Jon always wants to buy me fancy bags and jewelry because his friend's wives have them and I always tell him to take me on vacation. Our friends rarely go anywhere and that is not acceptable for me.

I so agree with you !! :thumbsup2 :happytv:

I have about a dozen rings I wear on my left hand wedding finger depending on what I feel like wearing. The ring I got when we got married was green jade reinforced inside and up the sides with gold. When the gold on the sides wore off and I could not get it past my 50 year old knuckle any more, I managed to get it off one last time and then started wearing costume jewelry from Pennys and Walmarts. I made the wedding ring into a necklace.

If I had expensive stuff I would be so self conscious, I would not enjoy it.

But TRAVEL!! :woohoo: You BET!! Let's go!

Jan :earsgirl:

:confused3 Never a snow day off work? :confused3

We got that once in the 14 years we lived in our first house. The snow fell so fast and heavy all night that the plows could not keep up. It was upstate NY where they KNOW how to handle snow.

Unusual to have a "snow day" when you're an adult ::yes::

Jan :earsgirl:

We do???? :lmao:

Yes... we do... actually compared to the wimps in NJ where I used to live who used to go out and buy out the entire supermarket of food and bought the biggest snow blower they could EVER find all for 2 inches of snow...

That's why I moved upstate where they have plows bigger than my house and I just buy chocolate and stay home and watch it snow...

Alright... I'm outta here... I do really have a date with a horse tomorrow... and a lawn chair and the racing form...

Wish me luck everyone!!!

Mamma needs another cruise!!! (and her daughter too...:goodvibes )

Hi Michelle

:wave2: Hi everyone! I am sorry I haven't stayed up on the boards. Summertime just seemed to fly by. Just wanted to pop in and say hi, hope everyone is well - and best wishes Ian on your upcoming wedding.
Lisa

Hi Lisa, so great to hear from you. We all miss you.

Hi Lisa!

Can't believe the kids are starting school already...I feel like I'm still in spring time, but before you know it the school busses will start to roll through the neighborhood waking me at the crack of dawn...

I've had my days... good and not so... I just found a whole bag od Tart N Tiny's that I believe will temporarily make me feel better... I cannot get hold of any Smarties until daybreak... ;) (that's my story and I'm stickin to it...)

I haven't seen the post yet... I'm hoping for the Med but there's lots of talk about N Europe... Anybody in? :dance3:

I think I am the only one who doesn't want N Europe!!! I want sun, blue sea and heat!!!

:sad2: Nope, still not familiar....
Is it from a show? :confused3

Jan :earsgirl:

I just think it is an old song. It became better known 10 - 20 years ago with being used for a tea advert. Conmtrary to what some of you might think(Gaylean!!!), I wasn't alive when they sounded like that when they sang!!!!:lmao:

Marilyn, thank you. You made the morning here at Eastwood Manor.

I personally am not familiar with it, so I called Sukie into hear it. He said everybody in England knows it. Apparently it was also used in an advert in the '70's.

Hearing it seems to put Sukie in a very good mood this morning!

Computers are toddlers. :lmao:

Most electrical appliances and machines are toddlers. ::yes:: They do as they like, they push the limites, they don't believe you are serious until you threaten them or actually put them in time-out.

My computer requires time out from time to time. I tell it that if it cannot play nice, then it will be timed-out and it can come back in 20 seconds and stay out if it plays nice. But if it doesn't play nice, it gets another time out.

Then I turn it off, count to 20 and turn it on.

I am NOT kidding here.

Jan :earsgirl:

Jan, you are a kindred spirit.

Marilyn,

You cause a fury at Eastwood Manor with the "Cup of Tea" song. Sukie, now urgently needing to know the origins, fled to the Internet where he found this:

"I can't give you the specific answer you're looking for on this one but perhaps I can clarify one or two things for you.

Firstly the original song 'Nice Cup of Tea' was written by the English humourist and playwright AP Herbert for his musical revue 'Home & Beauty' which was first performed in 1937 to celebrate the coronation of King George VI.

In the 1970s the song was used by Brooke Bond for their 'D' brand of tea so the lyrics became 'I like a nice cup of D in the morning'. I believe that the former F1 world champion Jackie Stewart and his wife Helen featured in the advert.

So the fact that 'tea' was altered to 'D' obviously meant that the jingle was recorded specifically for the ad rather than an old version of the song being used. Chances are that it was recorded by a session/jingles singer rather than an established artist which would make them almost impossible to track down 30+ years on. "

You have to remember, he's the one writing a history book.

I'm pleased to be the bringer of more harmony to your household!!!:)

Well thank him for the info.:thumbsup2 Wow, I would never have thought it was in the 70's!!! I'm soooo old!

Who did you cruise with?

Did you cruise WITH him? :rotfl:

or just with him?

:rotfl: I know, I know, NOYB!! :rotfl2:

Jan :earsgirl:
:rotfl2: I only cruise with Tyler (except once on Carnival with my friend Cindy). His name is Ed, and he was part of the DIS meet thread for that cruise. Super nice guy and I ran into him and his wife often onboard. People on that thread still pop in occasionally to say hi, but only a post every 6 months or so.

Gee.....I wish I knew what I was doing on Saturday, Sept 6th...:confused3 Will I really be icing cupcakes, making Gumby colored frosting, shoveling donkey poop?????

.
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Maybe the donkeys will eat the cupcakes and Gumby will have to shovel donkey poop?

Have to be to work in 16 min, so off I go! Have a great day everybody! :goodvibes Hello, goodbye, catch you all after work. :grouphug:

Hey Michelle! The kids are doing great. School starts on Monday and I am DREADING it! Life changing so much...no more sleep in days for the kids, homework, sports, music....argh. It is great for the kids, and might be great if I didn't work, but trying to juggle it all is always the biggest challenge.

How are you doing? Feeling well?

Reading about all the donut talk really gets me craving one! Did you guys catch Andrew's post that 2010 will come out in Oct?
Lisa

LISA!! So good to see you! Funny thing - I was thinking about you & Tammy last night and how we haven't heard from either of you in ages....

If it's Northern Europe - I'm in 100%....Med like last time - nope. I would then do NE on another carrier.

Yesterday pm was Hel.....at work....we were down 3 agents so phones were super busy. Had a headache for most of the day too....turned into a migraine, so after I got home at 8pm I lay on the couch for about 1 hr in a dark & quiet house then went to bed at 9pm. Still have a bit of it left so I sit here at my desk wearing sunglasses as the lights are REALLY bothering me. I am typing at a sllllllllllooooooooowwwwwwwww speed as this is bothering me too. Nauseaus too. Looks like it will be a fun day....

We'll see how today goes - we're down 2 agents & it's a Friday.

Is it October yet??? I really need to know what DCL is doing in 2010! I have some planning to do!

Had a long conversation with cousin Jo. She has been studying the Unoffical Guide to WDW for months now and had a big old list of questions for me. I had a blast talking to her about their trip (she'll be there for my birthday :sad1: )

Did you guys hear that Four For A Dollar are no longer doing the pre-show at Beauty and The Beast at MGM.....excuse me, Hollywood Studios. Man, I LOVED those guys. They are individually being interviewed/considered for other positions for Disney however.

Gee.....I wish I knew what I was doing on Saturday, Sept 6th...:confused3 Will I really be icing cupcakes, making Gumby colored frosting, shoveling donkey poop?????

.

I heard on a podcast (can't remember which one) Sept 20th is their last day.

Andrew DEREK UK....he has a live trip report from the Magic (I'll go get the link). Capt. Tom said 2010 dates should come out in October.

be right back.

Here you go:

Ah, thanks!

BTW, I AM an experienced equine poop shoveler.....six years practice! :thumbsup2 Just thought you'd all want to know. Sister Peg, however, is the EXPERT shoveler....36 years experience!

.

Is this on your resume?

I often have to remind myself and frustrated cashiers, "don't worry you are smarter than the computer!"

How can you get to work in 16 minutes?

We can't even get out of our neighborhood in 16 minutes! :rotfl: :rotfl:
