Hey it's not too late for me to save my self from the brink of poverty ... I'm still young enough to find someone rich.

I have very realistic requirements:

  1. Rich
  2. Be able to sit up and feed himself
  3. Very rich

Ian... a bit of Barb Philosophy... you get an old rich guy with a cough and put him under wet blankets and turn on a fan...

Didn't work for her either...

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Just a tad rainy your way, is it?

I need a row boat... :rolleyes1

I have many kids in all these categories in my practice. I am working with a company right now that is preparing a nutrional supplement for the Autism spectrum disorders (which includes sensory integration, ADD etc) and I am hoping that my clinic will become a trial location. I try and use alternative treatments rather than traditional prescriptions, but sometimes that is necessary as a starting spot before therapies and such can take effect and lessen the need for medications. I am really excited about the research they are finally doing into all these areas. There is so much frustration that can be avoided if we know exactly what we are dealing with and how to help them....rather than the guessing game that we have been playing for years........

love, love, love, love this!!:hippie: :hippie:

She is not dyslexic, but the best that I can understand from my years of searching the net is that she is dypraxic (sp) She has fine and gross motor skill problems, which displays as a writing problem and a huge spelling dificet too. We have been working with her since 1st grade early intervention with reading. By 3rd grade she was reading off the charts, but the motor skills just never improved. I think I know of the place you are talking about in Belmont. When I first looked at them they had a waiting list to get in therapy that was many months long. I think that was back in 2nd grade. We ended up doing OT that year with a local provider. The next year we switched that to horse back riding (and stall work) to improve the gross muscle lack of strenght issues. Then the next year it was caligraphy lessons. She has always teasted off the charts for intelligence and so that means that she doesn't qualify for school help but because everyone likes her and she clearly had problems she had work with practioniers at school of course too.

Last year we thought we'd just see how she did and by the grace of a great 5th grade teacher she learned well, but didn't improve on the writing and her spelling is that of a 1st grader or below.

We can continue this on email. As you can see I have a mouthful of background over her school years of what we have tried.

Has she been tested for this? Dysgraphia

Since all the parents or kids have something wrong, I was wondering if it were possible that they have a disorder where you hate to clean and would rather DIS all day.....while drinking sangria or champagne :rolleyes1 I don't mind cooking a gourmet meal but I don't want to clean up after. Does anyone know of a cure for this disease?

Searched all of my text books and couldn't find a definition nor cure!!

Hello Everybody

I missed out the pages so I will read it tom morning.

Happy Birthday to Molly :bday:

Just came home while ago and I went to see the film Mamma Mia, oh it was so brilliant film, only if you fond of Abba's song. I want to see it again and maybe buy dvd later ::yes::

I am off to bed now

Goodnight

Hello and good night. I just wanted to say that I got kicked out of the Mama Mia performance in Vegas. It was a good show before that.

Snuck out to go to the US Open of surfing in Huntington Beach (better known as Surf City) Today was the women's trials:

That is one long day and but it sounds like fun for Molly. I want a sleep over again, they were so fun. Tell Molly happy birthday and show Wilson some pictures from his last birthday!

just wait a couple of weeks.:goodvibes

Things must be better now then when some of us were kids, aren't they? I mean kids have been mean for eons, but surely the teachers and authorities must have gotten better on some level.

I mean they must know more now?

In the 4th grade I would come home from school in tears because my teacher would taunt me and make fun of me. Mainly because of my arithmetic problems.

After my mother (a force to be reckoned with) came in and complained to the principal, from thereon she made taunted me and made fun of my mother in the class too.

Her name was Mrs Kaufman, and if by some miracle the old battle axe is still alive, I invite you all to hunt her down. She must be about 145 years old by now.

The only solace I take that uplifts me is the hope that she died wearing something polyester, in a nasty color.

Someone please tell me that although children haven't changed, the people responsible for children have.

One thing that has changed is that the parents don't allow certain things to happen. I remember when the principle could spank us. Now the teachers can't even look at the kids crossed eyed without the parents down there yelling. I don't do that because I think children deserve it sometimes but most of all I don't because your kid is still going to be in that class with that teacher. The best idea is to become their best friend.

I hope Molly is doing well in her performance!! Let's see it is 9:16 here so it is 6:16 there....so it has not started yet.

Weather is bad here tonight. Big Thunderstorms and a tornado went right though Centreville!! My house is fine....but we all went to the basement.

Can we all sleep in the living room with our sleeping bags and eat popcorn and candy? And you know what happens to the first one that goes to sleep :rolleyes1

Gaylean...

HOW did you get thrown out of Mamma Mia????

My friend thought it was a concert and so she sang....really loud! All the people around her shushed her for a while and then she got louder and really mean. I told her to be quiet and she wouldn't. To make a long story short....we are permanently banned from the MGM :confused3 But it was OK because we were not in the right "mood" for a musical :lmao:

I just made a really good dinner and I was going to tell you about it and then I realized it had cheese in it again. Do I have cheese in everything? I'm going to have to evaluate my menu!

Logging in from home this time, so I can actually see pictures!:cool1:

Here is the final dress rehersal picture. It is so weird putting and seeing ones son in makeup ;) I'm heading out to drop them at practice for the night, I'll be back...

That's a great picture - the only with the piano looked great too!

We were all excluded from some group or another. I think for the most part it makes us stronger. I know some kids have it really bad but most of them have enough friends to get them through school and then, when they get into the real world, they realize they can be friends with anyone, like what we are doing here. I'm sure we are all from different groups and classes but for the most part we get along.

Well said, I hope my kids always have at least one good friend to get them through the tough times at school. When I was a kid, my mother drilled it into my and my sister's heads that we'd always have a friend in each other. I've started repeating that same message to my girls, so far it seems to be working (at least Shaelyn sticks up for Kaleigh and watches out for her)

I want to see Mamma Mia too! Maybe on Friday while Ken's watching TV. Do you think its good for kids?

Oh wow, please keep us updated if you do get to be a trial location. How exciting!

You know I will....I am pretty hopeful that I get chosen because my population of clients fits the needs so well.

I would like to hear some of the alternatives. I have read a few books and my MIL is an OT so I'm really interested in the subject. Ethan had a fine motor skill problem, like writing and tying shoes and then the doctors took his tonsils out and his writing is great (he still doesn't tie his shoes tight enough) :confused3 I guess he had big tonsils and he wasn't sleeping well. I'm not sure what one thing has to do with the other but it worked. Maybe you could explain a little. Plus he has severe allergies and that also got better after the tonsils but he still has them. He also doesn't ride his bike but I think that is because he got hurt and won't try anymore but maybe not. He does really well in school, as far as grades but it is really hard to get him to do his homework and he doesn't do well with anything timed. The teachers think that kids outgrow that after third grade :confused3 There are so many opinions out there that it is hard to understand anything.

Oh that is a loaded post if I ever read one!:goodvibes I have too many opinions and info to even type it all out! In Cal, NDs are licensed and some insurance co cover them....that might be a possible solution. It is so hard for me to give generalizations because I treat every case so differently. The new supplement will have great results with most kids (in my opinion and hope). I would say that from your post allergies are probably Ethan's biggest problem and getting rid of those through some form is probably the best thing you can do for him. You would probably need to do some gut healing, some allergy testing (and I don't use skin scratch testing, I sometimes use blood, but I have other programs that I use for kids so it isn't traumatic) and then some sort of desensitization program to decrease his allergic load. You would be surpised how much allergies can affect behavior, learning and moods. HTH just a little......you could always move to WA and I could really help! :thumbsup2

love, love, love, love this!!:hippie: :hippie:
:

figured you would :goodvibes We really need to plan another cruise together so we can really meet and spend hours talking.....we have so much in common! Did you ever read that powerpoint? I am redoing it tonight as I was asked to give the same talk again tomorrow night! :scared1:

Great pics by the way.....looks like fun

I actually read up on allergies being the cause. It really made me think. He has been tested for everything and they say he isn't allergic to stuff and I know he is. I would love your help without having to move! I had a good doctor once that gave him a steroid and we started over with the food like he was a baby. Only adding in foods slowly so we could determine if it was food. It was really hard. The other thing I didn't tell you is that when he got his tonsils out he didn't eat anything for almost two weeks and his eczema completely disappeared and he didn't wet the bed, which he still does. It is strange that you mentioned the gut healing because he really has gut problems and is backed up even though he is on miralax. When he gets really backed up he can wet more often. I also saw a study once where they injected kids with the thing they were allergic to and they got crazy hyper and couldn't concentrate. It was weird. He isn't hyper at all. In fact he may be the opposite!

That is a good idea about the kids. I'm not sure it would work with a boy and a girl since they will be trying to date each other's friends :scared1:

I don't know about the movie but the part I saw in the musical was all about a girl that didn't know who her dad was and she had a few to choose from. I don't know about your kids but I'm not ready to answer those questions yet. And my kids would be bored.

My goodness, you were all chatty today!

Finally got the call from the insurance adjuster and they are giving me $3,300 MORE than what I owe on the car, so I'll have down payment money. Now....let the shopping begin! :thumbsup2 I am going to go sit in a Hyundai Tucson and see if I like it. I might consider a new one of those over a slightly used Rav4 or CR-V, mostly because of the great warranty (10 years/100,000 miles) and saftey test results. We'll see if any of the dealers are doing smoking deals (i.e., low interest rates) on the new ones.

I also had my annual review and I was right....my raise covers the cost of monthly Weight Watchers meetings with a couple of dollars left over for a glass of tea. :sad2: I'm not really :sad2: as there are lots of folks out there who aren't getting anything and they and I are lucky to still have jobs. Ian, I was bummed to learn that Arizona does not offer the monthy pass at WW. So I'll be paying $2 a week more than Dianne :upsidedow when I by the 10 week deal.

OK...I'm going to bed at a decent time tonight....in 18 minutes!

Nighty-nite!
