I believe Virgin bought the name, but not sure how it is going to work. Perhaps a budget side of the company.

I didnt know nothing about it and find out from the dibb.... I am pleasing that TCD back *** we enjoyed the travel with them...

I am sure lots of people are happy with it.. I cannot believe that Virgin bought over....

but sadly that we are not going next year to Florida...

YUP ::yes:: Connie :santa: looks happier than Chuck. :sad2:

Did Patrick have a good time riding the golf cart and seeing the decorations? Did you go to a campfire and movie?

That is so interesting! Our family had EXACTLY the same tradition! When we were older, we always gave Mom and Dad a hard time, saying, you only had one present from Santa under the tree because you didn't want him to get all the credit for the GOOD stuff! We only had one present from Santa (unwrapped) and a stocking with fruit and nuts. We did the same thing with Patrick and Michael. They still expect M&M's in their stocking......also, Patrick refuses NOT to believe in Santa.......

Mike was so good with him when they were little, Mike "Knew" about Santa, but Patrick didn't so we had the fun for years of Santa, even when Mike was in High School!

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Patrick has it right--Santa :santa: is a "pretend" that we all like to pretend. :yay: YAY PATRICK! :cheer2:

We had fruit and nuts in our stockings too. Mom was a Home Ec major in college so no candy or cookies--they were dessert--only once or twice a week--and only if you ate a GOOD dinner.
:)

No, we don't have a fireplace. But we have the movie "The Santa Clause", which shows that Santa magically creates a fireplace in houses that don't have one, then he can slip down the chimney, so that's what Tyler believes. But this year he did tell me Santa probably just came in through the front door (which is right next to the tree) because that would be easier. ;)

So, next year he can write Santa a note suggesting he do that to save time and then you will have to borrow some BIG BOOTS to make snow prints and figure out sleigh runners if the sled parks in the yard instead of the roof where no one can see the snow.

Unless  it is a hover craft of some kind that stays in a holding pattern above the yard while Santa jumps down onto the sidewalk. ::yes:: Yup, Tyler might go for that technology, especially since Santa's son Charlie and Bernard are into "high tech" sleighs now. It could work.... :cool1:

Sorry, I should have clarified that a bit, Donna knows my fellow DISer co-worker Jan from a past cruise. :thumbsup2

I knew you and Donna knew, but thought others on the Thread might think it was me. :sad2: It's not.

Some of us have to work a lot....
then we get to DCL

We are doing well when it is once a year, category 11 in hurricane season. ::yes::

Hooray! Tyler just called me and asked if he can come home NOW instead of tomorrow evening. :goodvibes Sort of stinks that I'm losing the alone time I'd planned, but I'm thrilled to get extra time with him, especially since I got an extra day with him because of Christmas! He's usually asking me every day "When do I go back to my dad's?", so it's nice to have him want to be here for a change. :thumbsup2

I got the impression Tyler did this a lot--wanting to be with whoever he is not with--but that Dad did not tell you how much he does it there :rolleyes1
.

It would also be nice if I could spell

Spelling is not a requirement for posting here :thumbsup2

Some of us proof read our posts and then edit to correct spelling and grammar. Others post like fury and don't bother. Others post from Blackberries where proofing and editing is more difficult so they don't try either. Don't worry, post away! ::yes::

Got any good photos to share?

Jan :woohoo:

they say that because of all the kids texting everything, the art of spelling and grammar will be lost within a generation or two!:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Did you ever go to a museum where they had letters from the period available? There is one at Gettysburgh PA where they explain things in the exhibits with letters from soldiers to their families. The spelling is phoenetic. You have to read it out loud to be able to understand what it says because sight reading does not work. :rotfl2:

I think we delude ourselves that grammar and spelling have been a consistent aspect of our language. Look at the differences in spelling from British Isles to USA.

That makes me think that we are going to phoenetic abbreviation this time. ::yes::

Please, please don't tell Amy about this . . .:sad2:

I think getting to shake hands with him after a concert she dragged me to ranks as a lifetime achievement.

There was a miracle of sorts today. I woke up at 8:30 AM! That's 3.5 to 4 hours later than I usually get up!

I'm going to have to make a mental note that this is what relaxed feels like.

It seems like all of you had pretty fabulous holidays.

Connie - What a great idea to go to FW for Christmas. It would be a fabulous spot. We have stayed at VWL before Christmas, and the rustic ambiance seems to complement the holidays. I've always liked the look of of FW. I imagine that Pioneer hall looked great.

By the way, it's 53F right now, going up to 64F, or 67 degrees higher than it was a week ago.

It is also pouring. Not a light rain, but pouring!

It's a mess outside. It's a mess in back of our house. There's melting ice and snow that has nowhere to go. There's rain that has nowhere to go.

There is water coming in through the siding of the enclosed back porch and down the wall, because there is nowhere for the water to drain.

Nothing we can do about it, so we're going to go up the block to the movie theater at the end of our street.

We're going to see Benjamin Button

.
Thank you. I am handicapped since we live so far from our kids and do not hear them talk about this stuff. I have a Game Boy so assume this is a more advanced form of that.

Exactly :thumbsup2 You actually use a little stylus on this one and can write on the screen with it.

I was wishing some of you guys had a Playstation 3 again last night.

We played Buzz Quiz TV and there's an option to play "sofa vs. sofa" where you play trivia with your friends remotely.

My friend will be coming off the ship today and Nan & family will be on Cruise today... how lovely...

Our friends also get off today! Bet they had a good time:yay:--

Hope Nan and Co. do too!!

:goodvibes: Grandma Jan checking in--

I am sitting in a big comfy chair DISing on the RAZ with Sophie on my chest while her Mom sleeps and her Dad and Grandpa watch a show about mining.

This is LIVING :yay:

I chastise the young guys on my team all the time. They claim I use "big words."

I accused them of using "Newspeak" as in 1984. Apparently NONE of them ever read 1984.

I told them that the concept behind Newspeak and Big Brother was that we use language to express our thoughts. With Newspeak, the concept was, if you limit vocabulary, you hamper the ability to express complex ideas.

The larger the vocabulary, the better able we are to express complexity and subtle differences.

One if my guys is a musician an I asked him to imagine composing but only being able to use 2 notes, with no variance. You can compose music, but not as complex as you can with a full freight of notes and color.

I think that texting, email and IM are dangerous in their ways. One of my remote testers would send me emails using texting abbreviations.

I asked her if her Intranet provider charged her for emails by the number of characters. It drove me crazy.

My guys have said that all the young people do it, to which I responded, "If all the young people jump off the roof, do you have to as well?"

I mean I was young too, and much wilder than any of my guys are.

It's sort of strange if I compare generations, their world electronically is larger but physically their world is much much much smaller than it was in my day. I mean, their physical worlds seem really miniscule. Almost like they're trapped by their cell phones into tiny little spaces.

Their curiosity about things seems much more limited. Plus there's also an almost willful ignorance.

They also seem to shock incredibly easily, which surprises me the most.

I must be turning into an old git.
