Me too but it is worse when it is under 60 degrees. Then I don't even want to get out of bed or my jammies.

I could be in bed all year...

:cool1: :cool1: :thumbsup2
I still can't quite believe this :cloud9:

Kathe

I'll get back to you on that one...

I've been here over 8 yrs :confused3  :rotfl:

Kathe

Take you time Kathe... no rush...

I just talked to Tom....he's home now. He said he talked to a counselor and that they increased his anti-depressants and that he's doing fine. He said he learned a lot about himself and that he's not suicidal at all. He said he really wants to live here and get his old life back. He'll talk to Joe and Sandi and get back to us. One condition was that he get enrolled back in the votech school program. I said have mom check it out and he said that he would check it out. Good. He's showing initive and taking responsibility. He said that he was disrespectful to his mom and Joe and that he was sorry.

I guess Tom will be moving in with us in about 2 weeks. Life will change again. I think it will be a good thing for us also because John could use some help. Tom can do that.

Well, you'll have a Xmas surprise!!!

He needs you now Deb... Just give him the love he needs and he'll do great!!!

Did you ask for something???

Here is the quick and dirty version:

Here is one with a little more finish to it:

I like the second... looks more like Bubba...

My long lost son!!!!

You need to shrink this one down so Bubba can use it as his avatar... or in his siggy...

Good Morning All Sentient Life Forms (and Nan).

So, is today really Thursday?

A bit of a problem. Somehow, my alarm clock broke and started going off at 3AM, so I'm a bit sleepy this morning.

I also, at 4AM ordered a new alarm clock. I have a Westclock Moonbeam alarm clock. It's a good old fashioned analog clock and instead of a bell or buzzer going off, a light starts to flash dimly and slowly and then after a few moments gets brighter and brighter and faster and faster in it's flashing. Then finally a few minutes later, if I haven't shut it off or hit the snooze a bell starts.

I find the flashing light a much gentler and much less jarring way to wake up. So, now I have to get a new one.

I also don't like digital clocks, not at least digital alarm clocks. They're evil.

The target of Sukie's column this week is someone at Disney. Apparently someone with Disney in California gave $5000 to the proposition 8 ad campaign.

By the way, I've been seeing some sales around on Blu-Ray DVD players ... so here is some unasked for buying advice. Be aware of some of these deceptive "deals."

The players on sale are the older "profile" players. The "profile" is the version of software or firmware. The older players are not easily upgradable to the new software and do not have hard drives. So, these sales are really a liquidation of outmoded stock. So ask questions before you buy. Not that any of you are going Hi-Def, but just some friendly advice anyway.

I have a sense that today is going to be a high pressure day.

For some bizarre reason, I check my work email last night (something almost never do) and I see that there is now an 11th hour crisis with the project from hell that I'm on that's going to throw a monkey wrench in the works. Now, with only 48 hours before we start our final march to production. Not looking forward to that, especially in light of the fact that I woke up so early and will be dead tired today.

Flashy alarm clocks don't work too well when one's head is plastered under a pillow... :rotfl:

Gaylean, Here's my 2 cents

x2 - 2x -63.
In order to solve, look at the front first: x2 must come from x times x.
Next look at the end 63 must be 9 times 7. And its negative, so either the 9 or the 7 are negative.
Finally look at the middle -2x = so that works with 7x-9x.
So you've got (x+7)(x-9)

Hopefully that makes some sense, but I'm not very good at explaining on line:)

This sure brought back memories of high school....:scared1:

I met a woman from Chicago who had the lapband surgery done in March and she already lost 80 pounds! Does anyone know anybody who has had this done? Connie

Well, I have a friend who is a nurse practitioner and she had it done last october and has lost around 80 pounds or so. She has really done great.

She really is encouraging me to have it done. If I follow certain procedures, it would be covered by my medical insurance. I asked my doctor about the surgery, because I really value her opinion. She told me that I am a great candidate for weight loss surgery but she thinks that a gastric bypass would be better for me. She explained that the lapband patients don't lose as much weight usually as those with the gastric bypass. As overweight as I am, she thought that gastric bypass was a better option.

I tend to think that the lapband is better because it is completely reversible. I don't know why this appeals to me but it does.

She wants me to wait until the trial and all that mess is over, but if that drags out for a long time, I may try to shoot to have this done in Christmas 2009. That will give me plenty of time to think about it and try to diet on my own before taking a drastic measure like surgery.

We leave for the Magic tomrrow morning at 11am!! I will say hi for everyone!!

Long drive tomorrow, we are going to Jacksonville.

Well, throw in the bin(trash?), so not much of a chance of a trade there!!!!:lmao:

That would be interesting dumpster digging... :rotfl2:

Crumbs, I've just read a rumour, and it is only a rumour someone copied from elsewhere that Disney is closing down POP because of falling attendance. If true, I don't know when, but the poster posted it in a thread about the late publishing of the May park hours.

Can things really be that bad?

Edit to say that the original post is here, but really it just looks a very big rumour.

They closed down POFQ after 9/11 and they used that time to do a refurb. They transfered alot of the cm's to other resorts so they didn't have to fire so many - that's the way my brother got upgraded to AKL for his honeymoon...(thanks to ME!!! he wanted to know why I couldn't get him into the GF... I told him if I got him upgraded that far that mom and I were going with them!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: )

Hi All!

Marilyn, congratulations on hitting 10,000.....I'm sorry you didn't get tagged. I just got lucky with mine.....being in the right place at the right time, I guess. It's so random.

I'm just doing a drive by posting because I have TONS of forms to fill out. I have at least 20 pages to fill out for guardianship of Tom who will be living here in two weeks. Then I have at least 20 pages to fill out for Ray to receive a veterans pension, which has to be done and submitted before the end of this month. Then there's a million attachments for both of them. I better get busy. I have now inherited a teen and an elderly to care for. Life constantly changes.....nothing ever remains the same.

I'm looking forward to having Tom's company, but he better be leaving his attitude in FL or else he'll go right back. I think he'll do well being back here though. I sure hope so.

He's going "home" Deb... and to people who are there to support him. He needs it.

Got my mom a cute sequined poinsettia top to wear with a long balck skirt for Xmas. My sister thinks it's okay to wear it for our formal night on NYE. I'm just not sure. What does the crowd think, ok or too much like Xmas??? It would be nice if she could wear it both times, then less to pack :thumbsup2

Just don't forget the spanx... ;)

Have a great time Lisa!!! Tell the Magic we said hello!!! :goodvibes

I think it may have been Deb that originally suggested February. I know Lisa said that was good for her but I know she said March was their original plan. Maybe that would be better with the kid's schedules :confused3 Mine are off at the end of March for spring break. Do your kids get that? Nan said February 24, I think. She also mentioned that Kaylee would already be here the week before so I'm sure she's already made plans with Lisa. Who else was from out of town? Let me know what everyone thinks. I haven't spoke with anyone from around here yet except Bubba and V. I'm assuming it's OK but I think the sooner we make the date the better.

Our kids (ok only Shaelyn is in school) are off for spring break during the week of March 16th.

:scared: :scared: What do you sleep in an igloo  I think we'll be sleeping in a hotel when we get that far up :lmao: Shannon mentioned the girls running through the sprinklers in the summer :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: Poor girls.

It's actually not that bad to run through the sprinklers up here during the summer.

The water is frozen so you don't get wet. You actually run BETWEEN the icicles from the sprinkler.

And that's July/Aug!

I went to School last night for fund raising and Olivia and I had the curries and bingo. I won the bingo also I won raffles of big Vokda bottle:rolleyes1

Scottishwee35

This is the best news I've heard all day :lmao:

Oh, my HOMEMADE pies! I haven't made a home made pie cruse for 20 years!!!!!!!!!

I MIGHT make the filling by hand, but the crust is ALWAYS Pillsbury dough boy for me
!!!!!:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

Well I have used those but I don't like them that much. I do like the graham cracker crust one but it is only good with berries.

BTW...EVERYONE IN MY FAMILY HATES GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE.....I HARDLY WILL EAT GREEN BEANS IN SOUP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate green beans but I like the casserole :confused3 But most of the stuff that I make on Thanksgiving I don't like. I do like turkey and mash potatoes and gravy.

Well that sounds like a good time to me. My kids aren't off until the 23 but that doesn't really matter since we are here.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: That is funny. I had to read it twice to make sure you were joking and not abusing your kids

Come on people... it doesn't get any easier than this...

USE WHOLE MILK - I buy a pt or a qt just for the pies... comes out VERY flaky...

And if you are making a 2 crust pie... just take what I've highlighted and double... you will have enough to cover the pie... the version they have below doesn't do it very well, but the doubling does... (and use tapioca as a thickener in the pie - (mom's secret.. ;) )

STIR - N - ROLL PIE CRUST

2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. vegetable oil
1/4 c. cold milk

Mix flour and salt. Pour oil and milk into measuring cup (don't stir); mix with flour. Press into ball. Cut in halves; flatten slightly. Place half between waxed paper (12 inch square). Lightly dampen table top to prevent slipping. Roll out until circle reaches edges. Peel off top paper. Place paper-side up in 8 or 9 inch pie pan, peel off paper. Fit pastry into pan. Roll top crust, place over filling. Tuck edges under bottom crust, seal. Snip 4 slits near center. Bake at 425 degrees (hot oven) about 40 minutes.

For single crust shell: Use 1 1/3 cups sifted flour, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/3 cup oil and 3 tablespoons cold whole milk. Prick bottom with fork. Bake at 475 degrees for 8-10 minutes.

You know what's even easier?

Going up to the counter at the bakery and telling the clerk "I want that one please".

Simple. done. Easy. If the Credit card machine is working properly it's done in a few minutes. Faster than me even trying to find half the ingredients or any dishes. Plus you aren't factoring in the washing dishes time!

I HATE washing dishes. Growing up I lived with my dad and a buddy of mine lived with us. I would cook Kraft Dinner in the pot and eat it out of the same pot to avoid dirtying any additional dishes (stirred it with the same fork I ate it with, of course). Funny part is, we had a maid.

Yes Ken... I realize that your holiday was last month... but I guess this means your getting dinner next week catered???? I'll let Shannon know... ;)

Sorry... you can't beat mom's pie... :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc

With our kitchen right now - all meals are practically being catered. We don't even have a table to eat at. But hopefully that all gets remedied this weekend. Not much left to go. Put some finishing touches together and then order the countertops and get the sink installed.

Then we can get to work on the living room, hallway and staircase before Xmas!

Ya still can't beat a friend of mine who decided to "surprise" his wife with a skylight in the kitchen that she had been wanting... He dropped the ceiling 4 days before the family was arriving for Xmas dinner...

I believe she also got some nice Jewelry for Xmas that year too... :rolleyes1
