Does Tyler have a CASA--Court Appointed Special Advocate?
an adult who is involved in custody and family organizational hearings whose sole job is to represent the child's point of view.

.

No he doesn't. We haven't had any court involvement for about 9 and a half years when the original custody/support was set. We've always been able to work out everything on our own. Or, more accurately, Chuck has always come to agree with me. I like to think he always ends up "doing the right thing", but more realistically, I think he just doesn't want battles. I've been very lucky so far.

Holly, I read your posts and the one thing that shines through is what an amazing fantastic mom you are. You are really special.

Aw, thanks Marilyn, but I don't see it that way. Just doing what we all do.

Exactly Marilyn!!!! I completely agree.

You really are a role model for all moms. You teach, nurture and love. You have patience and give good guidance. You support Tyler no matter what he has going on. You're the best mom ever!!!!

Oh no, I don't have much patience! I blow up and yell at him when I know I shouldn't. He's quite a challenge at times!

Sandy is coming. They're saying that it's going to be the worst storm that we have ever experienced. It's a noreaster colliding with a hurricane. It's huge! It's going to bring lots of wind and rain and snow in some areas. More than likely there will be power outages and trees down. It's due to hit NY/NJ on Monday morning around rush hour.

We will have to do some shopping and prepping later today.....us and everyone else around here. I hope there are supplies left on the shelves.

I keep watching the news updates about this. What a crazy storm! I don't remember anything like it in my life.

John left to go down to Phili with the kid to pick up the Grand Am. He has to be there by 8:30am so he had to leave by 6:30am. YUCK! He asked me if I wanted to go with him.....absolutely not! So he took the kid with him instead.

Deb, I'm with you. Not much gets me out of the house that early! LOL!

Lots of cleaning to do. And laundry. But I'm too lazy today. Will force myself to get a load of laundry done though, out of necessity. I did Tyler's earlier in the week when it was really warm weather, but now that it's cold again, it will take a few days to dry. Ugghhhh. My goal is to get a clothes dryer when I get my income tax check. Tired of clothes always hanging all over the house to dry, LOL!

I am glad it has worked out so well in the past. However, now that Chuck is seriously considering moving it sounds like he is marking his position in concrete not sand.

I suggest you learn about CASA so Tyler does not have to worry that he is hurting someone's feelings. He can have an advocate who speaks for his position in front of the judge. It may not be necessary but it doesn't hurt to know what his rights are ahead of time. The CASAs I know are tremendous, but be sure if you get one Tyler feels he cannot be honest with, that there is some way to change.

(It is possible that he tells Dad that he wants to be with him and you that he wants to be with you since he does not want to hurt the feelings of either. This would be the politician in him--tell the audience what they want to hear and tell the next audience something else as opposed to tell everyone the truth of what you believe which would result in an amazingly consistent message.)

AND

Marilyn is right-- you are an amazing Mom! God knew what He was doing when he sent Tyler to you  no one knows what is better for Tyler than you which is why i think decisions about education should be made by the people who love the kid, not bureaucrats.

Thanks Jan, all makes sense. I will definitely read up on CASA this weekend. :thumbsup2 Chuck is not merely considering moving, it is happening. They've not yet purchased a house but have decided on one they all 4 agree on, but I'm not sure if they've made an offer yet.

Definitely small world! Glad you had a nice time! :)

I do love raking, so I think that will motivate me to get moving. Have to get my back yard done soon. Or.....even better, wait until Tyler can help me so he can have the fun of the piles of leaves! He loves to make a huge pile at the bottom of his slide and then slide down into it. :goodvibes Yeah, that can be our weekend plan next weekend! Hopefully the weather cooperates.

Did manage to get a load of laundry done and hung up to dry. I suppose I could move the drying rack outside because although it's only in the 40s today, the sun is bright, so they might dry quicker out there than inside. :thumbsup2

Have to go popcorn selling tomorrow morning after church without Tyler because his dad won't take him. 2 other scouts and moms are setting up a table inside a video rental store and we've been invited to join. So I will go sit and Tyler will get 1/3 of the sales (split amongst him and the 2 other boys).

Gonna go get some free food! Well, actually paid for long ago, but free today! Bought a Groupon a while back for $9 for $20 worth of food at a Middle Eastern restaurant called Sizzling Kabobs. Their menu looks wonderful and I see a few things Loie's parents made when they were here. YUMMMMMM!!!!! I miss their cooking, so I'll get the 2nd best thing. They actually brought me takeout meals from this place a couple times on nights when they didn't cook. I sure miss his mom & dad.
