got a letter from my HOA this week....they want me to do some stuff about my yard, including replace the lawn. They also want me to paint my house. Left a message for the HOA person to get specifics, but luckily I know someone who does this kind of thing for a living (he's already told me I'll get a discount).

Will, Mickey & I are going to be tackling the yard on Saturday. I will be taking before & after pictures

We have a Historic Preservation Commission that covers our area of Indianapolis and they had to approve our replacement windows. I kind of understand since we are in a factory and the building would look STRANGE if each unit owner installed different windows, but they do it for houses too.

Owners of a historic house are not permitted to install Anderson replacement windows that are part plastic and thus do not rot because 100 years ago when the house was built, they had not used those windows.

The fact that they would have if they had been invented holds no water.

I do SO NOT want to be part of a HOA or in a Historic District EVER AGAIN.

I'm on the board of our HOA... I tell myself all the time the things I need to get done... and then I proceed to ignore myself!!!

It's pretty easy here.. we only have about 5 people out of about 78 homes that doesn't do what's necessary... and it's very little we ask every year... Last year we all painted the light poles in the front yards. We're very understanding and working with homeowners if something big has to be done.

For those who don't do what's needed (most out of protest...) they get told that they did buy into a homeowners assoc., got a cheaper house for it, and hey.. we reduced their garbage collection by 1/2 last year!!! (and then we have the attorneys put leins on their houses until they pay up their back dues for the last 5 years...) (which is $180 a year.. in Jersey I paid that in a MONTH!!!)

I was able to do Zumba again today. It felt a little better than the first time. I was able to go to the third dance and did all the arms again. Something is better than nothing. I'll take off over the weekend and start up again on Monday. If I do Mon Wed Fri that should be enough but not too much. I'll try it and see how it goes.

No plans for the weekend....just errands and busy work. Since the weather is going to be so nice, maybe we'll do a barbeque. I love anything on the barby. I'll talk to John and see if he's up for it.

I was able to do Zumba again today. It felt a little better than the first time. I was able to go to the third dance and did all the arms again. Something is better than nothing. I'll take off over the weekend and start up again on Monday. If I do Mon Wed Fri that should be enough but not too much. I'll try it and see how it goes.

I went ahead & did my miles on the bike at lunch. At 730p tonight, I am out the door to pick up Will & Mickey & it's off to Loews. Mickey will be telling me what I need to buy, then we'll be ready for tomorrow.

We'll be going to a local pub after finishing up our work & I will be treating them to lunch. They are such great friends & Lord knows, I'd be lost with out them.

Sunday I'm driving to Sarasota to meet my aunt/uncle from Michigan for lunch, then plan to hang out at a beach for a little bit before heading back home.

I spent the day today paying all my bills. Then I spent too much money but I had to buy this bag:

I've been buying a lot of stuff lately to get ready for Hawaii....so I have to say, it's for Hawaii, I needed it for the trip. Sure I did. I just love love love it. I'm finished buying now. It's time to start saving so I can afford to go on this trip. hahaha.

Shhhhhh....I didn't tell you this but John's job's fiscal year ends in June. The powers that be want to clean house. It's a rumor. So we are crossing our fingers that John hears something around June/July offering him the opportunity to opt out for early retirement. We don't know for sure, but even a rumor at this point is promising. Cross everything that they offer it to him and we can get out of here earlier.

I made another adult decision today (ugh - I HATE those!)

I was originally planning on using my time share to go to an island or to trade in for a 3 night cruise on the Dream...both options that would have included extra $. now that I have to deal w/ my lawn/yard & painting the house, I'll trade in my timeshare for a beach place here in FL, that way all I have to spend is the $ for gas & groceries. Not like I need much if I'm on a beach relaxing.

That IS very adult of you and really, it's a good decision. Can you do Vero Beach? I so want to go there and see the baby turtles hatching and crawling into the ocean. I will do it after I get down there.

Vero is nice - but nothing available there right now. I found a place that I like in Daytona. Would prefer to do Jensen Beach, but figure I have a better chance of someone going with me if there is only a 2 hr drive versus 5.

We had already discussed him going with me to the island/cruise, so the intent is still there.

I'm liking Daytona better now too. It's nice to have good company. I hope it works out and you get to spend more time together.

Ok.. you got me!!!

(We negotiated 1/2 off their cost of collection...) (and then the little old ladies here who only put out their cans every other week thought we were cutting back on their collection... I had to tell Anthony, our condo manager to talk to them like he was talking to his grandmother... then he can get it across to them...)

I'd love to grill something.. but then I'd have to take the grill off it's winter schedule and that screws things up big time...
