OOOOHHHH, I didn't realize this was an issue for Molly as well. The Charles Armstrong School in Belmont specializes in Dyslexia. If you were interested in a good diagnosis I could easily call up there for the right professional. Are you getting it done with your school? We could talk about it if you want a top notch reference. People come all the way from San Jose, Oakland and San Rafael for their kids to go to that school. It's amazing.

She is not dyslexic, but the best that I can understand from my years of searching the net is that she is dypraxic (sp) She has fine and gross motor skill problems, which displays as a writing problem and a huge spelling dificet too. We have been working with her since 1st grade early intervention with reading. By 3rd grade she was reading off the charts, but the motor skills just never improved. I think I know of the place you are talking about in Belmont. When I first looked at them they had a waiting list to get in therapy that was many months long. I think that was back in 2nd grade. We ended up doing OT that year with a local provider. The next year we switched that to horse back riding (and stall work) to improve the gross muscle lack of strenght issues. Then the next year it was caligraphy lessons. She has always teasted off the charts for intelligence and so that means that she doesn't qualify for school help but because everyone likes her and she clearly had problems she had work with practioniers at school of course too.
Last year we thought we'd just see how she did and by the grace of a great 5th grade teacher she learned well, but didn't improve on the writing and her spelling is that of a 1st grader or below.
We can continue this on email. As you can see I have a mouthful of background over her school years of what we have tried.
