Peppermint Patty

She is a kid in the Peanuts cartoon stirip, is she also a Strawbrry shortcake?

I am too old for them, they were more for my kids--only I had boys and they were not interested--but I think they are trying to suck you guys (gals) into buying for your children what you liked as kids. Nostalgia leads to spending....

And,
:confused3 if you drive to BC and Shannon drives down, how will you see the Star Wars stuff? :scratchin

Jan :earsgirl:

Nope not that simple. Take F x5/9 then -32. Fahrenheit degrees aren't a consistent size, so they have to use a fraction in the conversion. YUCK

 Aren't the fahrenheit degrees all the same incremental size, but the increment is not the same size as the celcius degrees?--Like inches are not the same size as millimeters. :confused3

So the Fahrenheit degree is 5/9 the size of a Celcius degree, right?

Jan :upsidedow what am I doing discussing degree size at 3:23 am when none of you are here anyway? :upsidedow

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Or passed out from too much beer! I haven't done that either for about 16 years! Oh, wait, that's not true. Last time I did that was the last week of August in 2001. :rotfl:

Sounds like a story.....

:cool1:

that's a fantastic mental shortcut ::yes:: - I can't do the whole 5/9th thing in my head. Here all the weather forecasts are in Celsium so when we go south all I know if 90 is fairly warm and 100 is sweltering :lmao:

Then you are more tolerant than I....

70 is comfy
80 is warm
90 is hot
100 is swealtering

add hot flashes and I need a neck cooler and some gatorade! ::yes::

Jan :earsgirl:

You are correct, that was poor math ettiquette. (F-30) /2. I have to remember this so I don't have to pull out the calculater next time it comes up at work. I am a lab tech and wear a bright orange reflective vest with many pockets filled with calculator, highlighter, pens, pencil, micrometer, measuring tape - its a very sexy look :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Ony if you add a hard hat and steel reinforced work boots :lmao:

Jan :rotfl:

:cool1: :cool1: BC has come back to tie the football game. Not that anybody cares, but it'd be so nice if they win and Ken phones me happy tonight. Only 5min game time left, and then Ken gets the fun job of getting 3 overtired kids out of a stadium, into the van for a 30min drive and then waking them up to go into the apartment. Part of me wishes I could be there and part of me is so relaxed and enjoying myself here :lmao: :lmao:

who's apartment?

:confused3

isn't chiffon just another word for meringue, so really you were right ;)

I only ever had strawberry shortcut, but I really wanted Apple Dumpling because I don't like strawberries :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Nope :sad2:

CHIFFON (in cooking) having a light, frothy texture, as certain pies and cakes containing beaten egg whites.

MERINGUE a delicate, frothy mixture made with beaten egg whites and sugar or hot syrup, and browned, used as a topping for pies, pastry, etc.

(This is what you get from having a mother who was a home economics major in college and access to a dictionary on line.)

Jan :earsgirl:

I have sympathy for him. I'm the first one up every weekday. Weekends Ken sometimes will get up first, but for some reason, the girls still come and ask me questions even when he gets up with them. :confused3
.......

Because MOMs know EVERYTHING. ::yes:: It's a fact, just ask any kid. :thumbsup2

Jan :earsgirl:

This should make 20 posts in a row. No one is up but me, because it is 4 am in the Eastern time zone and no one else has indigestion from pizza.....

I think I will try lying down again. Church will be starting sooner than I like.

Jan ;)

thanks Deb... if I can't get to sleep...I'm trying your tea... :goodvibes

Marilyn...

Meet you on the other side...unless you're planning on sleeping in... ;)

Meet me on the OTHER SIDE!!!????:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Oh, one more thing I forgot to mention. I told Tyler today all the fun things I have in mind for our extra time off together this week. Something fun for each day! Well, his response was, "Or....since we'll have so much extra time, we COULD just stay home and clean and finally get our house back to normal." :scared1: He'd choose cleaning the house over the zoo and water park and rollerskating rink and science museum and water balloon fight in our yard?! OH CRAP!!!! Tyler the cleaning nazi has me trapped for FOUR DAYS! :scared: He already started cracking his whip too. I told him about my plan to move things around in my room to try to organize it better and create more space, etc. While eating dinner, he asked when can we do that! Um.....later. I had my last piece of chicken in my mouth and as I was chewing it, he asked, "As soon as you're done with that bite, can we start working on your room?" NO! We need time to let our food settle. He gave me 5 minutes and said, "Come on, lets get to work". I wonder what evil plan he has in store tomorrow morning? Probably HIS bedroom next! I blame this ALL on his dad because his dad's a neat freak! :rotfl2:

:lmao: So much for having fun!!!!:rotfl2:

Good Morning Everyone

Andrew just posted this on the 2010 thread for special cruises...

Some dates I am hearing,-Not official, but just to point you in the correct direction.

* October 7th Preview date
* October 21st on Sale.

I saw it too and damn I am on holiday from 17 to 24 Oct. Maybe I send the quote to Dreams Unlimited before I go away?

I just showed Tyler this cat and he laughed and asked, "Is that a real cat?!" :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I told him it is and he laughed harder and asked who gave him a beer because that's not good for cats! :rotfl:

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: My son laughed of the picture too.

UK and US must air different events and show a different schedule. Everytime you mention what you are watching and when Deborah does too, it's always different from what we're watching. I'm recording the Olympics now and watching preseason football. But I have watched the Olympics every day and it just seems to be different from what you're watching.:confused3

Oh I love watch Olympics and I am sad it is finish tonight sob sob and closing tonight at my time is 12.00 - midnight - maybe tape it. I love to see funny bit well, saw it this morning I laugh man from Cuba, had lost his temper, kicked to ref oh dear:scared1:

Oh MONICA, I did pick up two lottery tickets today. Where's the cross your finger smilie? (why don't we have one of those?).

Guess what, Ian won lottery again but he only got three numbers mean 10 pounds (20 dollars).

Olivia became bad behaviour since back from Outdoor Adventure, I don't know why she acted like that and I put her in bed early last night.:sad2:

Okay I go and tidy up and ironing school clothes and ready for tom. OH YES:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: Kids back to school

Marilyn

I think in May about Florida and you will be fine as the kids will be worn out after going to park!! Kids will love it. and I love Florida too ::yes::

I kept a couple boxes on a closet floor for those things. Whatever had not been fished out for reassignment in 5.months was donated to the next collection that came along. ::yes::

Worked for me. I have not wished anything back. :sad2:

Jan :earsgirl:

Good idea :thumbsup2

Thanks!

Hmmmm... :scratchin That would go with hot pink, hot yellow and hot DIS green striped mini-skirted dresses and go go boots... or chunky platform shoes...ribbons and flowers in her hair.....

Or am I mixing my decades again.....:rotfl2:

Jan :earsgirl:

The Go Go boots for the women would be a nice touch, and Beatle boots for the guys.

Jan :earsgirl:

EXACTLY! That was when I got to like and become comfortable with metric, when I didn't have to convert.

We are all comfortable with 2-liter bottles of soda. Does anyone really every get into a flap trying to figure out how many ounces, or pints there are in a 2-liter bottle?

I agree, it was the conversion that killed it.

When I was doing semi-professional baking, I used metric for everything except my oven temperature. My recipes had both measures as did my measuring tools. Professional baking recipes are done in weight measures and not volume measures anyway.

It was MUCH easier to halve or double a recipe using metric.

Off to work now and striving to make the world a thinner place.

The topic today is to understand comfort zones of eating, how do you tell when you are hungry and when you are satisfied and when you have overeaten.

I've got some good stuff planned, including breaking them out into breakout groups.

I have 2-inch (non metric) squares of brown cardboard, and I am going to tell them that it is a brownie and worth 5 points (which a brownie is).

It would not be very satisfying (the brownie that is ... I really don't know about the cardboard).

I'm going to have them brainstorm what else they could eat for 5 points that would be more hunger-satisfying.

Personally, I could plan a huge meal around 5 points.

TTFN!

Hey you are lucky he is keeping you in line missy :woohoo:

Nothing wrong with getting one life in order before the school year begins.

Seems I was the crabby mama the last 2 days and nights, I've made my kids go thru their drawers to get rid of the small clothes and also rid themselves of their old toys. I want to have the old out for the new school year, just seems right to me.
Yeah, I know. I did tell him we need to get rid of old toys so that he can get all new at Christmas. I told him we have to start that soon so Santa can start planning. If Santa sees how many things he has, he won't bring much. :thumbsup2
